AW just stood by, as her boyfriend bullied and mistreated her very young son. She sat and ate KFC at the dinner table, while her little boy was forced to sit on the floor, denied the fried chicken, but given cold cereal instead, as punishment. She knew he was forced to stand and stare at the wall for long periods of time, for a 4 and 5 yr old. He was isolated from others---probably because of the bruises and the injuries, that needed to stay hidden.

And on top of that we have severe internal injuries, a broken clavicle, other fractures, an eye injury, other wounds, and his mother did nothing to help him other than give him some aspirin and allow him to watch Pokemon with her occasionally. The doctors testified that he would have been in a lot of pain and would have looked very ill, with pale skin, nausea, probably moaning and unable to move correctly or easily. He would not have been able to eat because of the internal injuries. There was blood soaked into his mattress and bedding.

So I am not going to give her the benefit of the doubt and say she didn't know or understand what kind of shape he was in . I don't think she really cared about him that much. JMO MOO

The cruelty AW exhibited towards her child is unforgivable. IMO, she'd already broken his spirit so taking his life was inevitable. Also, can't stop thinking about her feigned displays of being distraught -- how she could turn it on and off when she believed it suited her.

John Cole called to give evidence
The trial resumes. David Elias QC calls his client John Cole to give evidence.

The defendant gives his full name as John Michael Cole and confirms he is 40 years old. He was born in Rugby, Warwickshire, and lived in the Midlands before moving to Wales.

He said he’s been known as Jay for 30 years after his sister gave him the nickname. She died in 2006.

He moved to Bridgend in 2017. He says at the time he was in a relationship with someone other than Angharad Williamson.

That PJ top was ripped into bits as well. I first assumed there was a slight rip to the collar maybe, but the evidence was that it was destroyed way beyond what a violent grab would have caused. They all mentioned it though (if I remember correctly) so it has relevance.

I think JC or the so called youth tore it up violently and put it in the woods thinking it wouldn’t be found. Why did they need to hide it? They must have thought something incriminating was on it. There was no blood according to dna. Tearing it like that, suggests anger to me, rage even. Did that happen indoors, and that rage was the evidence that needed hiding?

Lying about the PJ top brings them all together in what happened. It’s important, IMO.

That's an interesting observation.

The top (a favourite one iirc) makes me think of poor Arthur L-H's favourite football shirt, which was cut to shreds in front of his eyes.

Maybe the PJ top is where the fatal attack started, ripping it up to make Logan cry, then escalating in rage, especially if he was already too hurt to react as much as they'd hoped. As the starting point of a narrative they're all trying to rewrite, it would seem very important even though forensically it's not really.

When she was out on the front yard, laying out crying, 'My son needs me, he is cold and scared and he needs his mum'---I really am surprised that lightning didn't strike her at that moment for telling such rubbish as he lay dying.

I think at the “youth’s” - he already alluded to that didn’t he?
I can’t wait to hear this. Hope he hangs them all.
Yes, but he raised they youth since he was a baby and I think he truly sees him as his own. And I wonder if he has heard that the youth had his back and was pointing towards AW as the most guilty one?

It could be that having heard her statements exonerating herself and saying he hit Logan he has decided to return the favour.

Used to get Logan to do press-ups to 'burn up energy'
Defendant John Cole, Logan Mwangi's stepfather, was asked by his barrister David Elias QC how he and his partner and co-defendant Angharad Williamson punished Logan.

He said: “Put him in his bedroom and put him in the naughty corner. We got him to sit there until he calmed down…. In the closest one….. Five minutes, 10 minutes at times.”

Mr Elias said: “Were there any occasions you got him to do press-ups?”

Cole said: “Yes to burn up energy. When he was running around and hyperactive we’d burn off that energy.”

Mr Elias said: “Did you discuss doing that with Angharad?”

Cole said: “Yes. She didn’t disagree with it.”

The defendant was also asked about not letting Logan eat certain foods.

Cole said: “We used to have takeaway nights and stuff. If he’d been really naughty we wouldn’t have given him the takeaway but we’d give him other food….. It happened probably three or four times.”

Mr Elias said: “How was your relationship with Logan?”

Cole said: “I still tried with him every day, spent time with him, taught him phonics, taught him to shuffle, do you want more…. I was teaching him to read, how to draw, how to colour.”
