I won't mind if they deadlock because that would mean that some jurors definitely, unwaveringly, felt that she deserves the death penalty. This is the only reason I've been able to tolerate the retrial at all. Those who felt she deserved death were not persuaded.

I'm eager to hear what they have to say afterward. I hope they'll do media interviews after they have a chance to read all about the trial and get a perspective on the DT shenanigans.

You bring up a good point. I have always struggled with how a jury can work on other jurors to get them change their mind. If they can show them something they did not think of, then it is ok. But if a juror still firmly believes one way, then that juror should stick to their guns. I agree with that. So good point that we cant think of it as a failure if they hang. Its part of the system I suppose.

Thank you for helping me realize that.

Nurmi's "key" is residual doubt...that some unsaid thing Travis did caused JA to snap between sex and shower. That's why he lied about Travis inviting JA on June 4. Nurmi wasn't allowed to be any more specific because he's not allowed to argue residual doubt- that the first jury got it wrong, and that she did not premeditate the murder. But mitigator 6 is essentially the snapped, heat of passion lie.

So that's Nurmi's "key."

I don't remember Nurmi describing JA "snapping" or anything else about the murder itself in his opening or closing, but iirc JM played the JA-Flores interviews for the jury in his 4-5 day case recap. The COA ended JA's secret testimony before she'd even described moving to Mesa. So iirc all the jury knows about what happened on June 4 from JA's perspective is what she told Flores about the ninjas, other than JW drawing out first-thing in her secret testimony that she knew at Hoover Dam that she'd done a bad thing, she wasn't clear what, and that she checked TA's voicemails for 16 minute because it took that long to leave one of her own that sounded normal ... which was her first attempt to "cover my tracks" (not).

The thing is that BPD did not make her murder anyone. She happens to have BPD but that is not her problem. Her problem is that she is a sociopath, psychopath. She does not have any emotion for anyone but herself. She cares for no one except for her. She is narcissistic and so if she is not getting the attention she wants she will become abusive and aggressive. We have seen that first hand if someone questions her motives or makes her look bad. She killed Travis in a rampage. She planned it, But she came at him like a banshee, slicing and stabbing, and then finishing him off with the cut to his throat and then shooting him.

So don't worry that people think that people will BPD are all evil or criminals. I know I don't. She happens to have that like she has brown eyes but what made her kill was her desire to always come out on top and get what she wanted at any cost.

I still think she does not have PTSD or BPD, she's not sad....but happy!:

I think she gamed the tests. All of them. Probably with help from ALV and Samuels. The self reporting tests given by Dr G were a simple joke to her.

This women is just not right, understatement of the year. I am really beginning to think she is just plain evil, and that's not a word I use.

Do I remember correctly that several of the jurors from the first trial said they would do interviews once the retrial was done? I'd love to hear from them, too.

Good morning! We got 6 inches of snow last night in central Virginia so my work is closed today. Getting paid to lay around and refresh the computer screen all day. Woot!

I'm thinking we won't have a verdict until next week.

How do I vote in the Life/Death survey from the last thread? TIA

I hope they allow the cameras in the courtroom today.

I'm gonna guess that if they are still deliberating after lunch today that it will be LWOP. :dunno:

So what will Cougarlicious do now for attention? Stripper pole at the old age home?

Yep she played cray just like Eddie Routhe did. The jurors in the ER trial said they knew this right away. She is nothing but a narcissist and she played the game well.

I still think she does not have PTSD or BPD:

Had a free few minutes before the kids came home so I said a little prayer for travis tanisha Steven Hilary and Samantha.

I'm not religious so here's hoping whatever is out there can answer my prayer.

flipping DT team thought they could put so much distance between the actual evidence and their version of events the jury would be hoodwinked. Lets hope they aren't. I've always been anti death penalty but Jodi has pushed me into wanting it. I don't like it but it's true. This victim trashing business is just horrifyingly terrible and I feel so bad for the family of Travis I want what they want to vindicate him. But as long as she's locked up FOREVER I can deal with it.
Positive thoughts to the Alexander family and all Travis family and friends.

JUSTICE FOR TRAVIS!

That's all I want.

During verdict watch for the DP are defendants under suicide watch??

I don't know, but JA did something last time that landed her in a padded cell type situation for several days iirc. Hope she tries that again.

Well, Steely, I do think she will be in need of a new job. I have a feeling she will no longer be a "mitigation specialist", as if she was ever really one to begin with. I would sure like to hear about her performance on cases prior.

Good Morning from Texas... I want her to get the DP for 2 reasons... 1st... she is a cold blooded murder that killed him 3 times over with no remorse whatsoever... 2nd... The DT.. they are the lowest of the low and tried every dirty trick in the book to win while Juan always kept his dignity. I want good to win over evil.

With the defense being trashing the victim and in particular calling him a pedophile, and the closing argument being trash the victim further while including comments about how nice a guy he was and how much he loved JA, I guess the DT is hoping to sway at least one juror this way. By talking out of both sides of his mouth, Nurmi hoped to get to one person and since he was not sure which side that one person might be on, he went for Travis being T-Dogg who used women, a pedophile and an all-around bad Mormon who was a loving, kind individual who would not want his killer sentenced to death.

I can't imagine a single juror not being offended by it.

Even the stealth juror(s) who may vote for Life for reasons of their own will not actually be swayed.

50 Shades of Cray

http://www.examiner.com/article/jod...izes-killer-s-50-shades-of-cray-defense-rests

Which expert made the best case? That will be up to the jury to decide. Does she have PTSD? Does she have Borderline Personality Disorder? Or are those two comorbid illnesses just many of the 50 shades of cray that frame this killer as a danger to society?

It is not being disputed by anyone that this convicted killer has a long list of mental health problems. What is being disputed is what caused those mental health problems. Why is this important?

It’s not whether or not Jodi has mental illness, it is how those mental illnesses are being perceived by the jury. That is the only thing that matters. Did Jodi Arias kill Travis Alexander in an impulsive rage that was a symptom of her borderline personality? Or because she was cowering in his shadow one day in self defense from a trigger of one of his abuse episodes?

TexMex, did you watch the clip I posted above? She actually said she had no reason to be sad. Now that is a true statement from her. There never was any sadness over Travis' death, I think what jury needs to focus on, is that this person is a real danger to society. Her joy is real that she killed Travis.

And it seems she has the ability to organize a following in prison. Doubly dangerous as JA thrives in revenging against anyone that she perceives has hurt her.
