21-28 years for a conviction of first degree murder does not seem remotely possible to me, and I pray to God that it's not. I think I've read somewhere that most people only serve 80% of their sentence before being released on parole. If he were to receive a sentence of 21 years, that would likely mean a release after 16 and he would only be 53 years old. Dear God, that CANNOT be right.

He does have a record including felony theft and aggravated robbery- looks like he has a problem taking what isn't is. Who is to say he didn't steal tickets or sell something he stole for money? Seems like a con man to me.
Or Ingrid perhaps bought them! Could have been her idea of a date night ....
Just speculations

I believe LE found the purchase of the tix on her PC. Yep all he had to do was be there and kill her. My heart breaks for her poor little girls. At least they have their Daddy.

First wanted to say my heart goes out to Ms. Lyne's family.

Someone earlier speculated "mommy issues". I was thinking the same thing. I noticed a comment under his facebook pic with the "glasses" that said "WTH" and his aunt replied and said "maybe something his mom made..." the aunt's comment seemed odd to me. Plus he likes smart moms page. I wouldn't be surprised if he's responsible for Ms. Moyer's death also.

I came here from the Seattle Times site just now to post the exact same thing!

Unbelievable that he could be released so soon.

"If convicted as charged, the defendant could face a sentence range of at least 21 to nearly 28 years in prison, the prosecutor's office said."

That's it, 21-28 years? So he could be out at age 67, if not sooner? Did I read that right?

There are people sitting in jail for sentences longer than that for drug charges. It's ridiculous. I cannot understand. I want them to explain this so badly.

I believe it depends if they have any prior convictions as he does. So he would most likely serve at least 90%. He deserves LWOP or DP. He may be a real smooth talker like Ted Bundy smoozing the female jurors. Maybe DA feels if it is a lower sentence better chance of conviction. But who knows.

I wish I could say why I feel that she may have been trying too hard to date.

Nope, nope nope nope. She wasn't trying to hard to do anything... she's hot 40 year old women. I say do you're thing girl. She made no mistakes, she is the victim of a sick, sick individual.

I wish she had met a nice man at the hospital she worked at to date. She had so much to offer the right person.

I'm 43. Her oldest daughter will still be younger than me in 28 years.

Any person from any avenue could have been just like this man. No person is 100% safe from people like this unless they never walk out their front door.

What's the matter with the state of Washington where a man who kills and dismembers a woman might be out of jail in his early 50's???

What happened to first-degree murder? Do they not have enough evidence? I'm a little behind on all the details.

Found this on Wikipedia:

First Degree Murder: 20–26 years, 8 months. At least 20 years must be served before parole eligibility. Special Circumstances may increase the number of years to an equivalent sentence of life imprisonment.

WA also has a higher charge option of "Aggravated First Degree Murder," which carries a sentence of life without parole.

Maybe she wasn't looking for Mr. Nice. Maybe she was just looking for Mr. Nice With His Shirt Off. She was recently divorced, absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying a boy toy for a flash.
Yep, I just said that. Drops mic. lol lol lol

But usually working in a hospital you hear rumors and people know about each other it's a place for face to face interaction not lying and hiding behind a computer screen. Of course every place to meet is a risk but I think the work place is less of a risk. JMO

Except this boy toy was 3 years her junior.
From what I understand, she had dated him several times before her last date. Goodness gracious, a simple background check would have revealed his past.

And a lot of work places frown on dating in the office. In the end, it doesn't matter. She's dead through no fault of her own
