He was camping in a tent on the beach. Someone called it in to police as suspicious. The deputy ran the tags and they came back "hot".

"The Galveston County Sheriff's Office says Matthew was located on the beach in Gilcrest on the Bolivar Peninsula around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Galveston County Judge Mark Henry, deputies received a call about a suspicious person camping in a tent on the beach. A deputy responded and ran the license plate of the suspicious person's vehicle.

The license plate came back as "hot" or wanted, said Henry, who was briefed on the circumstances.

Henry told Local 2 investigative reporter Jace Larson that Matthew did not resist arrest.

Matthew is expected to appear before a judge on Thursday morning."

I know we did not require a passport crossing into Mexico on land from the U.S.

You can also get on a cruise to the Caribbean/Mexico with only a drivers license and birth certificate..

Soooooo, he still had sisters car & has been camping. Interesting!

LE has his DNA. If he was linked to MH, trust me, he would have been charged as soon as they got that DNA back.

Not necessarily... wouldn't they need confirmed DNA directly from him to actually make a charge? DNA from his car/apartment might not be his...

I would think they would need to get his DNA directly from his person before ensuring a legal match with any other DNA in the database. I don't think we know for sure they have a direct DNA sample. He would likely not have consented to giving one when he came to the police station. So unless he had previously given a sample, they would not be able to confirm any DNA they have recovered is his for sure. ,only circumstantial. Any lawyers or law enforcement on the board know if this is the case?

I bet that made his day.. ( the cop)

This has been my theory all along and I think she is still alive and hoping no one is giving her up for dead. Investigators should check every truck stop and backpage and other internet sites for escort services. A lot of these rings are not run by super intelligent organized criminals but street thugs. They may be on drugs or just think they won't get caught. If she is hidden in a hotel room, maybe they aren't smart enough to worry about someone turning them in. It's all a long shot but its happened before.

Evidence for your claims?

Makes sense because even motels these day usually ask for ID's. . . .

Here I am worrying about a stupid dog named popcorn that was allegedly with Jesse.

When I lived in Houston no one I knew considered Galveston an island-- it was just some place nearby that you got in your car and drove to. You don't have to load your car on a ferry or anything.

I lived in Houston all my life and Galveston is definitely considered an island. There is only one way to get to Galveston and that is by a bridge that carries you over water. You don't have to load your car on a ferry for it to be an island, and most people realize this.

Thank you! If it were MY daughter, I could only HOPE to have someone so passionate in charge.

I agree. I know many people have tried to assign some sort of deep calculated tactic and strategic value to his emotional outbursts, but I see him as just a human responding to the reality that someone's daughter is missing and possibly no longer with us.

does anyone else remember the comment "she went to Jamaica with a Rasta man" ? Wasnt he caught right beside Jamaica Beach? and is that area known for gangs and other (not so nice) behavior?

I don't think you do unless Google maps is wrong. You would take a ferry coming from Galveston, but if he came in the back way on the 124 to the 87 he could have driven onto the peninsula. I am guessing he was driving at night and just spending time in less populated areas during the day. Probably thought sitting on a beach was a fairly safe way to lay low.

Yes, maybe a good spot to rinse off too- I doubt he had access to a shower. Also, I bet he didn't use a cell phone so he couldn't be tracked- and he just kept driving south towards Mexico without knowing exactly how to get anywhere without a phone. jmo...
Here's a link to crystal beach with driving directions to Bolivar Pen to avod ferry:
ALTERNATE ROUTE from Houston (to avoid the Ferry). Take I-10 east to Winnie (exit# 828). See below.

FROM BEAUMONT

Take I-10 west to Winnie, then head south on Highway 124 until you come to the beach road, Highway 87. Turn right, go about 17 miles to Crystal Beach. In the community of Gilchrist, you will pass over the bridge at Rollover Fishing Pass.

I have been worried about trafficking ever since we saw in the video that there was another man who started to follow her and then stopped. The white man definitely looked like he started to follow her and then he stopped, at least for the time we see in the video. Then, in the same place, JM shows up across from her, then behind her. Then, we know she was seen soon after with him. It just seems so odd and unlikely that TWO stranger men would be following her at the same time, if they were not working together.... Obviously, my opinion, but strange... possibly, the white man was wanted to try and flirt with her and then changed his mind.

Did anyone notice on JM's facebook page that a "friend" from Texas (can't remember the city) had posted a comment and something like "let me know if there is anything I can do"? I remember seeing it after his pictures had been blackened, maybe 2 days ago. It was one of the few comments made by friends. When the "wanted" poster came out announcing that he had contacts in various states, I thought it was strange at the time that Texas was not listed because of noticing this comment. Is his facebook still accessible or did anyone save it? This could explain why he ended up in Texas!

His facebook page is still up. Any proof of these comments?
