My apologies- we really don't know. The killer had said she was living with 2 men. I just assumed that would mean in the area. Of course, can't really trust anything he says! Sorry....

I am with you-that is a whole layer of questions for the detectives, lol...is this guy to be believed with whatever he said? On the Maricopa Jane Doe case, the perp stated firmly that she jumped into his car at a liquor store in Phoenix proper, when it turns out he picked her up from her house in a suburb of Phoenix....

I was a stickler for following the listed heights on the missing ( as early as last week) but have decided to use a, + or - scale of 3".
Good luck on your searching!!

Yeah, any female over 5'7 catches my eye too...it's just seems like most victims are shorter than that. Hmmm I wonder if there's something in that...

I got so caught up in the vitals that I missed this. It actually would make a lot of sense because if what the killer says is true and she did live with 2 men, and if she is in the age range of 15 - 19, this could mean she was a run away or someone who had cut ties with her family at a young age. That could be why she is so difficult to match - maybe no one was looking for her?

It would be interesting to know if this case garnered much publicity at the time and if it is possible the '2 men' Jane Doe lived with could have heard about her murder. If not then perhaps they could have thought she ran away again, if that was a pattern for Jane Doe then it would not be unexpected.

I would love to know whether she had a bag with her and about the area she was picked up in. Was it a highway or could she just have been hitching a ride to the shops? This could be a good clue to if she resided in the area or if she was just passing through.

It could be she is one of the unreported missing. The available sites are very limited in # to say the least. It would be nice to have a site set up just for these. I've been searching for missing relatives but it is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Was she in DYS? Was she kidnapped at an early age and not have known? Was she living in the area and if not where is her 'bag'?
What was SJD's physical appearance? Meaning as a far as hygiene, was she well kempt?

I think SJD had good teeth and 2 dental restorations done so someone must have paid for them at some point. You would assume someone whose family had paid for their child to have work done by a dentist would care enough to report them missing if they ran away or went out one day and never came home...but maybe not.

I like Diane Schulte quite a bit!!! Wonder if grey gums would have stood out to the killer, though...I mean that is really different....

I am very new at this but I agree about Diane Schulte...eerily similar looking girls, just the height being off is the only reservation I have.

I just got the list from LE on who has been ruled out

Thanks for that list christine!

Didn't see these on the list. Just some more possibilities. Most are probably longshots, but it can't hurt to look at them, right? I didn't really consider height, because most of them are way too short, but could have grown. I searched NCMEC for missing girls across the country from January 1973 to December 1977.

I didn't see this girl, on the ruled out list, the pic isn't too great but she had been missing for 7 years prior to JD being found, plus Cynthia was already 5'4" at 13 years old!!!..... Just another possibility!

I didn't see Deborah Sue Lowe from the list. Sounds like she could've been a runaway and her age matches up. She would've had to have dental surgery when she ranaway, but looks kind of similar.

In this conversation with detectives from Snohomish County, he talks about SJD having had a childhood accident with chipped front teeth, like Deb. Lowe. Also, at 13 she was already 5'6 which would fit with the tall height of SJD. There was some speculation about the fluoride/east coast which would also fit, and the age range seems right on (interview says no wisdom teeth yet and Deb. would have been 17 in 1977).

Nor can we trust what she might have said. If Roth was making unwanted advances, she might have said she lived with two men to try to scare him off some.

I'm thinking, in line with another poster here, that either she was never reported missing or she is from out of the area. I think out of the area, because I am sure that this case has received wide publicity within the area over the years: when she was found, when they arrested Roth, during Roth's trial, and then the yearly or so updates.

I wonder if there is a way to find out where Roth was during the preceding week to 10 days?

I liked Yvonne Reglar - a lot of distance and quite a tight timeline but it would have made a certain amount of sense - she'd gone (or been taken) west and kept running until the land and her luck ran out. Unfortunately she's been ruled out in the list above.

I saw that Cymro :) I just deleted my post. That will teach me to read the entire thread first :blushing: I really thought she was a good match too, especially if there was a chance that Roth abducted her. Back to that list that hasn't been ruled out yet.......

That is just an update on Jane Doe. I see from this thread that everyone knows her DNA was extracted.

A forensic dentist in 1988 noted that two of the victim's front teeth had extensive dental restoration, the likely result of an accident. A search for matching dental records led nowhere.

Scharf and Heitzman got a court order last spring to unearth the woman's remains. Taylor's examination led her to believe that Jane Doe was between 15 and 21 years old.

," Roth said. "She didn't ask me my name."

He offered detectives these details: She didn't have an accent. She spoke in a monotone. She didn't appear to be educated. He thought she was in her 30s because there were wrinkles around her eyes. He thinks she was right-handed because she held her cigarette in that hand.

I wasn't sure which thread to post this on, there appears to be two threads for this Jane Doe.

Good catches on the teeth but it seems unlikely to me that extensive dental work would be done by a runaway (either Debbie Lowe or Debra Sprickler). I'm not saying that totally rules them out but it's food for thought.

yeah, i thought about that but then i also thought if she was an abductee who suffered from stockholm syndrome or something similar she could've been taken to a dentist. pure wild theory, of course. but i have always been troubled by a). she rejects the advances even under the influence b). no one locally reported her missing. while the two points aren't necessarily mutually inclusive, they don't feel quite exclusive either.

from research i have read on teenage runaways, many are victims of sexual abuse and a percentage turn to prostitution to survive or at a minimum are subjected to consistent unwanted advances/assaults.

the way the assailant describes her reaction doesn't seem to jive with the profile of a runaway.

i could be totally off base...
