In the back of my mind I've wondered if someone wanted to blow up the church and planned on planting a bomb, but realized people were coming in.

But still mostly thinking this was a planned hit on Missy.

That's also why I think the crime scene may be obfuscated. Days after the murder they're literally calling in the big dogs to search for hard-to-find evidence. At first it appeared this was a burglary gone wrong by a male, now as LE looks into more and more, it's calling into question all of how things really are versus how they looked upon initial appearances.

If we are going to zoom out and look at new possibilities, one of the most disturbing is that we are dealing with a calculated serial killer not directly connected to MB, who will move on to other targets in the future. [shudder]

For some reason, neither the police or the media appear to be focused on the possibility of a serial killer. They're not "scared" but just "perplexed."

I believe LE does know the COD. I have to believe the ME from Dallas know what they are doing. In this video from the Today Show they say that gun stores in the area are being contacted to see if anyone walking like the perp came in and bought a gun. Why would they waste their time doing that if a gun was not involved?

Both Missy and her husband post on Facebook publicly. It's easy to see that hubby was out of town hence daughter possibly not going to that morning's boot camp due to younger daughter being home alone. It is stated by Missy on her Facebook that older daughter goes with missy to boot camps, helping her unload/load equipment from car. These Facebook postings being public give the perp the perfect time to attack Missy. I really think it's someone she knows, and that it is a jealous lover, ex-lover, lover's spouse/sig other or stalker. With this small town having little crime, I really think it has to be someone known to this couple . How sad to think you really can't trust some people in your circle.

I agree it is highly likely to be someone they know...my hunch is the husband had nothing to do with it. Maybe one of them could potentially be having an affair and the person responsible is the jilted lover? This is only my opinion based upon what I have read and seen thus far with this case.

Okay, so my thought in this is maybe she was strangled and then hit with a hammer meaning they don't know if she died from lack of oxygen, broken neck etc before she was hit with a hammer or axe or shot. Which may explain why they are perplexed with how strange this is. Maybe one (the ones the students saw) sign of trauma which appeared to be obvious was not. Flor example maybe a student saw a hammer on the ground next to the body and blood on her head but maybe that was done post mortem, maybe she was choked first and so what the students believe was the COD was actually not it. And so maybe it is only the LE and killer know what the cod truly is. ***all of this is just speculation and my views on what could be meant from their [le] odd statement***

Yes, that scenario could definitely cause a delay in determining exact COD. On the topic of strangulation - a mental health expert once told me that the act of strangulation is the most personal, deeply hostile way to kill a person. More than shooting, beating, etc. She said the act of wrapping one's hands around another person's neck, and squeezing the life from them represents the deepest of rage against the victim.

One area that I've looked at, but not taken seriously is a church bomber (like how there was a serial church bomber in Las Cruces where that case hasn't been solved and the bomber seemingly hasn't struck again), but I don't think bombers operate this way and wouldn't go for direct confrontation when they had an opportunity to flee.

I agree the seemingly casual attitude is perplexing. And maybe it points to two people being involved. If you know someone is with you in a situation, it does take some pressure off and allows for a more casual and comfortable way of being.

Total guess. I am starting to think there were two, but that blows my original assumption that this was a jealous rival in a love triangle. If there were two perps, I'm leaning toward a business conflict rather than romantic.

Her father is deceased. The husband discussed with the daughters whether to bury 'Missy' beside her father because she was a Daddy's girl. They decided to bury her locally because she would be closer to them.

It is not uncommon for LE to keep back information like COD from the public during an investigation.
It is also not uncommon for family members to be told things nobody else knows.

The reason it is being discussed is,it is possible that the COD and the alleged COD that the student saw are different
