I believe you are spot-on.

I mean, even telling Jayme that they "love her to the moon and back." Quoting a well-known children's book is a strategic way of communicating to her captor that Jayme is just a child, which is one of your great points.
They are not just quoting a well-known children’s book - this is something that Denise said in (at least) two different birthday posts that she made on FB - once to her goddaughter (Jan 2017) and again to Jayme (Jul 2017). So I think it is another personal connection they are using to talk to Jayme.

I don’t know how to link to a particular post but here is her FB page and you can scroll to those dates. Denise Closs

A few comments have seemed to suggest that the Starbucks coffee and/or something said in the press conference could've been used as a cryptic message to a perp that LE is onto him/her/them. I can assure you that the last thing LE is going to do in this situation is taunt someone who has already impulsively murdered two people and has another potential murder victim in tow.

JMO.

The FBI agent said "I'm not saying what we have, sir, I'm saying what we're doing." This in regard to the question of you have no suspect. I just relistened to be sure.
What was he answering to when he said, " you will be the first to know?" I think the sheriff said it but now I don't remember what it was in response to. I thought it was about a suspect.

I really believe they know who has her, but they don’t know where they are and don’t want any harm to come to Jayme if they Make it public. I think the Starbucks and dog was a sign sent to Jayme and or the perp to let them know that they know what’s gone on. I think the perp is known to Jayme. Please god, she’s still alive and they get her home soon.

I wonder why LE is only asking for information on Highway 8 for the hours between 00:30 and 01:30? I wish they would have went back a few hours just in case there may have been suspicious activity before then. MOO.

IDK, but it only added to my doubt of the neighbor's account of hearing 2 shots at 12:31. Not that I think she is lying, but I think her memory of the time is off or she looked at the clock wrong. If they think the perp's car could have been just entering that 14 mile stretch of hwy 8 starting at 12:30 AM then it's unlikely the car arrived to the house by 12:31 and unlikely its occupants had time to fire 2 shots at the door by 12:31. Seems like LE would have backed the timeline for requests from witnesses up at least 15-20 minutes prior to when they think the crime started. Unless perhaps they don't think the crime began at 12:31?
JMO.

I'm new to this thread. If someone in my house fired a shot, my dog would freak the heck out. He's never attacked anyone. But I think he'd attack the person. I suspect that the dog may have the perp's DNA.

Those were taken for her dance classes and are likely professionally retouched photos. I may be wrong, because I don't have facebook, but as far as I can tell those were not public photos on her social media prior to her disappearance. Maybe they were on her mom's page? I'm not sure. But it's far different from a teen trying to look older and putting that type of photo out there on her own social media.

I thought they must be. In my experience, even the younger girls at dance schools look forward to wearing their costumes and having their hair and makeup done for their photos and recitals.

Don't know if this has been brought up before (I've tried reading every comment on these threads).

Could Jayme have been drinking a Starbucks drink when the perp supposedly kicked the door in and started shooting? I'm wondering if they found a partially-finished frappucchino? This may sound weird, because it was so late, but I'm curious.

JMVHO.

ETA: Hey-Debbie, you beat me to it!
Interesting. Maybe her dad brought her home a beverage? He gets to the house, the door is deadbolted. He hears a commotion. He kicks in the door.
I'm a little surprised at how many people think you have to be very strong to kick a door in. A young, smallish woman (not me, BTW) can kick a door in having a temper tantrum.
A deadbolted front door? It is possible, I suppose. That would be a twist.

What was he answering to when he said, " you will be the first to know?" I think the sheriff said it but now I don't remember what it was in response to. I thought it was about a suspect.
He was answering the question as to whether the suspect was known or not known to Jayme.

like some that posted earlier I hope that house has had every inch searched. I taught my kids to hide and hide well in some specific places that I wont say publicly. I never considered that if they were badly injured they might also hide in those same places. a good hideing place could be why mother didn't go to her too.

Then why not say that at the press conference? A reporter asked a direct question about that incident. Also FBI agent would not answer the question about not having any a suspect in mind, rather he said he would tell what they were doing, not what they have....something to that effect. Curious response, imo
If he came out and said that tip was unfounded, and in the future refused to comment when asked about some other tip, people might infer the 2nd tip was valid. By refusing to comment on any of them he continues to hold all the cards.

When people here talk about the " timeline", not the one posted by the WS Mod. Staff, but just " gunshots were heard and 911 wasn't called for 20 minutes later".

I am not sure I'm understanding the thinking process here. IF, and this is a generalized " if" not specific to this crime as we know it, but IF a perp. or perps. entered the house through force or subterfuge ( car out of gas, is this your puppy we found that is hurt? etc) how are people guessing at the time the perp. arrived at the home?

MANY home invasions last for hours. I know of one in my small home town that did. ( The man was the president of the largest bank in town. He convinced the intruder that the bank safe was on a timer, which it probably was. The intruder stayed there all night and somehow, the couple was not harmed. I also don't think the bank was robbed in the end).

We know that the two killers of Dr.William Petit's teenaged daughters and his first wife stayed in the house for many hours. This is probably true of other home invasions due to the high risk nature of the crime itself.

The perps. of a home invasion are committing a very high- risk crime. They don't know if an attack dog is going to be there, if a family friend who is armed to the teeth and is a veteran marksman is going to be sitting in the living room, or usually anything about the " armed vs. unarmed" status of the house.
The Closs house could have had a security alarm. There is no sign from the outside now that a house does or doesn't have an alarm and cutting any kind of wires is not going to stop the call from going out- it's going to speed help up.

So, as I understand it, we know there was a birthday party that afternoon per the grandfather, and it ended what I'd call early, and had been held at another relative's house. Same grandfather said James wasn't there because he was working.

Why doesn't the hypothetical timeline of the crime extend from the probable time Denise and Jayme returned home until EMR arrived on the scene and James died soon afterwards?

I only see it described from gunshot and neighbor accounts to the police log. That's the ENDING of the crime. Not the beginning or the middle. I tend to think the females were home when the siege began.

I don't think it's productive for me, personally, to speculate about the items identified as removed from the house: mattresses, chairs, doors or the windows until we have the NARRATIVE that goes along with each item officially. Without the proper context, all manner of speculation and argument is being made, and with the release of the info that a mattress was removed, it could get extremely distressing to family members if they read here.
This is JMO, and I mean no disrespect to anyone who thinks differently. This is something I've learned not to become too concerned with, as it's the easy part for LE in most cases. THEY will tell what happened when it's time. We obsessed over so many tiny details in the Ramsey case when this forum originally opened as Websleuths, and 22 years later, we still don't know why some things were overturned, wet, seemingly staged..

In the meantime, in the town of Barron, WI, a girl is missing, a perp. hasn't been found, and it was obvious today that the Closs family's relatives are missing Jayme so much. I hope we can help in some way to bring her home. I think that's WS's " mission".. .
Thanks for reading. I needed to ask questions because the timeline is confusing to me starting near the very end of a crime scene.
