What a beautiful send off for such a lovely girl. Her family has carried themselves with such grace and dignity. RIP Becky.

My oldest daughter is a month older than Becky. I can't imagine losing her. Rest in peace Becky x

I feel very sorry for her mum today. Seems she is only attending the private funeral and although I appreciate this may be her choice, she does not seem to have been very involved in her only daughter's funeral.

She doesn't seem to have been very involved with her life.

But I do feel for her, and anyone connected with the family, with the obvious exceptions.

From the DM article above it looks like she didn't attend...

Sorry my mistake. I read about how Becky tried to make both sides of her family friends and I think it was wishful thinking that her parents might have released the dove together.

A "detailed analysis" of the authorities' contact with teenager Becky Watts prior to her death is to be launched.
The 16-year-old's body parts were found about two weeks after she went missing from her home in Bristol in February.
The city's Safeguarding Children Board (BSCB) has confirmed a serious case review will take place.
Chair Sally Lewis said it would analyse "what happened and how agencies worked together".
She said: "Whilst it is understood we can never eliminate risk completely, we will be thorough in establishing what can be learnt from this very sad event to identify if there is anything that services can do differently to prevent a future tragedy."
Becky Watts' stepbrother Nathan Matthews, 28, from Warmley, has been charged with her murder.
He has yet to enter a plea and a provisional trial date has been set for October.
His girlfriend, Shauna Hoare, 21, is charged with perverting the course of justice.
Four other defendants, Jaydene Parsons, 23; James Ireland, 23; and Karl and Donovan Demetrius, both 29, were charged with assisting an offender.

It sounds as though they're assuming Becky's death was the culmination of an ongoing situation. I'm surprised they're starting the review before the trial, though.

Well, the allegation is that the perpetrator was within the family (albeit he hasn't been convicted). It's also the case that she would have had contact with statutory services, at least because of her mental health and eating disorder. I don't know/can't recall whether their had been any custody issues that may have involved social services but IIRC she had little contact with her mother. All of this brings it into the ambit of where a review might be indicated over and above the case where a perfectly unremarkable child was murdered by a stranger/minor acquaintance. They're unlikely to report for some time, so they may as well get the ball rolling now.

A serious case review is completely separate from any criminal proceedings. I have seen a number of SCRs started prior to criminal proceedings being concluded. There's normally a halt in SCR proceedings whilst the trial is in motion, with mention of the trial outcome in the final report. Sometimes an interim report can be issued.
Normally the final report isn't published until after any criminal proceedings have ceased.
I'm guessing that a SCR has been called because, as other people have mentioned there would have been contact with health professionals, education professionals etc prior to her death. What's interesting is that normally a SCR is called when there is "lessons to be learnt". I'm wondering whether there had been some issues in the past between Becky and the step brother or whether NM was known to authorities for "unsavoury behaviour" and this is where the SCR has stemmed from

SH has now been charged with murder, in addition to joining NM in false imprisonment, perverting the course of justice and unlawful burial charges plus four counts of making indecent images of children. NM has additionally been charged with sexual assault and voyeurism charges unrelated to becky's case. There was also a charge for possession of a weapon. Sounds like some new evidence came to light or somebody cracked given how long it's taken to charge SH for murder...(taken from Sky news)

How very sad for Becky.

I wonder what those other, unrelated, charges against NM stem from? Nasty people.

I thought there would be more to this than meets the eye.

These charges further cement my belief that the other lot charged with helping dispose of Becky had something to lose or were involved in something and that's why they helped.

There was a little more detail on the BBC report:

"Police said specialist forensic tests had helped to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death."

Good grief, when you thought it was bad enough.... Sexual assault and indecent images of children, unrelated to Beckys case. What a guy. SMDH
