It sounds like they managed to trace her walking from Sauchiehall Street to Broomielaw on cctv.

There really isn't a reason to go that direction at night if you live in Robroyston, it's the wrong direction and there aren't any pubs/clubs/takeaways on it. The only place I can even think of near there is a 24 hour Mcdonalds in Finneston but you'd be much quicker walking down St Vincent Street to get to it and there are dozens of takeaways on and around Sauchiehall Street.

I think it is most likely she jumped in the river sadly. I cycle along Broomielaw a lot and It's quite normal to me to see the Humane Society out searching for a body. The fences by the river always have flowers attached to them. I once saw a man trying to jump off the "squiggly" bridge but some people saved him.

But, why would they be searching upstream? It's really puzzling me....

To rule it out. There isn't a clear indication of where exactly she would have entered the river. They'd start at the beginning and keep working downstream so every likely area is covered.

The Humane Society are based maybe half a mile upstream. They probably have decided to cover a specific amount of ground starting off from the Riverboat area and working downstream. I think they search quite methodically, they've located plenty of other bodies.

Yes I suppose they know where the usual spots are.

I wish they'd put CCTV on river bridges. We see the same happening over again - rivers such as the Ouse and Tyne have featured here on several occasions.

I wonder if she implied she might kill herself when she left the club, if it's true there was an argument of some kind. Life might have been a real struggle for Kirsty despite being pretty and popular. But for her 4 lovely kiddies sake I hope she didn't.

What a beautiful woman!! Robroyston is totally in the opposite direction from Broomielaw. No one would purposely walk along Broomielaw unless heading somewhere, its a main road, but can feel very desolate. Close to homeless accomodation, red light etc.
O/T now but can I also say that in the 10 years I lived in Glasgow, i had some bloody scary licensed taxi rides.

I wonder if she had any friends down this area?
I really don't know why she would have been heading down there unless to see someone or the river sadly.
It's away from any transport home.
No way would I wander about Glasgow myself never mind down that area. I was actually passing there on Sunday to go shopping but she wouldn't have been reported missing yet.
Very worried about this girl.

I find this video wonderful. I wish we would utilize SL interpreters more. We could reach so many more people if we did! I also didn't realize how similar but then again different ASL and BSL are. (My best friend from childhood is deaf and my oldest son is an ASL interpreter )

Many thanks to all of you for your posts and news updates. Skibaboo thanks so much for doing the map your a great help. It's a big worry Kirsty may have fallen in the water or may have been propositioned by a kerb crawler. Glasgow has a red light district and I know from female relatives they can get hassle from guys walking in the city centre at night in pairs or a small group. It's awful to think of Kirsty possibly being hurt or in distress and not being able to shout for help. I hope she had her mobile phone on and they can track it. I wonder when Kirsty's bank card was last used too. Coming back from gigs etc over the years it is common to see women walking barefoot with their heels in their hands as their feet hurt.

Appears very our of character for this young lady to go missing, I hope she gets home to her children soon!

Campus is a very well known nightclub in Glasgow. Has anyone heard anything about attempts to trace the taxi she got into? I am saying this based on my own experience and knowledge but there are not many who would get into a taxi on their own in Glasgow city centre at that hour (or any hour for that matter) so surely a taxi driver would recall this pickup, especially considering how quickly news of Kirsty being missing got about.

Glasgow is notorious for fake taxis, not always easily identifiable imo. There have been quite a number of reported incidents over the last 5 years or so.

I agree, I'm from Glasgow too and fake taxis are becoming more and more visible. They are quite out in the open in town at the weekend, shouting from the street to offer lifts. They know on a Friday or Saturday night some people who have been drinking, will be just wanting to get home and risk it. The fact Kirsty's now been spotted at Broomielaw suggests she didn't get the taxi but to walk from Campus down to Broomielaw is not something anyone would choose to do at that time of night without a reason. Most likely you would wait in the taxi queue just along at the Garage club. The River Clyde itself definitely needs more CCTV.

Just see this story Woman suffers horrific injuries after being dragged along road by fake 'taxi'

Hi everyone, have been following this case since it's been in the news, but only just found the thread.
I have only just moved away from Glasgow.

Seems so strange that she would head towards Broomielaw. I've been on many many Glasgow nights out and that's just a weird direction to wander. Nothing down that way. Not even a particularly inviting part of town in the daylight.

I do wonder about the curb crawler angle. I remember walking up high street alone around midnight once and a car slowing right down beside me. Luckily he must have realised I wasn't "working" and kept driving, but there are definitely men out and about looking for women to pick up.

I too am a woman from the area, that part of Sauchiehall St is most likely the busiest part of Glasgow at that time of the evening, you have multiple clubs there at that spot and right outside Campus is the dental hospital where everyone gets taxis etc.

The facts -
- She had an argument
- She left and there's no mention of her saying to her friends she was leaving
- She walked to the broomielaw and is seen on cctv

There are very few reasons to walk there. There is NOTHING there. You would not even meet someone there. I'm not getting the feeling of fowl play as she purposefully went there in the first place which is just so odd?!

I have thoughts but don't want to say it 😟

Off topic, but if you subscribe to the UK Thread (in my link below) you'll be notified when anyone adds a new case to the list. It's up to everyone to keep it updated as our few cases are easy to lose in the new posts pages.

If anyone's not sure how to subscribe, you just click thread tools above the top post and add it to your case list.

Could she possibly have been heading to visit someone in that area? Are there any residential areas or flats she might have been heading to?

The sad fact is, she's a mom of four and possibly a single mum at that. If she was alive and ok she'd have made contact. I'm fearing the river was her destination but hoping for the best.

Part of a post from the FB page, 3 hours ago (6:19pm)

".....three of us was out searching to find Kirsty at Festival Park. We saw a man and woman walking a dog looking at us. So we explained and showed a photograph of Kirsty. They said it looked like the same person with clothes and face they saw. They said they been saw this person last night. We asked them to show us where they seen the person. It was not in Festival Park, it was near Govan Road and showed us where exactly. The witness gave me her details in which we gave to the police"

I'm sure there is some flats, I'm pretty sure of that but further along and I'm not sure exactly where she was on the street and I think the flats are further along.
A casino?
There is a bride that crosses over The Clyde river but that takes you to a very dark place. Even where she was a long a bit is big dark arches from the train station. I will try post some street view pictures but I'm not entirely sure of which direction on the street she was sheen on camera.

Yes there are flats over the Broomielaw. A friend used to live over there, you would walk across the "Squinty Bridge" just past the casino and it would take you over to quite a lot of flats just to the right of the bridge. Honestly, the amount of times she would insist she was walking home from town. We used to have to practically drag her into a taxi to drop her off. After a few drinks she thought she was invincible, but even she knew she would never dream of doing that walk at night when sober.

The casino is really the only thing along Broomielaw open at that time and even then it's quite exclusive. You can't just walk in off the street at 4am and expect to get in. I know a lot of night buses do one last run about 3.30. I don't know if any of the night buses Kirsty could get would have a stop down towards Broomielaw/Jamaica Street that might make her think that was a way to get home?

Can anyone local say - IF these witnesses were correct and they did see Kirsty in Govern Road - is Govern road on the same side or opposite side of the river? I've looked on Google maps and it looks to be on the oppose side from the Campus club.

Reminding me a bit of the Caroline Everest - Sheffield case :(

I think it's Govan Road, over the other side of the river near Festival Park.

What was the outcome of Caroline's case? I have seen that come up in ages.
