I didn't see this when it first came about but came her when India was mentioned on the missing, now found Sophie Coulson from Northampton.
So, very just read every post here ...

First thought at seeing his court artists impression picture - ooh he looks like Midge Ure!

I'm intrigued what what the Step Mum said BUT - hmmmm I'm not thinking too much cause it's A, a step parents opinion isn't always favourable especially with gown up children - B, people are allowed to and do change in 20 years - C it could be a mountain/molehill thing not something which I'm sure we could all build up in our heads to be horrific ...

The neighbours/someone mentioning newspapers and grease everywhere doesn't fit with the photo from the house sale -

What an utter waste of a young life :( I'm in NO way victim blaming - I'm very much 'women should be able to go and wear and be as drunk as' and be safe but I also want to scream out 'why didn't you just stay in taxi and go home' ... so so sad.

Just thought I'd post some 'breaking news' in the case - I'm local to the area (grew up here, currently living back here temporarily) and my sister just texted me to say that something was going on at the courts and there were lots of news anchors there. I did some googling and found out that Edward Tenniswood was in court today (via videolink) and entered a plea of 'not guilty' to murder. And rape - maybe I'm missing something, but I don't remember this being in the original news reports. So, so awful :( here is the link: http://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/n...woman-india-chipchase-1-7404617#ixzz49qwcFkv2

Not guilty of murder? She was found dead in his house, someone remind me what CoD was?

Question - why have they put the charge dates for rape/murder between the 29th and 1st? The last confirmed sighting was on the 30th..

Thanks for the update Katie...I have just seen the Daily Mail article , sorry can't link at the mo. But they are saying he has denied killing India, which I find very odd. I know that the accused often deny murder, but to deny actually killing her is strange.

ETA. ... I think it might be the Mail, getting the words wrong...as per usual... As I see the Northants article says he denies murder....

'Pressure on neck' so assuming strangulation :(

Uh I bet he will 'explain' that they were involved in this sex game where you strangle the partner for a better orgasm - I can't by the life of me remember how it's actually called, but I think you all know what I mean - and will say it was accidental, hence not murder.

*pukes*

I hate to admit this but the whole time I was reading, I thought "pressure to the neck" sounded like the sexual asphyxia dynamic. Otherwise, why not call it strangled? Perhaps a cultural/language thing, but I just had to admit that is what I was thinking each time I read "pressure to the neck". That phrase allows for so many different scenarios IMO. And unfortunately. so sad for this woman and all those who knew and loved her...

I bet he'll claim it was consensual sex and she died by accident :/ yeah right

Trial due to start July 18, not sure where

Am just putting this up to convince myself that I did read the date of July 18

I cant find anything so far in court listings - and dont actually know where the trial will be held.

Edward Tenniswood, 52, is accused of raping and strangling the doctor's daughter, whose body was found at his terraced house in Northampton.

He made a brief appearance at Northampton Crown Court via video link from Woodhill prison in Milton Keynes.

Tenniswood clearly answered not guilty to both charges.

Judge Rupert Mayo said a defence case statement should be served by June 3rd and adjourned the hearing and set a 2 week trial to begin on July 18.

He remanded Tenniswood in custody.

Am guessing that the taxi driver came forward and this was how the police got on to Tenniswood so quickly,

Birmingham Crown Court heard India was last seen alive at 1.30am the night before, shortly after she had been approached by Tenniswood outside NB’s nightclub in Northampton.

Christopher Donnellan QC, prosecuting, said: “At 3.45pm on the afternoon of January 31 this year, the body of India Chipchase was found laid out on a mattress covered in a duvet cover-type sheet in a bedroom in Stanley Road, Northampton.

“She was aged just 20.

“She had last been seen alive 1.30am on the night before, shortly after she had been approached by the defendant as she stood outside NB’s nightclub in Northampton.

“She was led by him - or steered or escorted by him - to a taxi, which took her not to her home but to an area [near Stanley Road].”

More from the Prosecution opening statement - interesting the part about womens clothes around the house

Her death was no dreadful accident because obviously had it been, the defendant would have called for an ambulance or started CPR or called for help.

“What he did was to remove her belongings and place them around the house.

“There were lots of other items in the house including women’s clothes and shoes distributed around the house.

“He had put on a pair of clear plastic vinyl gloves, they were later found in a bag of rubbish with India’s blood on the outside of the gloves.

“Why did he kill her? He alone knows what his motive was.

So from the info so far, it seems Tenniswood killed India in the early hours of Saturday morning, and then went and checked into a local hotel, leaving her body behind in his house.
He was still at the hotel when he was arrested on the Sunday evening.

A bookkeeper allegedly told a doctor's daughter he would 'get her home safe' before coaxing her back to his house where he raped and throttled her to death, a court has heard.

Edward Tenniswood, 52, was loitering outside NB's cocktail bar in Northampton in the early hours of January 30 when he spotted India Chipchase sitting on a step in a 'very drunk' state.

At the time, the 20-year-old had been separated from friends and a doorman who was concerned for her welfare had already put her into a taxi, in a bid to get her home.

But, the court was told how, in her 'pickled state', Miss Chipchase got out of the vehicle. Tenniswood then allegedly approached the young woman and 'led, steered or escorted' her into another taxi.

The following day, the private schoolgirl was found dead at Tenniswood's flat, half-a-mile away from the bar. A post-mortem examination found she had died from pressure to the neck.
