Never having followed a trial in such detail before because of time commitments (always relying on msm reportings), I didn't think I would feel so
involved and become almost obsessed at keeping up. Also how draining it is. The UK & Eire Database links are so good, and all of you here too. Just wanted to say this during a quiet time.

My heart goes out to Becky's family, and I sincerely wish them continued strength now and in the future.
It does drag you in. I actually had a really awful nightmare last night about this case.

I know Jessie, once you start you kind of become hooked. I tend to stick to UK cases only but it was actually an American one which first got me to register on here.

I normally dip in and out, only spending a large amount of time posting when it's a big case or one which strikes out to me for one reason or another...must admit I've spent a ridiculous amount of time on here the past week. Luckily my job allows me that level of flexibility but I will have to do some work at some point!!

The daily mail is reporting that both masks had make up on!

Yes, both. Also, not full face Halloween type mask:

In addition, the rucksack contained bloodstained safety goggles and two DIY masks, which had makeup stains on the inside, the court was told.

This was interesting (BBM) from The Guardian link above:

Expert evidence was heard about two stun guns found in Hoare’s and Matthews’ home during police searches. Katherine Scott, a firearms specialist, said both devices were also torches and one had an output of more than 8,000 volts. She said that in her opinion a stun gun could be used without leaving any marks on a target’s body.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Well, not a nightmare because I didn't get much sleep, but I couldn't stop thinking about the case last night. Was up til about 4am, actually getting pretty freaked out. I just kept thinking of how unbelievably terrified Becky must have been in those last minutes. I had images going through my mind at 100 mph. You do think you become a little desensitised over time here on WS. I think I handle cases overseas better, when it's In the UK, everything feels more of a reality, it really hits you harder.

I've taken a step back today because I really did scare myself silly last night. To the point I was putting myself in Beckys shoes and what would I have done/felt. Then doing so I think about her family and loved ones, there is no escape for them. Then I hate the world. Gah!

Skibs we've been on a few cases together now and like I've said before I'm a self confessed hard nosed c ow yet every now and again I have to take a step back because I realise that I just can't take any more of a particular case..I've not reached that point yet here even though I've felt sick to my stomach so yeah, I do wonder if you become desensitised over time

If they were both using face masks, on more than one occasion, I can see how both masks would have make-up on.
More incriminating evidence of SH's active participation in the crime! Good!

Yeah, I literally couldn't get her face out of my head last night. It was heavy on the evidence yesterday though so was a lot to digest. God knows what her family must be going through.

Daily mail like inaccuracies...

However. .. they are reporting SP, JPs sisters testimony..she says that she watched crime watch with JP which included bit about Becky...JP seemed quiet and worried...she mentioned about JD,KD and NM storing something in shed. .SP offered to go and look what was in the shed...SP found out JP had been arrested the day after

Technically couldn't SP be charged with something having been told about the shed et.c..

I dont follow too many cases as I would have nothing but nightmares, but this case, I followed from the very beginning and so I feel I have to follow the trial, despite the horrors, as the not knowing would be worse.
I am generally ok during the day, I find I can be very detached when reading the info from the various websites, but at night, everything becomes more personal and emotional. Thoughts of Becky and the fear she must have felt during her final minutes, the sheer cruelty of these two scum bags, and thoughts of why, just why did they do this and why - after all that they have done - asre they now putting Becky's family and friends through the distress of a trial.
I really hope NM gets a whole of life sentence. I would hope the same for SH but am realistic enough to know it probably wont happen. But , whatever the outcome, I hope they are haunted every day of their miserable little lives.

I hope they both get whole life tarriffs but not sure if they will. It would be poetic justice if SH actually got more time than NM, in my opinion.

Is it likely that DNA evidence is still to come? So far we've only heard about the fingerprint over Becky's blood on the bedroom door. Will there be dna on the masks, maybe on the stun gun (Becky's if it was used) ?

Someone mentioned upthread that the suffocation marks might be discerned as belonging to one person?

I'm only wondering if there is more evidence of SH's part in this.

Good heavens, I hope not! How can being told about something be a crime? I suppose you mean because she didn't report it immediately. But that's hardly a criminal offence. It's not as though she knew for sure that there was a body in the shed.

Makeup found on Both DIY masks, but SH's DNA has been found on only one of them (as far as I have read). :

DNA belonging to Shauna Hoare found on safety mask

The court hears DNA belonging to defendant Shauna Hoare was found on one of the safety masks found at the property.

The prosecution say the chances it wasn’t her DNA are around 390,000 to one.

But I'm unsure whether or not expert has testified about finding SH's DNA on the mask yet

I think it may be because this is the trial. The only other trial I followed closely was Jodi Arias. I made my first posts on here during it. It was like nothing I have seen before, so far removed from anything here in the UK, it was like watching a movie!

I'm a big softie but nothing much fazes me usually. I wanted to be a paramedic when I was younger, as a teen I spent many a day sat outside A & E. Yes, I am weird lol A friend dared me to watch the pain olympics once, I did so whilst eating a cheese toastie.

This though, is something else. I find it hard to put into words. Evil, shameless, sick and twisted. And family. The world can be a scary place for a grown up, never mind a young girl. You are supposed to feel safe in your home, and you're supposed to feel safe with family. It's terrifying how many family members hurt and harm their own. I know NM and Becky are not blood, but she had known him most of her life, they were still family. And the gall of the pair of them, NM and SH. It's infuriating.

Bit more from BBC about the stun guns which I hadn't heard; http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-bristol-34540154

PC Jeremy Gale told the court a stun gun, which is a prohibited weapon, was found at Ms Hoare's house in Cotton Mill lane.
The court heard if it had been used for a split second it would have had a disorientating effect, and if used for longer the victim would have lost control of their muscles.

I don't know - I studied criminal law for 2 semesters when studying law - but technically given the circumstances. People have been saying that JP, the D brothers and JI are guilty because they should have known what was in the shed etc well it's very similar to SP isn't is...she was told there was suspicious packages in shed, JP was worried and given everything that was going on at the time surely she should have reported it. Idk? Is it an offence?
