How about Cheryl Schille Wyant?

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/w/wyant_cherie.html

Her demographics are a match for height and close in weight. She was a little under for the expected age but she looks like she may be a possibility to me especially because of the lack of hygeine (meaning she may have been traveling and hitchhiking from place to place if she was a runaway).

I don't think Cheryl is a match, based simply on the vast age difference between the UID and Cheryl (at least 6 years) and that the faces don't quite seem to match. The UID's facial features are very distinguishable, the nose in particular, and having compared Cheryl's photo with the postmortem photo I just don't think they're the same person.

Great to see new possibles being suggested for this UID though!

Deeds, the MP is a decent likeness for the UID (factoring in the time gap) but I don't think it's her. The scar under the chin of the UID could have occurred during the interval but I don't think the temple pockmarks would have been overlooked at the UID's autopsy, or an ankle scar for that matter.

All credit to you though for researching this it's a good shout and it's great to see this thread, and the fight to find this poor young woman's identity, alive.

I know the stats are way off but I submitted Karen Zendrosky based mainly on the timeframe and the resemblence. Karen went missing on October 22nd 1979 and this UID was found on October 31st 1979. Karen shares several features that the UID has including prominent front teeth and reddish/brown wavy hair.

I just thought that, though I'm less talented than some people here, one more portrait of our girl cannot hurt ;)

Ken Anderson was the WilCo DA that prosecuted Henry Lee Lucas for the murder of this woman. Anderson is in the news again but now as the defendant for criminal contempt of court, tampering with or fabricating evidence and tampering with government records in a 1987 trial that put an innocent man in jail for 25 years.
And he still holds his position of Williamson Co District Judge today.

Saturday, June 27, 1998 BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) -- Gov. George W. Bush on Friday agreed with the state parole board's recommendation not to execute confessed serial killer Henry Lee Lucas.

Bush commuted Lucas' death sentence to life in prison because of lingering doubts about his guilt in the so-called "Orange Socks" slaying.
Williamson County District Attorney Ken Anderson, who prosecuted the Orange Socks case, said he still believes Lucas is guilty.

"Lucas was proved guilty beyond a reasonable doubt to 12 citizens. The case has been reviewed by 23 judges over the past 14 years," Anderson said.

Judge finds that Anderson hid evidence in Morton murder trial
http://www.statesman.com/news/news/local/ken-anderson-court-of-inquiry-resumes/nXRLm/

Friday, April 19, 2013
Former Williamson County District Attorney Ken Anderson was arrested and booked into jail and then released on bail Friday after a specially convened court found that he intentionally hid evidence to secure Michael Morton’s 1987 conviction for murder.

In a blunt and scathing ruling, District Judge Louis Sturns said Anderson acted to defraud the trial court and Morton’s defense lawyers, resulting in an innocent man serving almost 25 years in prison.

I think any case Ken Anderson prosecuted during his long career in Williamson County should be reviewed for evidence tampering/hiding. And I'm leaning that Lucas did not murder this woman.

Not that much of a surprise, but Anderson submitted a letter of resignation less than a month ago.

Among Austin folks - myself included - WilCo has always been regarded a place you do NOT want to get caught doing something on the wrong side of the law. Anderson's long-time tenure as district attorney/district judge was a big part of that.

And I'm leaning that Lucas did not murder this woman.

I think everyone with any knowledge of the case is right there with you. Lucas's conviction in the "Orange Socks" case is absolute, unfettered b.s. Jim Mattox and Dan Morales were certain of his innocence in the case. Hell, then Governor George W. Bush - certainly no opponent of the death penalty - opted to commute his sentence.

Kudos to Anderson. Not only did he convict an innocent man of the murder of "Orange Socks," but in doing so, he ensured her actual killer would remain free.

This UID looks startling like a good friend I had growing up who I still maintain casual contact with. Same heavy brow, same nose, same lips. My friend is full-blood Portuguese from the Azores. I'm not sure where else there are large Portuguese populations, but there is certainly a large presence in central California and I believe it was that way in the 70s, as well. I don't see anyone who looks like her missing from around here, but just wanted to throw out that perspective.

Visited her grave in Georgetown today. I thought some of you might be interested in seeing what her headstone looks like.

The IOOF Cemetery in Georgetown is a pretty large place. Thankfully, a man who takes it upon himself to keep many of its graves clean (shades of Blind Lemon Jefferson) was able to point my girlfriend and me in the right direction.

I'll be returning on Thursday with flowers in hand.

Martha Morrison has been in NamUs for a few years with a no photo casefile. They finally came up with a photo

Her height is a bit off, but she sure looks like Orange Socks to me.

I contacted her sister on Facebook last year, and she said that her brother in Alaska had all of the photos of her. (And I was never able to make contact with the brother). But she did indicate that Martha was emancipated at age 16, and went to Arizona with the Job Corps. She returned to Oregon the August before she turned 18 and left a few weeks later. She was never seen by her family after that.

Whoa. I think that looks a LOT like her--closer than anyone else I've seen! It's crazy to think she could have been missed all these years but overlooked because there was no pic.
