I think we are often to quick to assume that these young women would never go off with a stranger. I know now how dangerous it is but when I was out at bars in college, I and most of my friends did it all the time.

It is a very real possibility. Family would have probably said the same thing about me, that i would never do that, but I did, often.
Your correct & it is a real possibility.

Let me just say its nice to see other idea's. The close friends Heather and Sam are my daughters. Deidre lived with one or both of them nearly three years. There are things kids don't tell their parents and for this I am thankful. But these three were close they shared everything and a married man would not have been a secret.

The two bars were not both strip clubs. The finish line is just a loud popular bar. The body shop where Deidre is reported to have gone is a strip club. It is also a small strip club the way I understand it one dancer at a time. (I may be wrong about this it is not first hand knowledge) Deidre's landlord was a woman and Deidre was one of the first to rent under the new management the few apts it held were not all occupied. The finish line is where Deidre split from Gabe there is no report anywhere that he lied when he said he did not go there. He did not know that is where she was going. There are several bars on that block. The police don't seem to be discussing an underage person as a suspect they are trying to get information and believe an underage person would be afraid to say they were there so may not feel free to give information. It is my understanding that the police have cleared Ross. Dont know how and may never know but feel the information is reliable. The reason Deidre asked her Dad for help is because she nor my girls had a truck or access to one. Deidre was a person who was just excited to have her own place that is why she wanted to move that day. Her impatience with her father was not unusual or suspicious.

Hi TheresaO & Welcome to Websleuth's!

My deepest sympathy goes out to Deidre's family, & friends. Your daughters must be totally devastated, they were wonderful friends to her.

We can toss the married man theory. Did she have any old boyfriends who were jealous? Or someone who spooked her that went into Hardees, that may of became infatuated with her?

Maybe your daughters can come up with a few things. I'm sure they've racked there brains everyday.

We are devastated. It seems you already know..... My girls and have done everything possible to find a missing person. We truly believed she was coming home. We knew she did not leave on her own and expected her to need extensive recovery from emotional and probable physical trauma. We did not expect this. It had crossed our minds but we never let it stay there. There is no reason to believe it was Ross or Gabe. Gabe was not a boyfriend this was a group of six very close friends. Gabe dated one of the girls from the group but Not Deidre Heather or Samantha. If it was someone she knew it was not someone she was close to. The article by both Crime Library writers had minor mistakes that were unimportant in finding a living and well Deidre so we let them go. Also the implication that Deidre was dependant on her father and her mother was uninvolved in her life is not quite the way it seems. Understand that I in no way believe either are involved. Her Dad just felt a need to paint a slightly more devoted picture then actually was. The ride home on its own seems unlikely. Deidre had no problem walking much further then that six blocks when she lived further from the bar. My girls and Deidre walked from the west side of town to the bars more times then this mom likes to know. My oldest daughter had become active in her church and had quit going out just two weeks prior to this mess. My youngest had a one year old at home and although she would still go out occasionally she had stopped going on a regular basis. The other two girls from the group were working late that night which is why this normally much larger group was so small. If I remember correctly Gabe did not know she was leaving the bar just going off to talk to someone. But until June 10th of this year no one would have thought twice if she was going to another bar. I think it is a local. Mostly because of where she was found. And I don't think it was someone she knew well if at all. By local I mean this person could be from Port Edwards or Nekoosa. This is a pretty close group of communities. Most people from either of those two town go out in Wisc Rapids. I hope I addressed what I can of your questions. I really am hoping there is a unique idea out here on the web that could bring this some closure for BOTH of her parents as well has family and friends. For those of you who pray, please pray for that. There is a beautiful little girl in the middle of all this who one day should have those answers.

I was very impressed by everything I read that your girls had done. That is amazing for girls so young. They should really be commended for it.

Was there any chance that she may of went to a party after the bars closed? Might of got into a car with someone she never knew well?

I agree it was someone local. I'd imagine if she was going to leave the bar she'd of told Gabe, I'm leaving are you coming with???? Since she never could somone of slipped something into her drink?

I just can't phantom someone never seen something.......I just don't buy it! Someone knows something!!!

I agree completely that someone saw something I hope now they will come forward. I can't say that Deidre never would have gone to an after bar party. I can say it was unlikely on this night. She knew she needed her job and she had to work early I believe before 7 a.m. It was the fact that she had not shown up to work that convinced us that something was horribly wrong. She could have met some creeps at Hardee's but I hadn't heard about it. My daughters are following this thread I hope they chime in or let me know how to answer that. Thank you so much for the compliments to my girls. It has been very hard on them but they have made me very proud. There is nothing they would not do for their friends. I hope we never find out if they would do the same. I know Deidre would have. Well I have given you about all I have that would help with what you all have been thinking so far. I look forward to seeing what you all can come up with.

Creeps from Hardees might be a big avenue to look at. Does Hardees have cameras? They should probably be reviewed, to see who keeps coming in when she is working. Sex offenders in the area? Rapists. Has anyone checked the Wi sex offender site for sex offenders in your area? Anyone who may fit the mo.

Deidre would have to be friendly to customers & she may of ran into a very sick person. Who might of been listening to her plans that night. Probably a regular customer who came in for coffee at closing time. Probably someone nobody would ever dream could / would harm her but did.

The WI sex offender registry for WI Rapids (2 zips) has about 90 people, 2 in Port Edwards and 22 in Nekoosa. This is by zip, so it would exclude someone near the area, not in that zip. Theresa - your girls might consider flipping through to see if anyone stands out... sometimes there are people on there that you never knew (my exboyfriend and another guy I was in junior high band with are both there) I'd particularly look at "younger" guys - 40 and younger. They tend to commit more crimes, and more likely to not creep Deidre out to where she might have left with them.

Here's the link - http://offender.doc.state.wi.us/public/search/sor

The zips to put in are: 54469 54457 54494 54495

Their conviction isn't too impt - but might be helpful. If you need assistance interpreting any of the convictions, I can help. (ex. 1st degree sex assault of child - means ANY touching/penetration/anything of a child under 12... Second degree is same except child between 12-16.) Also - you can then take their name and CCAP it to look for other felonies or violent offenses. Additionally, the address is listed, so your girls might see someone who lives near Diedre. (Small towns, but still - might be a clue...)

Thank you for the time and for so much information. We will do our best to help.

If a ride home wasn't a big deal, how about someone who would have offered to move her that night?

Walking home alone should be a possibility now. And in that - she could have just been grabbed off the street. Again a local, but no one she knew or even no one she may have talked with that night.

I also agree with cheko that Hardee's is a possibility, but where to start with that? How long had she been at that job? Any other "public" jobs before?

Is there anything more about the area she was found? You've said you'd have to be a local to know it - so it's off the beaten path. Is it remote? i.e. no houses near? One road in and out?

My guess would be that she was taken and killed the same night. So how likely is it that someone could have seen a car on that road that night? Would it be memorable if they did see a car there really late at night?

Theresa - not to harp on Ross, but the reason I asked if he was cleared before or after Deidre's disappearance is because police may not have cleared him if they knew they were looking at homicide vs. missing person. The stakes are higher now. But I won't continue down this road - we'll look for new ideas.

This makes me think that she did not go willingly. She and Gabe didn't get to Finish Line until 11pm (acc'ing to CrimeLibrary) and she would only have until bar time. (although I think strip clubs stay open later? Will have to ask...) Even if she was happy-drunk at 2am, and she's young :), it's hard to get up with no sleep. More importantly, she would have been out, then to work w/o seeing her child. Unlikely. Maybe GHB in a drink is a possibility... she'd be less likely to fight an attacker...

One more thing - Theresa - here is a link to open warrants in Wood County. Maybe another quick glance at the names and DOB's from your girls would jog something. http://www.tznet.com/~wcsd/warrant.htm

Ang,

I also thought GHB was a definate possibility. Then she'd of not put up much of a fight. Couldn't think what the drug was called for nothing!!! Had she been given something she'd of probably had her guard down & easy prey to whoever it was.

I wonder about the bartender if it was the same one as usual or a newbie at the strip bar??? Is there any proof she was in the strip club at all? Bouncers remember her? Bartender? Alot of unanswered questions not meaning to put you on the spot Theresa, trying to eliminate things..........

Deidre had worked at hardee's at least several months. I dont believe any other public jobs accept for a few weeks at BK in Marshfield. She was found in a very secluded area. No houses in site. The location was within a mile or two of a rifle range. No one would have seen a car out there. The area was dirt road and fire lanes. I have no idea about the bartender but all including the bouncer remembered seeing Deidre in the body shop several talked to her. Nobody, and this is what I think is odd, nobody seen her leave. Bar time is 2 am for both bars. I don't know about the Drug. This is what I am thinking happened. Deidre was no wall flower she would have fought if she believed she was in danger. I am hoping they have hair for the autopsy and that they will be able to tell what if any drugs were in her system. If it is the date rape drug you would have to believe she recieved it in the bar and this is why no scene when leaving. I don't know I am not good at all this. Too Close to my heart to think of all the horrible things it could be.
Theresa

That is whats so odd someone had to see her leave! Someone knows who she left with & keeping quiet.Since she was found in such a remote area, it could be someone from the shooting range. I think it was someone she trusted & knew.LE may know more then what they're saying. Forensics will tell its own story.

My grand daughter got into a car with friends in Jan.she never knew the driver very well, he was speeding, the girls wanted out, he refused, he lost control of car, had a head on accident, drove off with all 3 of his passengers unconcious, hit 2 more parked cars. Went to a deserted parking lot tossed all 3 unconcious out, left them to freeze to death, he took off for home. 1 was able to go for help, or they all would of died from exposure. Later 1 died from his injuries. So horrible things can & do happen!

Given your description, Theresa, I definitely agree with you it's a local. If someone didn't know the area and was driving around looking to leave Diedre, they couldn't know if a dirt road had a house at the end of it or not. A local would know that this was a little used road with no houses, etc. Also - someone that did not want or plan for her to be found ever.

GHB is also a good possibility based on your description of Diedre. It can be slipped into a drink, and is not very detectable. Especially in Rapids, and around friends in a familiar bar, you wouldn't be inclined to watch your drink. A local she didn't know well could have seen she was separate from Gabe and other friends, slipped the GHB, and then taken her out under some "you look like you might be sick" pretense.

I don't know if she'd been out much since having the baby, but 9 months w/ no alcohol made my tolerance super low, so I'm guessing same for her. She might have let someone escort her to the back, or the bathroom because she thought she was drunk when it was really just GHB. (Or the other way - she might have overestimated her tolerance and been tipsy even w/o drugs)

Deidre had been out plenty since she had Vegas. She knew her limits pretty well. She also only had 3 hours to closing. This is why I believe what ever it was it was not planned she didn't know she was going out her father was supose to help her move. She didnt have much time to call people (remember she didn't own a phone) between his canceling and her going out. I am sorry for my poor spelling. Too lazy to type it in Word Perfect to check it first. I believe it was not some one she knew well if at all. Maybe someone in their extended group of friends. I just wish someone knew.

Theresa

I think I'd contact the Montel Williams show, it can be done via email. Sylvia Browne is on his show every Wed.......I'd write everything I knew about the case & ask if they can help? Montel flies people to the show free just to get the story. It's a long shot but nothing to loose at this point......she might be able to give a name. There are many who are very well known & will do it free of charge under circumstances like this. Leave no stone unturned......!!!

OK - your info helps a lot. It sounded like from Crimelibrary that she went out, then called her dad and wanted to move - spur of the moment. Instead, it's the other way around. Moving cancelled, so she decided to go out. If unplanned and spur of the moment, that changes things too.

Theresa - it's also been reported that her Myspace page talked about some time off work and she was going to go out. Was that this time period or a different one?

You're right - she had from 11pm - 2am and didn't plan on going out, so any stalkers/preplanned thing would be out the window. It would have to be a crime of opportunity then, and I think that points more towards someone unfamilar. On the other hand, I think you're right that it's a local, too.

If it was unplanned that Deidre go out then that means it wasn't probably someone totally unfamiliar with any of her habits. Dang this is just so not right.
Has LE came up with anything at all yet????

I have not heard that LE have any more leads. But I wouldnt imagine they would be public knowledge even if they did. The family is holding a ceremony to thank the community for all their support Sunday (today) from 5-7pm at the Knights of Columbus hall for any of you that are close by and would like to attend. There will be speakers prayer and reflection by many at 7. Just wanted to let you know.
