After someone has either kicked in my door or shot in my door, whichever, I would Not barricade myself in the bathroom thinking I would be safe. So, I do not believe Denise was in the bathroom hiding.
I also noticed in the picture someone posted about a new door at the house, there are multiple windows that you could see whoever was outside if they knocked on the door.
Living that close to the highway though, I am sure they were accustomed to hearing cars driving by. Maybe even pulling in and turning around. This by most standards is not a "highway" being only two lanes. At least it wouldn't be where I live. Even though it is Hwy. 8, it also has a street name. I think there is a strong possibility they knew who this person was. Especially if James went even close to the door without a weapon.
LE has indicated he answered the door, maybe, because of his position when found. Maybe his position and the position of the splintered door. This is logical to me based on the very little information that has been released. jmo

This map point is the general one for Barron, WI. Is in the downtown area near 4 gas stations. Not sure why they wouldn’t list home address except for privacy perhaps? But is not location of Jenny-O (although not far from it).
Im wondering just how accurate that location thing is, it took me to a home right by Dairy Queen. Reminds me of when we all got a different house when we typed in the Closs's address.

And that family reports Jayme/Denise gave gifts to everyone at the party???
Who goes to a bday party for your nephew with gifts for every guest?
What if Denise and/or James were aware of the possible danger they were in and that’s why she brought a gift for everyone, to remember her if anything happened. To be clear, I don’t think she would have confided this knowledge or fear to any family members (she wouldn’t want to put them in danger too)imo

Bringing my post forward. Guys, the NAMUS page was entered by one of us. It's run by volunteers connected with LE and sleuths like us/advocates for the missing contribute to it. People are human and get details wrong (especially when it was wrong in a press report and on the timeline here). Plus, it is rare that I have ever seen the map go to the exact place the missing person was last seen. The map feature on NAMUS missing person pages is usually not precise. It usually drops a pin on the geographic center of whatever town is entered. UID cases might be more specific. I can't believe this has become a thing now where people think Jayme was seen in that location at that time. She wasn't.
Thanks for the info Gardener

They would have to employ them in Northern Wisconsin where they would definitely stand out when they were doing their hiring,

There is absolutely nothing funny about this crime, AND I could not help giggling a tiny bit when I pictured a drug cartel recruiting at a job fair in Northern Wisconsin.
Please forgive me. I needed a chuckle in the midst of so many concerning issues.

Is that where the police station is, maybe? It's about 2 and a half miles off. Next to the Jennie O store.

I don’t believe Denise was hiding either. I think she was buying time- maybe even just a few seconds- to dial 911 & maybe even hide the phone long enough to keep the line open. One day, hopefully at trial, we’ll learn where that phone was found.

If that were true wouldn’t DC want Jayme out of the house?

<modsnip - quoted post rumor >. I didn't realize us 'regular folk' can't access NAMEUS. I was thinking it was a public database, like a "find the missing" kind of thing. So, no way to verify if it was updated.

This isn't true. Anybody can read the NAMUS listings. If you get an account, you can see some partly private information, like ruleouts in the unidentified area. True, information can be restricted to only professionals, but mainly it's public.

Not sure about looking at changed information. I know you can subscribe to be notified, but it's not something I usually do.

NAMUS <modsnip - rumor > says, "Jayme was last seen in Barron, WI on 10/15/2018 at 12:58am."
You have to set up an account on NAMUS now. It used to be public with no log in required. I am just a "regular person" and I opened an account there recently. Hope that helps. MOO

They might not stand out as much as you'd think. Northern Wisconsin is a very popular place for people who are into hunting and fishing, and there are a lot of strangers during those seasons - renting cabins during the summer for fishing, and often in the fall for hunting. Although most of those "tourists" aren't their looking for recruits, someone who was might fit in well enough. I know there are a lot of people (those that I know are mostly men) who go out there every year, and more than one has committed murder while out there. I think the casinos in Turtle Lake and Hertel might also be a place where strangers would fit in rather easily. MOO

It took me to an actual home. I dont want to post the address because most likely its not accurate and it will be blown out of control on here.

Yes, thank you. I went a little further and it does say "general public" when you click register. I'm all signed up. :)

Mountain_Kat, I feel your pain!

First - I keep thinking: what's the likelihood of there being a family get together..then this happens...and it's not connected...?

Second: that darn 911 call.....just makes me....have all sorts of plain silly thoughts.....

BBM: You know, in the Groene case, their was also a family get together on the day, and it was a Sunday too. I thought the same thing, but it had nothing to do with it, apparently.

RBBM. Lots of families get together for lunch or dinner every Sunday as a matter of tradition. Perhaps it is less common these days? I saw my grandparents and cousins at least once a week for the family dinner growing up. If one of my cousins had a birthday that week then the meal included cake and ice cream and singing happy birthday. That said, I'm confused as to why this family gathering could be significant to the crime. A Sunday family gathering for a cousin's birthday sounds pretty common, mundane almost. Can either of you enlighten me as to why you think it could be significant? TIA

(as long as your thoughts are within TOS, of course, if not just ignore me and I won't take offense at all ;))

I did not register.
The address is not in the written description. Under the description it says Last Known Location with a location icon. Click on that and it shows the adress.

I also thought that might be where their weapons were. Maybe in a closet.
We've also touched on James being a hunter. Most all the men I know are hunters, but many of their wives are too. At least they know how to use a gun. Especially for defense against bears or other wild animals. It is just part of living in the woods.
Edited to correct pronoun.

As has been explained before, unless LE enters a specific address or coordinates, the "location" is whatever Google Maps defaults to, usually the center of the geographic entity (city, village, county, etc.)
