If it was Leah at the lake. She must have been having some kind of emotional episode strong enough to overlook the fact she was due at work. Because she would have been late at that point but had not phoned in to apologise or call sick. The issue was more important to her than her work. Just MO.

Agreed, because there was something reported about Leah being reliable as she had worked a shift at McDonalds when she couldn't get cover?

Her father reported that Leah would not miss a shift even when it meant she would miss a family wedding.

One could be cynical and think perhaps Leah did not want to attend the wedding!

Teen may have met someone on Valentine's Day before vanishing
From the article

Police say the teenager had confided in friends that she was unhappy with a relationship she was in.

Det Ch Insp Howard said: "One of the real lines of enquiry is around trying to understand Leah as a person and what was going on in her life at the time.

"We have identified that she was telling friends that she had a number of stress factors and things going on that were causing her anxiety and upset.

"There was a number of things going on, not one particular thing really stands out.

"But it is evident that there was a relationship that Leah was involved in that was not turning out or developing the way Leah hoped it would have done.

"So there clearly were some factors going on in Leah's life at that time."

[Wrote a summary because it will disappear from the BBC website at some point]

Timeline on the 14th
  • Leah walked home on the 14th.
  • Her location setting was turned off in the Furzton Lake area before arriving home. [So it sounds like the 5:20 time is correct and not 5:45 like some articles have reported].
  • When Leah came home she had a brief chat with her mum and got changed into normal clothes (joggers).
  • Leah said she was going to a friend's house and left on foot just after 6pm. It's possible someone may have picked her up further down the road but she didn't phone a taxi.
  • She was home by 7/7:15 and ordered herself a takeaway because she didn't like the meal her parents were making.
  • Her mum asked Leah if her friend is okay and she said yes. No sign of anything untoward.
Info on the 15th
  • On the 15th she was last seen on CCTV at 8:13. Her phone was turned off at 8:34.
  • Police assume, based off previous days, that she might have been on the same side of Furzton Lake as where the clothes were found the other day.
  • Her parents only found out Leah lied about where she went after she disappeared and her friend said they didn't see her. None of her other friends saw her either.
  • They've known about this lie for a while, but her parents agreed to do a public appeal for information on the 14th as the line of inquiry has come to a dead end and they need the public to come forward with information.
  • If anyone was with Leah during this 90 minutes, they desperately need this person to come forward so that the police can rule out this time frame as being connected to her disappearance.
  • Leah's mum has no idea where she may have gone, and from her point of view there would be no reason for her to lie. Her mum has no problems with her friends; they're welcome at the Crouchers and Leah's welcome to go to anyone else's. She's 19 years old and her friends are "decent people". The fact that she lied is a huge red flag for her mum.
  • They're not 100% certain Leah turned off the location settings and she and John have come up with loads of theories. Technically it's possible someone else changed her settings on her phone without her knowledge but there's no evidence of that.
  • They've contacted Samsung and Google and Leah never turned off her location settings before that evening, not even once.
  • Leah's mum has read lots of comments on FB saying that it seems like her mum thought Leah was kidnapped at the beginning and now she thinks she's run away. Her mum says her views haven't changed, she simply doesn't want to think of her daughter as being locked up somewhere or killed. She has to force herself to believe that Leah has run away to cope day to day. If she thinks that Leah is "at the bottom of the lake somewhere" she won't be able to cope.
  • It's hard enough to stay positive without comments online saying the family are putting out mixed messages.

Also to further add thoughts to the mix. If the girl by the lake was indeed Leah then she definitely had a second phone. If she had a second phone then why the need to change her location services? Just leave the phone behind at home and take the second one.
Sorry for being slow, but I seem to have lost track. Is there a possibility she had another phone?

That article really adds a new dimension to this story doesn't it. Voluntarily shutting of location services the night before, lying about where she was going...

Perhaps she did run-away?

Edit: Perhaps she disabled the location services not to hide from her parents but from someone else.

Just coming right out to wonder if for example L. was pregnant, would she be likely to hide that from her mother?
Would she go off somewhere in order to secretly give birth or to prevent one?
Complete (hopeful) speculation, imo.
While there are exceptional cases of women hiding or not being aware of a pregnancy (usually involving rather larger-proportioned ladies), I believe it is unlikely Leah was anywhere close to term. I assume you mean that she may have run away to keep the pregnancy and not have to defend herself to family or friends?

If she wanted an abortion, she would just have to go to her GP and be less than 24 weeks pregnant.

If she was pregnant, it's certainly possible she would have kept this to herself given her reported personality.

Leah's mum says in the interview that the clothing found the other day by Furzton lake was in the same area that Leah's phone was last located at 8.34 on the morning she disappeared. So which side of the lake was this clothing found, the Chaffron Way side? If so then that would place Leah very near to her place of work then, maybe only 5 minutes or so away when she seemingly vanished.

This is still not absolutely known (to us). The way I heard it, Leah's mum said police based this on previous routes taken. So IF she took the same route as previous routes, then she would be in that area where the clothes were found.
But anyway, yes, she was only 5-10 minutes walk away from work, and probably on the North-east side of the lake at 08.34

Does anyone know if theoretically lc was pregnant, if the police are allowed to obtain this information from her gp or any other pregnancy care related sources who may know, with her being missing? Or is it all still confidential even when someone is missing etc?

'Devastated' parents of missing Milton Keynes girl Leah Croucher speak out about daughter's lie the night before she vanished
New statement from Leah's parents

"Her father John said: "Please we beg you all. Think back to Valentine's Day. Did you see Leah that night? Do you know someone who said they were with her? Help us find where she went."

He added: "It was a devastating blow when we realised she hadn't been where she said. It's almost impossible to believe she would have fibbed. She had no reason to as far as we know. Please help us find what happened that night. It may be the nugget the police need to find out what happened to her."

Her dad said: "It's so long now since we saw our wonderful daughter. Heard her laugh. Made her favourite meal. Washed her clothes. Gave her a hug. The days still all merge together. Time stands still. Our heartache grows by the minute however. It seems the human body has unlimited capacity for despair."

He added: "We would again like to thank the police this week for their quick response to the clothing found at Furzton lake. As usual they kept us informed every step of the way in as compassionate way as possible. It was a bittersweet moment. We were SO grateful it had nothing to do with our beautiful Leah. But upset we still have no news of Leah's whereabouts or welfare."

The way I heard the interview was that police were guessing that due to Leah’s previous routes the last couple of days prior to her disappearance, IF she took the same route on the 15th she would have been approximately at the same location the clothes were found when her phone was switched off at 8.34am. She was also around the Furzton lake area on the 14th at approx 5.20pm when the location button was turned off. The last couple of days prior to her disappearance Leah had been walking the east side of the Lake ( opposite side to Chaffron way ).

There is a car park close by. I do get the feeling/impression she got/was put in a car..either by someone she knew or not .
