But now, we are dealing with a high-profile crime and a lot of publicity, bodies found, and a witness. He‘s not gonna talk his way out this time!

Exactly! But it isn't stopping him from trying- he is persistent and bold, I'll give him that. I hope this opens up things for justice for Michael and Jenna, but also all his other potential victims.

The Scotts did everything to keep Jenna safe. She wasn’t allowed to be alone after CM broke into their house. They had a wide circle of friends who helped with this. Michael was one of those trusted friends.

He reminds me of my ex husband. He would argue that the sky is green and somehow convince people that it was true. Pathological liars are very skilled. They’ve honed that skill typically from childhood on. Gaslighting was another thing. He would cheat on me and have me apologizing for it! I don’t doubt for a hot second that CM gaslighted Jenna at every possible opportunity. I also think he’s either a sociopath or psychopath. This is based purely on my personal opinion and experiences. These are the types of people that pass lie detectors with flying colors. They convince even themselves that they did nothing wrong. They’re the most frightening of all people for me. No conscience, no ethics, no morals. Terrifying. This is all JMO, as stated above.

I am beyond sorry for the pain and pure hell that your family has went through, is going through and will have to deal with in the future. I’ve prayed for the families from the start and will continue to do so...prayers for comfort, safety and strength.

My niece, who was studying to get her Masters in counseling, referred to him as a pathological liar and psychopath. I think he’s soulless. And evil. So very, very evil.

I am beyond sorry for your family and Michael’s family’s losses. Reading this again, it truly shocks me anyone would deny her request. You can feel her fear in the statement. :(

I also noticed, and I’m not sure if I had seen it before, that she mentions CM had/has a gang of fighters willing to do his bidding. I do hope LE has thoroughly looked into this group and your families are under protection. If things don’t go his way for the first time, I’d hate for him to use them to try to get witnesses to retract statements. MOO

Thanks for sharing. Killing pets is one of the telltale signs of psychopathy. Zero empathy and empty to the core. :confused:

The thing with psychopaths is you cannot figure them out at first because they are playing on a different field, and while you think they are real (or maybe you wonder if they are too good to be true), they really are only playing games. They are masters of projection and manipulation. Did he love bomb Jenna at the beginning, then gradually switched from being the most wonderful man to being abusive and controlling? Aargh, they always wreak havoc and leave a trail of destruction.

I‘m so sorry Jenna had to meet this toxic creature. I’m sure Michael was a good friend to her, and he sensed that and had to target both of them. :(

Omg, @DebW. I had somehow missed that. I believe Jenna was right about him. He’s a psychopath, most likely. You can’t fix that; it’s his brain pathology, if true. It seems he likely received lots of psychiatric help from a young age. He must’ve shrugged it off. Not every psychopath murders, but he sure has. Any time I hear animal violence as a child, my blood runs cold. I truly can’t imagine the terror he inflicted on Jenna and your family. He was obsessed. How on Earth a Judge denied the protective order is beyond me. “Not comfortable” to extend it, my foot! There’s no way CM had friends that were twisting the Judge’s arm. Any Judge should have reviewed the past behavior and behavior at that time, granting the order. I had a stalker, and that’s when I found out the laws protecting women (or any victims) are severely lacking. I was terrified 24/7. Just from my experience, I can imagine how Jenna felt. And my experience pales in regards to what she suffered for so long. When someone gets in your head, it’s difficult to function. You question every decision you make. You start to believe some of what the person says...that it’s all your fault and you have the mental problem, not them. It’s very confusing, and it can isolate you from family and friends. I’m so thankful that Jenna was able to break through that and see CM for what he is. That takes a lot of strength. She showed nothing but extreme bravery. His need to control her failed. I hope he suffers with the loss of control over his very own life when he’s in prison for the rest of his life. jmo

You are so right, @cybervampira. You worded it perfectly: “masters of projection and manipulation”. It’s scary how easy they can paint the picture of how wonderful they are...until they’ve reeled you in tightly. Then, the mind games and violence begin. Jenna showed extreme courage in breaking free of that. She held her ground against his terror. He couldn’t control her, and I think that’s what really angered him the most.

As he’s done prison time before, I don’t think he should EVER have any option for parole or release. It clearly didn’t deter him from further criminal behavior. He needs to be in a maximum security setting where he cannot escape. He needs to be on Death Row. I hope that’s where they stick him. Too bad there’s not prisons built on locations like Alcatraz was. If we could put him somewhere like that, he’d have a slim chance of ever making it even if he did escape. All JMO.

The Marks interview was conducted through a video visitation service that Bell County uses to let jail inmates talk to defense attorneys and family members. Users are required to submit their name and pay a charge, about $15, to talk by video with jail inmates.

Jail media policies

Reporters are prohibited from using the service because the jail does not allow media to use photography or video recordings in interviews, Maj. T.J. Cruz of the Bell County Sheriff’s Department said.

Jail officials cut the interview after several minutes when they determined a reporter was conducting an interview. Beausoleil did not identify herself as a reporter on the video service, Cruz said.

Marks wouldn’t comment on how he escaped and claimed he’s innocent in the deaths of Scott and Swearingin.

I can only imagine what’s going on with their family, and I am so sorry for their losses, but I did not and had nothing to do with this,‘ Marks said the interview.

In the interview, Marks challenged the account of his girlfriend, Maya Maxwell, who told police Marks killed Scott and Swearingin at his Killeen home on Jan. 3, according to an arrest affidavit. She also said that she was present when their bodies were moved more than 350 miles north and buried in a shallow grave near Clearwater, Okla.

I live where this happened and it is very sad. Cedric Marks is a sociopath and anyone who believes he is innocent is crazy. The fact that he is trying to pin this on Maya Maxwell is ridiculous. She is 110 lbs, and you expect people to believe that she was able to overpowering a woman who was 20 lbs more than her and a man 70 lbs heavier that her, manipulate them into a car, drive 25 minutes, then murder them separately? I think cedric Marks incapacitated them and put them in the car. I think maya helped by driving but I don’t think she committed any murder.

Maya didn’t commit the murders, but she is an accomplice. She’s responsible, not by what she did, but what she failed to do - help Michael and Jenna while they were still alive. It would seem, however, that the main difference between CM and Maya is that Maya has a conscience and probably feels guilty. MOO

Oh I defintely think she is guilty even if she isn’t the one who committed murder. I don’t buy what he says, that the police coerced her. The police here didn’t even take the missing case seriously!! The families had to get Texas Rangers involved to find out what happened.
