Hmmn she's a nurse so should know the difference but the part about the insulin isn't a direct quote from her so could be the journalist's interpretation I guess. I think the original source is an interview she gave to Sky news.

@marynnu ETA here's the interview. She does say insulin levels. She says he had an insulin level of somebody who had just taken insulin. See what you make of it...

There's also the mother who was a nurse at the hospital whose baby's insulin levels spiked after she made a complaint about LL. He was born March 2016!

A mother has said she fears Lucy Letby spiked her baby's insulin levels in revenge for a complaint she made after the killer nurse told her 'not to get her hopes up', as she was today found guilty of seven murders and six attempted murders.

Lynsey Artell gave birth to her son Asa in March 2016, during nurse Letby's killing spree in the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital, where she was also a nurse...

Ms Artell told Sky News that she was having a conversation with her husband about how their son was getting on when Letby, who had overheard the conversation, came over.

She said while Letby was not Asa's nurse and was covering another person on break, she interrupted their conversation.

The killer nurse told them: 'I don't like parents getting their hopes up because we never know what could happen at this stage.'

Ms Artell said: 'As a parent I absolutely erupted and was like furious. I was like "how dare you take that hope away from me".

'And then as a professional, I'm saying to the matron and to herself that it was competely inappropriate. You can't speak to people like that.'

The next day she returned to her room after going to grab a coffee and was told that her three-day old baby had a huge spike in his insulin levels and was receiving urgent treatment.

She was told that, as an insulin diabetic herself, that could be the reason behind her child's sudden collapse.

also this bit
'She said that she thought the killer nurse seemed 'odd' and a 'bit of a loner' and refused to Letby take care of her child after the incident.'

would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall during this conversation.
A nurse who's a mum & obviously professional, the matron ( EP again?) and LL

i wonder if the refusal ( as well as the complaint to matron) was ever recorded? We heard a lot of testimony re LL being a fantastic nurse but ......

(I'd never seen that whole Sky clip before. Mum was a CoC nurse on a different ward and also heard about the rumours about LL. Inquiry needs to delve into all of that)

I'm wondering if anyone really liked her. I know she did a lot of socialising, but maybe that was really because she was a member of the nurses' group. I must say that the more I read about her, the more I dislike her.
also interesting that the nurse had picked-up that LL was a 'odd & bit of a loner' ( wish the reporter had asked her to elaborate on that. how she'd heard that from other CoC staff)

She might!
On her deathbed!

It might be the day or night she could brag at last how she managed to pull the wool over so many naive eyes.
And confess to deeds nobody knew about.

It would be a good idea for prison staff to check the notes she is addicted to write.

Give her paper she loves collecting.
And pencils - rubber ones.

Love it

I have signed it Mary … just another 75000 to go before the next stage !
Right - what’s the thoughts on Mondays hearing …. Are we thinking a retrial or not ?
Personally I can’t decide but if I had to say I think they will go again. I hope they do for the families involved as they must feel broken up and they have listed it as a hearing which again is very unusual in itself but hey - it’s her.

PK, not sure if you'll know this, but regarding a retrial decision would the jury's balance of guilty/innocent be known, and if so is it taken into consideration? So for example if they voted 9:2 guilty (or innocent) as opposed to 5:4?

Also, in the video of her arrest - where the officer says she'll move the front seat forward to give LL more room in the back of the car - LL comments that she's "just had knee surgery"
I know on it's own it doesn't sound important but a narcissistic I unfortunately know very well uses health issues as deflection/for attention all the time

I imagine her parents could have been as surprised to hear about her knee surgery as they were to hear about her difficult birth!

No, it wouldn't be known. They would only say they couldn't reach a verdict.

I wonder if knee surgery was the reason her dad drove her home the night before. She did have a crutch in her bedroom, although clearly she didn't need it to walk by that stage, but she might have been advised not to drive.

I'm not sure what to think about the retrial . . I think they may go for the babies that hadn't already had a verdict on a separate charge ..(am I right in remembering some of the hung verdicts involved babies with separate other verdicts ) plus the ones where medical evidence stronger

Or not. Seeing as LL and her parents had been holidaying together, it would make sense to go in the one car.

It would, but it wouldn't really make sense for her father to drive 100 miles north from Hereford to Chester to pick her up, and again to return her after the holiday, when they were holidaying in Devon, which is 150 miles south of Hereford. It makes more sense for LL to drive to Hereford and leave her car at her parents' home, and then go in their car to Devon.

Will Lucy be in court on Monday ?
I would be surprised. Not only because she didn't show her face for verdicts and sentencing but because I think I read she will be in the mental health wing of the prison for the first six months, under almost constant monitoring. I'm not sure they would have that kind of monitoring at the court or with prison transport services. I'm wondering if she has even been able to meet with her legal team yet, I don't know.
