OMG the footage in this video is unbelivable! Not for the faint of heart.

What a Bin Laden was!

I will never forget. God Bless the victims, families, and the soldiers that died in the name of Freedom. May we enjoy freedom and never have it compromised again.

And we can't forget the USS Cole. Seventeen Navy sailors lost their lives and nearly 40 hurt. She was bombed while she had her pants down - so to speak - refueling and unready. The same kind of scum that runs that game is the same scum that kills women & children as well. History tells us so.
It is a joyous day with bright sunshine! We are on the way to recovery!
I'm just sorry they junked-up the ocean with his wretched, souless body! I do see why it was necessary though.
I am the wife of a Navy Veteran and the daughter of many, many veterans.
And I am going to sing & shout it all day long!
And that, my friends, is not near as cruel as what THAT DEAD MONSTER did to US-A!

DNA matching is under way on samples from the body of the slain terrorist leader, the official said. There are photographs of the body with a gunshot wound to the side of the head that shows an individual who is not unrecognizable as bin Laden, the official said.

No decision has yet been made on whether to release the photographs and if so, when and how.

I've got what's supposed to be one of the pictures referenced. If it's fake or not, I don't know for sure but it's real enough for me.

It had to be a kill mission. He was a marked man and had been for many years.

They could not risk bringing him back to the US alive and having him here where more of his terrorist followers would hit us again.

His body lies beneath the sea. No country would want to risk even having his body buried in their country.

IMO

Yep, I agree with everything you have posted! It is a shame that our oceans had to be contaminated this way, though, LOL!

Dna match has been confirmed. Osama is dead. This just on CNN

The stunning news that Osama bin Laden has been killed by American Navy Seals in a daring attack in Pakistan yesterday is a tremendous blow to al Qaeda. The radical movement he created, however, even in a debilitated form, remains a serious threat to Westerners around the world, and to America in particular. The original branch of al Qaeda will now most likely be led by 59-year-old Egyptian pediatrician Ayman al Zawahiri, who combined his own organization, Egyptian Islamic Jihad, with bin Laden's in 1998. In recent years Zawahiri was much more prolific in released statements, particularly videos, than was bin Laden, who often was relegated to taped voice messages.

Secret prisons - maybe Gitmo, too - gave intelligence that started this ball rolling. It is often said that intel is the primary defense/prevention we have, and boy, did it pay off big time.

Now, let's get Al Zaraheri.

I also expect some larger scale attack, just to prove that AQ can function w/o OBL.

And I am so proud of all those who've worked, given everything, to find this evil, evil man, and risked everything (and gave everything, in a lot of cases) to bring him down. Your sacrifices are not forgotten; your lives were not given in vain; and you, unsung though you may be, are my heros.

Thank you, thank you, thank you; not just to the military men and women, but to their families - parents, spouses, children - for your gift to the US. Your sacrifices are not unnoticed. Your grief is shared. I am proud of you for giving us your family member, so that we can be protected against the evil that walks this world.

And to the victims of 9/11, you were the original sacrifices. You have been avenged. Rest easy, rest peacefully, rest eternally in God's Arms, knowing that those of us left behind have taken your cause to the end.

We got the SOB.

Virginia Beach-based SEALS were tasked to kill bin Laden

The helicopter carrying Navy SEALs malfunctioned as it approached Osama bin Laden's compound at about 3:30 p.m. ET Sunday, stalling as it hovered. The pilot set it down gently inside the walls, then couldn't get it going again.
It was a heart-stopping moment for President Barack Obama, who had been monitoring the raid in the White House Situation Room since 1 p.m., surrounded by members of his war cabinet.
"Obviously, everyone was thinking about Black Hawk Down and Desert One," a senior administration official recalled.
The SEALs disembarked.
"The assault team went ahead and raided the compound, even though they didn't know if they would have a ride home," an official said.

He was buried at sea less than 12 hours later. He was 54.

From same link above

In the biggest break in a global pursuit of bin Laden that stretched back to the Clinton administration, the U.S. discovered the compound by following one of the terrorist's personal couriers, identified by terrorist detainees as one of the few al Qaeda couriers who bin Laden trusted.
"They indicated he might be living with and protecting bin Laden," a senior administration official told reporters on a midnight conference call. "Detainees gave us his nom de guerre, or his nickname, and identified him as both a protégé of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of September 11th, and a trusted assistant of Abu Faraj al-Libbi, the former number three of al Qaeda who was captured in 2005."
Officials didn't learn the courier's name until 2007. Then it took two years to find him and track him back to this compound, which was discovered in August 2010.
"It was a "Holy cow!" moment," an official said.

The SEALs held rehearsals of the raid on April 7 and April 13, with officials monitoring the action from Washington.
As the real thing approached, daily meetings were held of the national security principals, chaired by National Security Adviser Tom Donilon, and their deputies, chaired by John Brennan, the president's counterterrorism adviser.
Over the past seven weeks, Obama had chaired numerous National Security Council meetings on the topic, including ones on March 14, March 29, April 12, April 19 and April 28.
"In the lead up to this operation, the President convened at least 9 meetings with his national security Principals," a senior administration official e-mailed reporters. "Principals met formally an additional five times themselves; and their Deputies met 7 times. This was in addition to countless briefings on the subject during the President's intelligence briefings; and frequent consultations between the [White House National Security Council], CIA, [Defense Department] and Joint Staff. The President was actively involved in reviewing all facets of the operation."

I know that there are many that will not share the view, but I do commend our military for being the "bigger man", and sticking with traditions of burial for Osama's body. It was undoubtedly a kindness that he didn't deserve, but commendable none the less.

Osama's death confirmation comes on the anniversary of President Bush's "Mission Accomplished" stunt.

Mission Accomplished
" refers to a banner titled "Mission Accomplished" that was displayed on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln during a televised address by United States President George W. Bush on May 1, 2003 and the controversy that followed. The speech was not actually titled "Mission Accomplished". Bush stated at the time that this was the end to major combat operations in Iraq. While this statement did coincide with an end to the conventional phase of the war, Bush's assertion—and the sign itself—became controversial after guerrilla warfare in Iraq increased during the Iraqi insurgency. The vast majority of casualties, both military and civilian, have occurred since the speech

I am struggling with this. I appreciate everyone's position here, but I am not elated or rejoicing. We were appalled at images of people celebrating 9/11 in the Middle East, and yet we are doing the same. It makes me sad.

So will the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq come to a close then?

Not certain it was kindness. Rather it may have been the US didn't want a funeral riot or a memorial.

Just short of the first year anniversary of 9/11 we moved our son into his college dorm. His roommate had already hung a flag on the wall. It was explained to us that it was his uncles coffin flag. He and his uncle were very close. His uncle was a firefighter who died just trying to do his job and save people at the World Trade Center.

I would have preferred that they brought him back alive to face these families. Their deaths were not as easy and quick as his was. They suffered a much slower and much more frightening death. IMO, a public stoning would have been much more appropriate for this monster!
