Maybe I'm naive. Whenever I've left a vehicle key for someone, I put it in the ash tray, under the floor mat, in the sun visor, or handed it to the person. Don't think I've ever left one in the mailbox. Maybe the truck is kept locked so leaving it in the truck wouldn't work? But if someone was expecting the key, I don't see why you wouldn't knock on the door and hand them the key, or call and have them come outside to get it from you.

Isn't putting anything in the mailbox besides mail considered illegal? I know I couldn't put my missing dog flyers in them. Maybe it's different if it's your own mail box? Still seems a simple test message or call to AJ would have worked.

Question, does anyone remember if bloodhounds were brought in to pick up a scent at the home? With the truck being there, either she walked away and no one saw her, or someone picked her up.

This case just rattles my nerves something terrible.
I am a retired Postmaster. Even though you buy the mailbox for your mail, it is considered for postal use only. Yes, people leave all sorts if things in them, either because they don't know or think it really doesn't matter. If you put items such as flyers in every box on a street, the carrier can and probably will pull them and they would be returned to you postage due, as only items with paid postage should be left in a box. Usually other items like keys, sunglasses, etc are not bothered. Except for the time my future husband left an Arby's sandwich in the mailbox for me and I forgot to get it. We got a note the next day from mailman thanking me for the sandwich. [emoji1]

AJ played softball and according to her twitter also worked out. However, a poster in one of the earlier threads who participated in a search was told what to look for. I can't find that post but to the best of my recollection it was a jacket? pink shirt, black pants and UGGS.

I guess my point was that the found items weren't what I'd expect a young woman to pack into a small backpack or duffle bag as spare clothing to take with her. So what were these particular items doing on the side of the road?

That's what I have a problem with, too. And even though it was like pulling teeth to find out what AJ was wearing, it did finally come out that it was clothing that bore no resemblance to what was found. I've been on about 5 searches in the past year for a missing girl, and we find all kinds of clothes. So many that you wonder how everyone isn't running around half naked. lol But if we find Nikes, we don't call the family over because we know our girl had Ugg boots. The high that day was only 42, so I don't think she would have been wearing shorts. She complained about the cold a lot on twitter. I really think that evidence was planted to throw everyone off.

The items that were found, an odd assortment, it seemed to me. It leans my thought further to the idea the they may have been planted or placed. It seems like the kind of items AJ may have left in a car, after a game or a practice. Changing out sweaty clothes and pads, sometimes athletes will stuff such items separately in a plastic bag, the kind the gets kicked under the seats and stink up the car, sound familiar to others? I have yet to catch up, so sorry if this has been mentioned. Maybe the person who planted these items may have not have had access to more of AJ's things, at the time of they needed to place items?

Yes, the goal is to find AJ. Tell me one concrete known thing WH & minions have done to facilitate that besides print and put up posters?

Actually, they get points taken away from that as well for tearing down posters. You know, the ones that had a better reward and the number to LE instead of personal cell phones.

That photo of the truck, see the bucket in front of it? Was that used to wash the truck?

And it looks like a rag or something laying in the driveway. I had noticed water drops on the pickup in the news video but didn't think much of that as it looked like there was water drops on the camera lens possibly too? But that truck does look really clean. Good eye, 2Hope4!

Well, I have 3 theories.

The first is of course the elephant in the room, and that doesn't look good.

Second, someone wanted revenge or to frame the elephant, and he does make a good target with past and present behavior. Criminals don't typically have the best of characters hanging around. The whole birds of a feather flock together....

Third, AJ decided to leave on her own, and it's possible. It's also possible to voluntarily have a plan to leave, but something happens you weren't prepared for. It's not uncommon for teens to go someone for Spring Break with a group of friends or a special friend, but we've not really seen any evidence that this was to occur and her core group of friends seem to have no idea where she is.

I've noticed most SM of core friends is rather calm to what it was the first few days of her disappearance. Not sure if that is due to the their fear, if LE asked them to tone it or not speak, their using another SM that isn't visible to us, they are all exhausted mentally and physically and don't know what to do, etc. I don't see anything that has thrown up any huge red flags among her friends, so I truly believe they are missing their friend and are scared.

AJ needs a voice and NOW! Either Mom, ZH, aunt, uncle, cousin, someone needs to step up as spokesperson and soon to keep this in the media and publics view. People's attention span is so short that they'll soon be focused on something else or another missing person, and AJ will be lost.

While we've sleuthed thousands of missing person cases, most families have not, and don't have have a clue how to proceed. Most have difficulty just putting one foot in front of the other in such a crisis.

Local media groups are the best bet for getting the correct information out there, and keeping AJ's face and name in the public's mind!! Don't go with just anyone that contacts wanting to do an interview. Some have motives that aren't good. Trust the local media!! If a national media group wants an interview, WONDERFUL!! The broader their media reaches the better!! But any individual without credentials as a true reporter, don't listen to them, don't speak to them!!!

MANY places like Office Max, Office Supply, Staples, and local printing shops will typically print the flyers for free, and some will do banners, magnets for vehicles etc. One great way to get the flyers out there is to head to a parking lot and put them on every vehicle parked there! Many won't see a flyer on a light pole, and many don't pay attention to ones hung in stores. That was shown on an investigative program once. Missing child was playing at the play ground with flyers all around of him missing, and not a single person reported seeing the child playing right there beside the flyers!!! Get those flyers in the people's hands!!! MAKE them see AJ's face!!

Sam's club, Walmart, Food Lion, and local vendors will typically donate food, water, gatorade, etc for searches. Those can be asked for even if the searches are for LE only! If local, call and ask LE what they need for their searchers!

IF LE will accept outside help, get some search and rescue groups in there. LE might not need the help right now if they have enough man power, finances, etc. But can't hurt to ask. Typically that request MUST come from family!! Most groups will NOT come in without LE and Family asking!!! Most search and rescue groups will reach out to the community and ask for volunteers. They'll have each volunteer sign in, show identification, and then are sent out with a trained searcher. They'll give specific instructions on what to do if you think you find something of interest. As in DO NOT TOUCH IT!!! Don't tweet about it, don't instagram it, etc. Notify the trained searcher who will mark it, and call it in.

Prayer vigils, like the softball team did help keep this in the media!! Important that the community not forget!!

And it would be wonderful if LE would give a press update!!! Their word holds much more weight, and let's the public know they are still on the case, and for anyone to report anything they have seen or heard.

My prayers continue for AJ and her loved ones. Wish I was closer to help, but sharing her missing flyer and sleuthing here is all I can do from this distance.

Thanks button was not enough! This is invaluable information. Thank you again.

Still catching up, so posting for later reference.

JH speaks Sunday morning, in a report where she's responding to WH being charged. Quoted as best possible, @ 2:40:01

"I think a lot of parents will go to, you know, many extremes for their kids. Ah, you know, everybody handles a situation differently."

[... father's admitted charges, mom want the focus to stay optimistic]

"All of that stuff, does, right now in my opinion, is irrelevant, until she is found, and, then everything else can get handled."

It does not matter to me right now. It doesn't. I'm not even thinking about that. I'm trying to focus on AJ, and that is my priority number one, and my only priority, right now."

A longer version Marcella Robertson's report from yesterday.
http://www.13newsnow.com/media/cinematic/video/25173071/police-search-for-aj-hadsell-in-chesapeake/

Their investigation throughout the week led them to this area.

'Searched a three mile radius.'

I think it's already been said but - his past aside, he has done and said some really strange things since AJ went missing. To me that is far more telling than anything he's done in his past.

And yes, I know, it's not unheard of for family members of missing people to act strange but this guy is acting strange over and over again, contradicting himself... talking nonsense at times... completely leaving out HUGE pieces of what supposedly happened (like keeping the gas station thing to himself until several days later).

JMO...

Not to mention the dog punching incident....

You know it's entirely possible WH isn't involved I've thought of a lot of other possibilities including maybe a Craigslist meet up maybe to purchase a go pro? The thing is though LE have surely thought of all these too and checked them out using real information from her phone etc. And still as far as we know WH is the only person related to this missing girl in jail.
I've followed many missing persons and often felt bad when the person I'd thought was involved wasn't. In AJs case I won't feel bad if WH isn't involved because his past AND present actions just scream for attention and at the very least he's interfering in an investigation. If anything has happened to AJ and this person he claims did it DID actually do something how can LE use evidence from that house now that WH was in it. Any lawyer worth his salt will claim set up.
He is IMO a very guilty person or a very silly attention seeking person.

IIRC, AJ's step dad is due in court today?

The time that seems critical to me, as to what happened to AJ, are between

1). the time AJ's mom and sisters went to work and school and "what not", 7 am

2). the time of the 'we're not a big talking family' non-chat, staring session, in one of the cars, when he rushed over, putting off work to give AJ $200 for the GoPro, he happened to have overheard she may have wanted for her BF B'day. 12:30+ pm

3). the time he had eyes on accountability at work, and thereafter 1:30 pm

4). the time AJ's sister received the thumbs up emoji 2:30 pm

5). If this was him, then he still had AJ's phone until texts at 5 am

So he may have had that long or more to have taken her somewhere.

Any part of the search generated by his touch is suspect, to me, and it may be wiser to consider it distraction to keep the focus away from other times and places he may have been moving around.

The other thing is, with the number of cars moving around, I don't see how he could have been at this alone. Did he walk away after dropping off the red truck or get ride back to his work truck.

I'm assuming for now, for lack of any better direction the red truck and AJ did not leave the house in a rush, but not in a good state, if extra cleaning to wipe away evidence was evidenced, as ZH's blog indicates as note up thread.

I'd like to think this is all terribly wrong and assumptions based on too little information. I have no right to make such negative assumptions when AJ's mom casts them aside as unhelpful to find her. I hope she knows more to be optimistic about. For AJ's sake and find her, trifling with whatever public is paying attention will not help find her, only good information reaching LE will do that, it seems to me.

The kind of work done by any heating and air company, is almost always done on-site for the employees. Meaning, calls come into the main office from customers (residential or commercial), work orders are done up, and employees are scheduled job-sites. Such as: Bob at 1234 Center Street 8am-12pm Monday, 45678 Main Street 3pm Tuesday-5pm Wednesday... etc. Sometimes they're scheduled out on their own, other times they're scheduled with a crew, depending on the site & service needed.

Depending on what the job is, who the customer is, how many are needed on a job at one time, how many specialists you have in certain fields, etc. Tons of variables but essentially this is the way it works. Eventually the employees do clock back into the main office but their actual work is generally on-site. I only know this because I owned a company just like this for 15 years and was the one in charge of scheduling, every week. It's possible WH's employer does things differently, but in my experience nearly all specialty mech. companies work this way (especially the privately owned - indy operated ones).

Going off your post Ontario Mom, I have been thinking that with heating and air contractors they have a lot of flexibility with their unaccounted for time. We have a lot of traffic here, and one accident can wreck havoc (bad pun) for the entire afternoon commute. Our contractors also bill by the hour, so whether they are here 5 minutes or an hour, we are billed for the service call (first hour). I have rarely had an HVAC person need more than 30 minutes to fix a problem. Furthermore, they NEVER have the arrival/departure time on the work order (I think I am going to start signing these with date and time).

Yup!

If WH isn't involved (beyond that which we know of now) the defense will have a huge opened door because of his actions.

And to the last sentence, I think it could be both - a very guilty attention seeking person.

A man with his record and background will not seek attention.
He is trying very hard to explain his versions of what happened that day without
success. The truth does not change lies do because it didn't happen u have no
recall or memory to fall back on.

So today is WH's court date, yes? Is there also an active search going on today?

The thread has been moving so fast that I haven't had a chance to ask this question, but how on earth can anyone know WH punched the family dog? No one was there, right? He just admits to doing this? Why? Anyone else find this a VERY strange thing to admit to, when no one would have ever known? That's an animal cruelty charge, if LE or the family decide to press charges (which they certainly should, imo). Why would he voluntarily set himself up for more charges? Is it possible there is video tape of his B & E ? This one has me completely baffled.

ETA: By the way, ADT does have video surveillance options. So...maybe? There are homes on Millard St. that are sporting ADT signs.

I have no idea if this has anything to do with it, probably not, but a reformed master burglar once told me that what they feared most entering any house was a loose dog surprising them.

The clothes found this weekend...I remember mention of AJ having an upcoming softball practice. Was that on March 3? LE put out last seen as evening on March 2 to morning of march 3 and that surprised us as we were thinking between 10:30 PM on March 1 (last twitter activity) to sometime on March 2. Maybe it was the morning of March 3 and she was wearing or had, in her possession, her softball gear...or if she left the house on March 2, with intentions of staying that night away, she would have had her softball gear with her. She could have met up with someone before practice and had her gear with her. I am also thinking these items were planted....now does LE need to search the opposite direction of this finding (like items were planted to take eyes away from actual location) or continue to search near this finding (like someone wants her found and is stupid enough to think he wouldn't be suspected)??
