Don't think I've heard this info before but forgive me if you all have ...

Evie died from Tramadol & Diazepam overdose - drugs not prescribed for her but instead purchased by Jordan on the black market and supposedly given to her by him without her knowledge.

Also - the 'suicide letter' was typed (not handwritten and only Jordan fingerprints were found on it! Plus a forensic linguist has indicated that it was written by Jordan, not Evie.

Can't wait to hear the guilty verdict on this guy!

From yesterday:
_____

On Friday October 11 2019, Evie Adams and Jordan Monaghan went on a weekend away to Blackpool with friends Kimberley Edwards and her boyfriend Jamie Rasheed.

Kimberley's grandmother, Christine Martin, told the court her granddaughter complained of feeling unwell following the trip.

She said Kimberley, Jamie and Evie all complained of "food poisoning" and said they were suffering abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.

On October 19 Mrs Martin, a qualified, nurse, spoke to Evie on Facetime. She told the court Evie said her legs "felt like lead" and she could hardly move.

She said: "Evie when she was talking to me, it wasn't her normal bubbly voice, so I would say she was suffering more than Kim.

"She wasn't able to eat or drink. She wasn't even able to keep water down."

Mrs Martin said she tried to get to the bottom of what was wrong with Evie and asked if she could be pregnant. She advised her to see a doctor, she told the court.

"They all said they had food poisoning. I did ask whether Jordan had been with them because he didn't have any symptoms."

Report from yesterday

"Monaghan denied being in contact with another man, Tom Bank, and others to buy prescription drugs, instead telling police the contact was to do with planning a Halloween party or to do with work, Preston Crown Court heard.

Records gathered by detectives showed a series of WhatsApp, Snapchat or phone calls from the phone used by Monaghan on the day of, and in the days leading up to, the death of Miss Adams on October 24 2019.

But Monaghan denied he made any such calls as his police interviews were read out to the jury.

[...]

On the night Miss Adams died at the house they shared in Hazel Close, Blackburn, Monaghan travelled to the Wigan area, and told officers he went to look at a drainage job at a gym car park in Hindley.

The prosecution say Monaghan was deliberately distancing himself from Miss Adams as the mother-of-one lay dying.

Detectives tracked Miss Adams' phone showing it travelled the same route as Monaghan's.

The jury was read statements from gym owners in Hindley, all denying making any inquiries about a drainage job or knowing Jordan Monaghan.

The jury heard that five days before Ms Adams's death, a message was sent from Mr Monaghan's phone asking for "pregabs", a shortening of anti-anxiety medication pregabalin.

The same day, another message recovered from the phone of one of Mr Monaghan's contacts stated: "On car park. Red jeep."

During police interviews, which were read to the jury, Mr Monaghan denied he made the calls or sent the message.

He admitted using a red jeep hire car, but denied the message was to do with him.

Report from Monday -

A jury at Preston Crown Crown, Lancs, was told that Monaghan's idiosyncratic style was 'consistent, highly distinctive' from that of Evie's 'suicide note' from October 22, 2019.

And Dr Isabel Picornell – an expert in forensic linguistics – said she believed he was 'writing to disguise his own style and, if possible, adopt his ex's.

[...]

Mr Smith asked if the format of the suicide note was consistent with Miss Adam's style and Dr Picornell replied: 'No, it is not.

'There no significant similarities and there are substantial dissimilarities and it is not compatible at all.'

The trial was told how Dr Picornell had compared handwritten notes, diary extracts, and social media posts by both Evie Adams and Monaghan with the suicide note.

A late report -

A father accused of murdering his two children has told how he tried to save their lives by performing CPR.

He replied 'definitely not' when Ben Myers, QC, defending, asked if he had caused the siblings harm or contributed to their deaths.

He said: 'I was depressed when it happened. I love my children.'

He is also accused of murdering his new partner, Evie Adams, 23, by giving her an overdose of Tramadol and diazepam on October 24 in 2019.

Monaghan denies this and told the jury: 'I loved Evie Adams at the time she died.'

[...] on Monday he admitted to the jury at Preston Crown Court that he lied to police, although he denied it was anything to do with his partner Evie Adams and said the drugs were for himself.

[...]

Ben Myers QC, defending, asked Monaghan why he did not tell the truth until now.

The defendant replied: “Because the police were out to get me in my view, so I didn’t want to admit buying drugs, so I lied.

“Because it was hard to get out of the lie. But eventually I knew I had to tell the truth.”

Monaghan also told the trial at Preston Crown Court, Lancs, that Miss Adams would often threaten to commit suicide. [...]

The jury was told how Miss Adams had been adopted as a child and had a poor relationship with her parents, who 'regretted adopting her' and told her they would have been 'better off if we hadn't have taken you in.'

Monaghan added Miss Adams had received death threats, which she reported to the police.

He said: 'She told her mum who said 'maybe we would all be better off if you did go and kill yourself'.'

Presumably this is all according to the defendant, it certainly isn't being presented as an agreed fact of the case since he's still in the witness box and agreed facts are read to the jury separately. It doesn't have the ring of truth to me!

Trying to trim this short article down to stay within the 10% rule - sorry for the chopped sentences

[...] at 1.45am, Monaghan said he came downstairs following a visit to the bathroom to find Ruby "sprawled out" in her Moses basket. [...] Her mum travelled with her to hospital but Monaghan remained at home. [....] when Monaghan spoke to Ms Gray, the court heard he said: "I know" - in reference to Ruby having died.

Monaghan said he had spoken to a nurse, but the jury heard agreed evidence that no-one from the hospital had told Monaghan his daughter had died as it would be against protocol.

Andrew Smith QC, prosecuting, said: "You knew because you knew exactly what you had done - just as you knew Ruby was dead when you called Laura Gray downstairs. You intended to kill Ruby."

Monaghan replied: "No, I did not."

Jordan Monaghan denies killing babies 'to keep relationship with mum together'

She had texted Monaghan: 'I took all them (sic) tablets you gave me today as well as just took 10 co-codamol and 10 paracetamol because I don't want to live no more.

'And I will carry on taking more.'

Monaghan told Preston Crown Court the pills Miss Adams was referring to was the paracetamol he had bought for her previously.

The jury was told how internet searches had been found on Miss Adams' phone which included 'How many tablets do I have to take to go to hospital?'; 'What medication do I have to take to overdose?'; and 'Help for suicidal thoughts'. [...]

Monaghan said: 'The paramedic asked me if she could have taken anything and he asked me to have a look to see if there was anything about in the house.

'He asked me to check about to see if there was anything she could have taken. I did check and outside the bedroom were some empty packets of paracetamol, which I picked up and passed to him.'

Monaghan added: 'The police asked us if there was any other medication that she could have taken.

'That's when we told them, there was a strip of tramadol and that there were four missing from it, so she had obviously taken four.'

Monaghan denied supplying the tramadol and said he believed the doctor had prescribed it.

Father, 30, 'murdered son and daughter to save his failing relationship', court hears | Daily Mail Online

The jury heard that on the day Mr Monaghan took Logan to the swimming pool, his relationship with Miss Gray was on the rocks.

Logan appeared, "happy, talking, behaving normally", and CCTV showed them at reception at 14:06 GMT, then leaving the swimming centre 27 minutes later.

Mr Monaghan said he got changed but then realised he had forgotten his son's swimming cap so they could not go in the pool.

Mr Smith said CCTV showed Mr Monaghan leaving at 14:33 GMT with the rain cover pulled over a pushchair to disguise the fact his son was dead.

When he returned home he told Miss Gray that Logan was sleeping, then left the property, telling her to wake him up, to ensure he was "putting distance" between him and the discovery that the toddler was dead, the court heard.

[...]

Mr Smith said six years later, Evie Adams told him their relationship was over, a relationship she described as "toxic" in messages recovered from her phone.

Jordan Monaghan: Man denies killing son at pool

During cross-examination, Mr Smith asked the defendant: “In those 27 minutes that you were alone with Logan in the lower part of Waves, what were you doing to him?”

Monaghan replied: “I wasn’t doing anything to him.”

Mr Smith continued: “You were obstructing his airways, weren’t you?”

Monaghan said: “No, I was waiting for a cubicle.”

The prosecutor said: “It was there that you killed Logan.”

[...]

Monaghan had replied to [Evie Adams] : “I won’t keep putting up with you saying we are over.”

Mr Smith said that despite Monaghan claiming to be taking prescription medication no one had described seeing any side effects on him.

He added: “Because you weren’t the person taking the drugs you obtained?”

“Yes I was,” Monaghan replied.
