I agree. If this had been a couple of teenagers they would have been found by now. I'm still not convinced this wasn't someone infatuated with Jayme tho, just older.

That’s what I think. Someone obsessed with her. Or someone she met online. Definitely someone much older than her. It’s also possible that she was initially involved with this person in some way, and she got in way over her head. She’s only 13. Kids that age can be irrational and say things they don’t mean- their emotions are all over the place. There can be a very wide maturity gap amongst girls that age- some are still very much little girls and some are already acting like they are 21. I’ve noticed this amongst my children’s friends.

Good find... but ... many states also allow "open carry". According to this site, Wisconsin does. So no need for a concealed carry permit if you can just waltz around with one in your holster on your belt! Wisconsin Open Carry - USA Carry
Yes, I see, but it is still illegal to open carry in a vehicle. I'm not saying I don't think he had a gun in his car. I'm sure he did, since a gun was used in the crime. The only other option is that he used a gun belonging to James, but I don't think that's the case in this situation. Jmo

That is a good thought! I have thought about the whole going through the woods thing. Even a camp 5 miles away can be reached in less than 2 hours of walking through a wooded area. A 5 mile radius is 100 square miles. That's a lot of ground to search. Maybe they parked a away somewhere and would walk to the vehicle?

I agree Joe.
That idea, of parking, where they would be unobserved, and walking to the vehicle, appears to be so likely.
Then to drive off, through back areas, to limit CCTV cameras.

IMO, there isn't an older boyfriend/teenage boy involved with this. I am imagining a grown adult man who is an acquaintance/known to the family. Someone who knows Jayme and is infatuated with her and has watched her for quite some time and has had reasonable access to seeing her.

Yes,
These are horrid statistics.
I wonder, if there are similar statistics available where abducted children, are found alive.
Perhaps I have missed them, if previously listed here.
I know the chances of them being found alive is slim, but I wonder if there is a specific percentage as well. I'm assuming it's very rare. Jmo

Good morning all, and thanks for allowing me to this group. I've been following this thread for awhile and figured it was about time I got involved. I grew up in the area and possibly can help shine some light on a few things.

1) The firing of guns at night. I have and known others to shoot a skunk or 2 at night. Not as sport, but not wanting them to tangle with my dogs, they carry rabies and of course I hated dealing with a skunk sprayed dog. Also, individuals coon hunt, that's at night also because they are nocturnal.

2) If Jayme would have fled the house and hid in the woods they would have found her, because they deployed Infra-red equipment, and if she was killed outside, they would have found blood and why take the body when they already left 2.

3) The area does have a history of meth. Other drugs also. Here's a link to a growing operation located about 12 miles from Barron... Marijuana, monkeys found in Comstock barn

4) Last year, remains were found in Maple Grove Township, you go on the otherside of the hwy 8, where the Closs's lived and you are in Maple Grove township. Analysis of skeletal remains leads to homicide investigation in Barron Co. - Wausau Pilot & Review
I'm beginning to wonder if this may be related, ie.. the perp killed someone, got away with it and decided he liked the feeling and stepped it up a notch. Then not killing Jayme, because he just couldn't do it. Maybe has a child of his own.

5) <modsnip - topic not allowed>.

6) <modsnip. - topic not allowed>.

7) Keeping on track, I'm thinking the perp is possibly from JC's work, This would explain the town meeting where no press was there. This would blow up big time, local, national as well as world. tying it all together, <modsnip - not allowed>. This stuff does not happen here.

8) oh yeah. Jayme? she has green eyes, she's a trophy!

The number #8 creeps me out a little. How does green eyes equate to this young lady being a trophy? No child missing would be a "trophy" in my world.

Welcome to the threads.

When you carry in your car it’s considered extension of your home. So it’s legal.

Editing because I looked on the website. And no it’s NOT legal to carry in a vehicle in Wisconsin without a permit ... sorry @MsBetsy .. :)

Why did law enforcement go to the casino after dropping the dog off <modsnip - family>? Do you know that dad worked that night? If the shifts end at 1 pm, why would dad, a reported
manager, get out an hour before? Perhaps because the run for the night finished early?
Sorry if answered already....I understand they went to the casino to retrieve their outside video.

Agreed. Especially if said person/people sensed LE was coming (like if the 911 operator could possibly be heard calling back/phone ringing).
Still trying to catch up on all the posts.
Yes! That is exactly what a 911 operator would do. Unless the phone was on silent the perp(s) would have heard it ring!!!!!!

I have followed this case closely, even now finishing reading the many threads and posts here.

To all, hello and thanks.

It seems to me it must have been acquaintances, as it makes no sense to choose that house, otherwise.

A Poster, here recently, stated he purposely went to try to locate the house.
He missed it, a couple of times, as difficult to spot while driving.
There is the possibility this criminal is an acquaintance, but also, someone, who had spotted the house previously.
Knowing, it was isolated, unseen, a murder could occur, and not be discovered, for some time.

If this is the case (and I do think it's a viable consideration) then LE would probably know who they're looking for or to keep an eye on.

I wonder if Jayme and her mom made any stops on the way home from the birthday party? It kind of reminds me of the Petit family murders. Maybe 1 or 2 bad guys saw mom and daughter in a store and followed them home. Busted in and killed dad and then did bad things to Jayme with mom at gunpoint. Then shot mom and took Jayme.

I don't know a lot about this case as I only check in every once in a while. Has mom's timeline been tracked...from leaving party? And while we're at it...who was at the party? Where was dad all day? When did dad get home? What was times of death? Have their CCs been traced for use? Cellphone calls? Texts?

This theory is high on my list, too. Although I think it was someone in the community or some other near by area where the killer saw the mother and daughter (or whole family) on a fairly regular basis. The killer became fixated on the family as a whole and Jayme in particular. Iow, not just a one time sighting of the family and an impulsive, explosive reaction but seeing them over time and making a plan. I don't think there was sexual abuse in the home; I think that was planned for when the killer had Jayme alone and after her parents were deceased. Have people found themselves typing sentences and being struck by how crazy it all is to be thinking and typing such things? It's almost unbelievable to me. The enormity of this whole insane thing hits very hard, over and over. Especially when someone posted the now empty house photos as it appears today. If ever a house could look empty and forlorn... when less than 2 weeks ago this little family was here and someone placing the pumpkins as decorations in anticipation of Halloween) ... God. It's too much to sort out. I pray for a break in this case so Jayme will be able to, with family's love and support, pick up "some" pieces and get all the help she will certainly need.

OK Folks first post on this. Here are my thoughts. MOO # Theory One
  • Angry Attack for what ever reason against parents
  • Not so angry. The minor and the dog weren't killed in situ
  • The dog is in the safety of family members
  • The Minor is still classed as missing
Is it just possible the minor JC was able to run and escape for a short period of time before being picked up unfortunately by the perpetrator's of the crime .

IMHO I Think JC jrn Escaped the house and then Ran for help in to what she thought was safety and possibly wasn't. I also think it was JC jnr who made the 911 call from her mothers phone. She couldn't speak because she was hiding. She turned the phone off to stop it ringing.

Do I think a 13 year old could do all of that, Yes I do in this day and age.

I agree with you Mingy, about Jayme.
She possibly made the 911 call, hung up, turned phone off.
Then Jayme ran out, only to be caught by the Perpetrator, and 'taken' away.
MOO.

One of the first problems a young adult would have is likely a lack of funds. If the red car pulled from the Fox River is involved and a Wisconsin resident owns it, someone knows who is involved. If it was stolen, there would be no need to remove the license plate as it would trace back to someone that is not the perp, although it could be a relative or friend of the perp.

Perhaps JC occasionally visited one of her parents at the JO plant for some time. Don't know, if this was allowed because I don't know, which position their parents had, if they both had a single bureau or if hygiene regulations had to be observed or not. At the plant, IF Jayme was a visitor, different men could have seen her (with pleasure) and would have known, to which parent she belonged.
Another thought, I had: Why does nobody contemplate to the possibility, that both females were the target ie. for sex assault and not only the teenager girl?

The person we're discussing here murdered two people and likely kidnapped another. I don't think they're making rational decisions or worrying about best practices when it comes to firearm safety.
of course! I wasn’t schooling on firearm safety there. I was just mentioning that I don’t leave mine in the car.
