I don’t know what to make of the yelling, but the act of dumping a car in a waterway, is by no means unusual.

It’s more than likely stolen, or dumped as part of an insurance scam.

It's not common here...

"This is my 19th year and this is obviously not something we run across every day," said Holland.

Car discovered in Fox River in Oshkosh

It sounds like the driver may have ended up in the water? I hope he or she is safe. MOO

No. The Windows were rolled up. That's my point. Someone verbally yelled for help but didn't report their car getting submerged to police. What if someone was trying to get away before the car was ditched????maybe while they switched cars?

Yes, there was a game Monday afternoon. I wouldn't think they'd take Monday off, but maybe James would take Tuesday off. No idea on when the bodies might have been found, but if they both worked 1st shift, I'd have to say they would have been missed at work Monday morning. Jayme would have been missed at school that morning as well.

I tend to think the beauty pageants aren't related since they were when Jayme was younger.
MOO

I think you are right, assuming they worked 1st shift, they wouldn't need to take off work-- kick off was at 7:15 PM: Packers vs 49ers October 15

I tend to agree about the pageants. I'm just beating the bushes to see if anything new runs out. :D

This idea is probably way way off track, but is it possible that Jayme is worth something if her parents are gone? A load of insurance money, inheritance? I mean clearly she cant get it if shes missing, or perhaps even til shes of age. But just something that came to mind.

More often than not, when something of this magnitude happens, there's usually someone who wants to get their face on TV or see their name in the newspaper.
The proverbial "fifteen minutes of fame".

TBH, I'm shocked that not one single person, (a co-worker at the factory, the schoolbus driver, one person from the town hall meeting, the clerk at the gas station they buy gas) has said one word to any news reporting station.

Makes me think that maybe that was the main intent of that town hall meeting.
In a small town things are a bit different in regards to getting your face on the TV and the consequences to that 15 mins of fame. When people are interconnected through decades of relationships like family, marriages, growing up together, raising kids together...getting your face on camera isn't received well, especially when there's the risk that something you say could inadvertently cost a missing child their life. People will protect their community. In one way it's good, people circle the wagons and don't make things worse. On the other hand it can lead to an investigative nightmare if a local is involved.
Typically at those closed town hall meetings more info is shared, people openly talk and it's not uncommon for a few frustrated fists to fly. It's a good way to get info quickly, to get on the same page and to relieve some of the frustration and pain in a controlled setting out of the public eye.

“They’re normal people,” Ruffin said. “They don’t bother nobody. They go to work, they go home — they’re about their family.”
Their obituary shows the couple is survived by their daughter, Jayme.
“There’s not one person in there that doesn’t believe Jamie is going to come home, and we’re gonna find her and bring her home,” Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said.
Sheriff Fitzgerald paid his respects to the Closs family Saturday, and he also helped provide security outside St. Peter Catholic Church.

BBM. I love the Sheriff's optimism. I hope he is right.

That potentially opens the door to a lot more people seeing photos of Jayme. The online contests I have seen requiring people to vote for photos are usually public and anyone could view and possibly see her name/location. I wonder why none of our sleuths have found old online contest entries? Or have we and I missed that? Thanks.

I see where you acknowledge on the next page that you don't think this is likely either, but just to my post clear, I was intending to point out that the contests were likely at least 10 years ago and therefore not relevant.

So we learned a bit more about James' job-- he worked in the area where they debone turkey and he delivered meat to the shipping dept-- but we still don't know his title or enough to pin down his hours. Hypothetically, if James worked a 7 AM-4 PM first shift on Sunday and was at home with Denise and Jayme after that, does anyone change their theory based on that? If so why?
I'd say it pretty much rules out road rage or a heated argument after work. Other than that, it doesn't change my thoughts on what might have happened - I still have no idea.

⬆️This! ⬆️ A thousand times..

You said it so much better than what I was trying to formulate in my mind.

This might be a crazy theory, but what if Jayme ran to her parents room when this all began and Denise gave Jayme her phone and told her hide. Eventually she called 911, but accidentally hung up. At which point, the 911 operator tried calling the number back giving away Jayme's location in the home. Knowing that 911 had been alerted, the murderer(s) grabbed Jayme because they did not have time to think of what else to do.

The car found on Oshkosh river may deserve a second look.
October 23= officers called to scene because someone was heard yelling for help. Officers responded & searched in and out of the water. Found nothing.
Oshkosh Police Investigate Suspicious Incident on Fox River

October 26= someone driving by saw the red car in the water and called police. Police recovered the car.

Car Found in Lake Butte des Morts
Fyi. I live in the area & this news source is our local CBS. Even if this isn't a car that law enforcement mentioned, it could still be related as it's very suspicious......the fact that someone was yelling,"help!".....but Windows are up, no one around and doubt it was an accident since they didn't phone police for help.
I wanna know where the car came from. Please keep us updated!!

Sure hope they get prints/samples. That color and make could certainly be mistaken for a challenger in the dark. What is the harm in taking a look?? Don’t they wanna see who stole it in the first place?

Further supports idea that perps r on meth if the vehicle is stolen. It’s like they’ve got nothin’ to loose. LE went to aunt’s house at 4:30 am w the dog. Right after they sent officers to the casino for footage. Hmmmm...

Did Jim win at the casino and some (bleep)ers followed him home to rob him?

Yes, after considering it, it is probably not relevant if photos are that old... back to the drawing board we go :(

I know what you mean. Just when I have a theory, a new bit of information comes out that makes my theory impossible. This was just a normal couple, with a normal child, in a normal town and a normal home. They were home for the night, the next day was school and work and monster entered their home. Under most scenarios I've come up, taking Jayme makes no sense. None. I just don't get it and I can't imagine why they took her. I keep hoping we wake up tomorrow and the headline is that she was found at some truckstop hundreds of miles away, safe, sound and unharmed in any way. Because the only thing that makes sense is that someone came to kill Denise or James or both of them and they took Jayme as a potential hostage to use if they needed to.

That's what I was saying before too, but not many seemed to agree with me. Knowing 911 was called and taking a screaming (I would guess) 13 year old with him, wanting a hostage in case he was caught was the only thing that made sense to me.

I was thinking that before... only because the dispatch log said they were going to the casino to check the cameras, others stated that since the cameras there face hwy 8, that was the reason why they were going to check those cameras.. if he did win and they followed him home.....LE knows exactly who did this.

Oops im editing because it didn’t Quote the way i wanted it to. I was quoting part of @BB71 post.

I don't understand. What kind of game would cause people to take time off from work? Did Jayme have a school event planned?
