Imo, rape is difficult enough to prove in cases when the victim can speak...
Not sure how rape can be proven in this case unless she was found with clothing torn, bruising, etc...
I don't think it can just be assumed he raped her. I think there has to be evidence of each element of the crime.

The CCTV of her leaving the club with him was shown on Irish TV last night, she had her arms folded and he seemed to point ahead at something. I have a gut feeling he fed her some sob story about his coma etc in order for her to feel sorry for him.

I understand why prosecutors might want to keep charges clear and simple, but if a suspect has admitted to having sex with a person police believe he then went on to murder, I would have hoped there'd be grounds for an additional rape charge.
I worry about this because I'm thinking ahead; convicted killers do regularly get released and if there's no sex offences on their records they don't get put on a sex offenders' register.

No chance, there is an Accident and Emergency literally right across the road from the nightclub.
I do think she went willingly with him for some reason - it doesn't matter why she went with him - what happened next is what really matters.

Sorry for ranting but I wish the media would leave Karen's parents and brothers alone to grieve privately. Seeing the photos of them distraught in articles online and in the newspapers is very unpleasant, inappropriate and unnecessary.
Rte.ie try the rte player a programme called prime time from last night, not sure it's available outside of Ireland.
What was this on? I very much want to see it!

Yes I know...just saying there must have been evidence of rape, Imo. Injuries, etc...not indicating consensual acts.
I wonder if he has any scratches, etc...

Thanks for your link yeah I can view it ok as well I couldn't on my ipad. You have to watch a couple of adverts first but it does play. Karen is walking close right beside him and doesn't appear alarmed or distressed. It is extremely sad watching it knowing she is no longer with us and she likely didn't know the danger she was in.
If you can view the above link on rte player the cctv footage is 2 minutes in. At first she seems to be walking slightly behind him but then they are walking side by side, it is only a few seconds but she seems to be walking along willingly and not falling all over the place drunk/spiked. It looks like they are walking quickly but the cctv is sped up. I think her arms are folded because she was cold.
Even though it just looks like two people walking down the road normally it is creepy as hell to watch.

It has been suggested by some people online that Karen might have met him from his treatment for his car accident but I don't know if that is true. Maybe he knew her through a friend or online or they had seen each other around in clubs.I am sure all of us have questions about how this happened maybe we will never know why Karen left the club with him without telling her friends and without her jacket.

It only works on my macbook I couldn't watch it on my iPad or iPhone either it must be a flash video that doesn't work with iPhones or Ipads.
