This is exactly my thoughts. Worries me someone quite intelligent with a lot of planning could be behind this disappearance and it's working perfectly for them so far.
Someone could have wanted to make it look like she she drowned in a freak accident leaving the scene perfect for the police and media and public to speculate as it was with the dog, harness and phone near the river like that. I do hope that police have considered this.
Remember, Police have CCTV and have door-knocked for Ring CCTV footage etc for the whole area.
They have a pretty detailed picture of who entered and exited those lanes.
It would seem they are confident everyone is accounted for and NB never left.

Lancashire Constabulary - MFH Nicola Bulley - latest update

I think a lot of the issues here with the timeline and why it is still being questioned is that it is different on the latest news update from the police to what was said in the actual news confernce just adds to the confusion. IMO

For example:-

'Nicola, 45, was last seen on Friday morning (January 27th) at around 9.20am on the footpath by the river off Garstang Road.'

In the news conference it states that the phone was on the bench at 09.20 and she was last seen by the witness at 09.10.

Oh my.

Medical episode?
This is what I keep thinking.

A local runner from our area had a cardiac arrest whilst out running last year. She was in her early 30’s. No sign of any problems previously. It was heartbreaking.

Another lady I knew was on a small stepladder, stocktaking in her shop, and had a catastrophic brain haemorrhage. Nothing to indicate this was about to happen.

Both so sudden, shocking and sad.

Had something similar happened to Nicola, I suspect there would have been evidence on the grass/bank of a body rolling wouldn't there? (Just thinking out loud!)

It's the nature of the emergency which remains unclear. The police have speculated (despite discouraging others from doing so) that NB had 'an issue' with her dog. But the dog was found dry and healthy (although agitated) soon after she disappeared. It is difficult to imagine an issue so pressing that would cause NB to spring up from the bench, lose her footing/balance and end up helpless in the water.

Despite the police hypothesis there is absolutely ZERO physical evidence to support an accidental drowning or their hypothesis so far. Since when did the police start using hypothetical theories in the media instead of basing their investigations solely on the evidence alone. Is this something they usually do?

I will be very interested to see the scale of MSM presence in St Michaels from tomorrow onwards. As sad as this case is, if the police are correct in what they announced today, it will be nowhere near as newsworthy going forward.
I often feel the press know more than they can say.

I had hoped they would find some clues today that could point them to a definitive answer as to what happened to NB and get some form of closure. I can’t begin to imagine how her family must be feeling. IMO it does seem strange that nothing bar her phone and the dogs harness and lead have been found, I would of at the least expected her car keys to fall out of her pocket during a fall/roll into the river or if there had been a tennis ball straying into the river for it to it appeared somewhere as a clue. MOO

I think it's also common sense to assume that she would be very aware of the river and the dangers it would present given she was both local and a regular walker/runner of that route.

Not disagreeing and value your response - just finding it hard to understand it's as simple and easy as being stated, plus reports and theories have all been difficult to follow this week - wellies weigh a person down, gilet is heavy, gilet is light...where's the wellies anyway? And Fitbit? They'd come off surely?
I don’t think wellies would come off (JMO)

Two unrelated things I have thought - and apols if these have been said, I haven’t read all the comments since the press conference:

1. From the BBC News reporting: ‘Supt Riley urged people to "pay heed to those very specific clothing descriptions" and advised the public to "keep themselves safe" in the search for Ms Bulley.’

Without wanting to sound flippant, if someone spotted poor Nicola in the river, they probably wouldn’t need really accurate clothing descriptions - there is unlikely to be more than one person there to be spotted.

Unless this is to avoid lots of calls where people have seen someone resembling/dressed like Nicola walking about. Which could be a possibility. But also speaks to a glimmer of hope that they may think she’s out there to be seen..?

Nicola Bulley: Missing mother fell in river, police believe Nicola Bulley: Missing mother fell in river, police believe

2. Something that only just occurred to me - potentially Nicola is on her phone, not looking at Willow. Suddenly looks up, Willow not in sight.

Nicola assumes Willow is in the water (wouldn’t have heard a splash as on conference call) panics, leaves phone, can’t see Willow in water, leans over the bit where there’s an overhang and topples in from there.

Would explain Willow being dry and there being no skid marks as she would have fallen straight from the edge of the bank.

Massively upsetting whatever and however it’s happened. Poor Nicola and family.

Press conference said the Garstang Road was the only exit not covered by cctv
This was a major issue with todays press conference.
Most people seem to think the Super Intendant was excellent but she couldn’t get the name of the road correct. She repeatedly called it Garstang Lane. It is Garstang Road. This road and the exits onto it are still a big part of their hypothesis. There are 2 exits. It would have even helpful if she specified which exit onto Garstang Road was not covered by CCTV

I would imagine this is because Garstang Road itself does have CCTV, just not the lane exit.
This right here, is what everyone should be focused on.

If you see my post above the police still havent got the timings right either compared to what was said in the news conference.IMO
