Anytime I submit a match to Dr. D that has DNA available she always replies rather quickly and points out that DNA is available and namus would have made the match, however anytime I submit a match that only has dentals available she tells me to be patient so she can make the comparison. jmo

I know this girl has been talked about briefly on the thread a while back, but I she might need to be relooked at. On many websites she is listed as 5' 4", however on some including a likely family based Facebook page she is listed as being as short as 4' 8". 5' 4" being average height for woman, was likely placed just as an estimate for her height when she's really a lot shorter. Although she was heard from and possibly seen in the local area months after her disappearance, there has been no contact from her since. Still does not have DNA nor dentals in NamUs. Would of been alive for a few years after her disappearance if she is Smurfette. Here we go.

Still waiting for that day that I see "Identified! " next to Smurfette's thread, but I wouldn't be surprised if instead I'd see "Match!". You guys rock!

Hey everyone, I still haven't stopped looking. I found this young lady as I was scrolling through, her hair is what stopped me, as far as hair goes its the closest match I've seen yet. Then I looked at the date, and said oh my goodness... well as we've discussed before sometimes last seen dates can be off by a little bit. I haven't dug too deep yet, but I thought it was worth posting here.

Erica Rivera - ( There is an Erika Rivera that was listed as missing/found) however these are not the same girl, the ages are different.

I'm strongly considering emailing all the high schools in the San Antonio and Houston areas. I mean, Smurfette had to have gone to school, right? And October is still in the school year. There has to be a teacher who remembers a student who just stopped coming to - or inexplicably got pulled out of - school and was never seen again.

Migmuu, San Antonio is a military town. Many families pass through while Dad/Mom is doing their service. I would like to get some coverage and also NCMEC do a better reconstruction on her skull. JMO

Out of curiosity, what do you think was wrong with the newer reconstruction? I was under the impression that the reconstruction was very accurate

Well, I just think the NCMEC reconstructions are more life like. Three dimensional, not flat.

Ooh yeah I know what you mean now. I thought you meant something was 'off' in the current reconstruction.

I agree, they should do one of those. The 3D clay model ones have always creeped me out a bit, and I think it often has that effect on other people too. I think it's because they have this 'dead' look in their eyes. A more lifelike reconstruction would be great.

ETA: I just realized that Smurfette's second anniversary is coming up in a little over a month. Time flies ... Hopefully this will be solved before the third anniversary.

There will be a candlelight vigil Sunday Sept 7 to remember the disappearance of Laura Miller and honor the work done in her memory by her Dad, Tim Miller, founder of Texas Equusearch. I will attend and put a yellow ribbon up for our beloved Smurfette.

Recently added to NamUs, Vanessa Cebreros. In the first picture, her hair is obviously straightened, but what little you can see of her hair in the second shows her hair obviously has texture. Height and age match. I don't see a resemblance to the composite, and she had less than three weeks to get from California to Texas, but could this be Vanessa?

I looked at this girl too, but didn't get around to posting her here. I doubt that she is Smurfette, as Smurfette likely died before Vanessa went missing, but her vital stats match okay and you never know...

Perhaps Lyssav would consider sending her details into Dr D?

Good news guys, Tina Velasco's DNA tests are finally (finally!) complete. I can now feel happy that she has properly been ruled out (hopefully!).

I don't mind submitting her. Although there isn't any DNA or dentals to compare, Dr. D may rule her out just based on the date she went missing. As for comparing photos; I think we need a better picture of Vanessa to do that..- her eyes are stunning!

Talked to Dr. D about Vanessa. The state of decomposition in which the remains were found are not consistent with Vanessa's missing date also putting into consideration how far she would have had to travel in such a short amount of time. However, she said she will keep an eye on her namus profile.

It's been two years now since Smurfette's probable passing. How could somebody of not come to claim this lovely girl by now? I still can't quite wrap my head around Smurfette, though I'm kind of suspecting her to of had ran away from home where she met this awful fate.

:rose: RIP Smurfette. You've remained unclaimed nearly two years two many now, but we care enough to give you a new name in the meantime. :rose:

I think she was a runaway too. The only thing that stumps me is her location was Harris County/more in the suburbs of Houston. You definitely see panhandlers and the like there but most runaways/homeless are in the city limits.

I do not understand how no one could be concerned about a child's well being. Maybe she was an immigrant w/o parents in the States?
