New to this case here...what on earth happened here and why?! Going back to catch up.

I can't see any reason for the letters to have been a "signal" the problem had been handled.
The boyfriend lived with the biological mother. No need to send letter. He could just give her 2 thumbs up or tell her in a whisper.

My hunch is the person or persons behind this are not very smart about covering their tracks. Just assuming this based on the Jeep and how it was recovered with obvious stab marks on the flat tires. The person or persons also wrote a sorry arce note in the sand that quickly was determined to be a fake. It looks like very inexperienced criminals or very stupid ones are behind this.

Volunteers organized a search today with a radius of about 15 miles around Eureka. Ongoing at this time.

Amanda, Breezy's aunt and the administrator of the FB page, posted this clarification on the FB page from Bill (William) Powell:

Amanda: Bill has asked me to clarify this, Bill is Riley’s dad. He’s never been his grandpa. He adopted the kids and has been Riley’s dad since before he was one year old.

So there was this reporter who had traveled to SLC to be interviewed by CNN for something totally unrelated when he came across Mistie Carlson. This is what he wrote...

Mistie and Lee both have convictions for lying to the police in the past. Lee has criminal records in Iowa, Florida and Utah.

Misties boyfriend Lee goes by Brother Lee Shepherd in Iowa. I'd say he's extremely dangerous.

Nice. I had heard that Brother Lee / Robert Lee returned to Utah not long before Dec. 30. He may have returned home after serving his time in Iowa.

It is a shame that they didn't search last week when it was so warm. However, it'll be warm again by next weekend. This would have been an unpleasant search but future ones shouldn't be too cold. Unless winter actually decides to hit, which could certainly happen.
