Could their be some overlap between the parents shifts where Jayme is alone in the home briefly? Maybe at her age they didn't think it was a big deal at 1230am if she were alone sleeping for a few minutes while one parent left but the other was on the way home. I dunno, just thinking maybe someone thought there was a tiny window of time that she would be alone but they miscalculated or one of the parents schedules changed or they didn't go for some reason or came home early etc.
Yes I think this is definitely a possibility. I'd be interested to know when exactly they both ended their shifts that day/night

FWIW, we have no idea that LE is expecting to find needles on the roadside. Maybe, but I haven't seen any indication from LE that meth is involved at this point.

IMO, LE knows something about Turtle Lake and needs to look at the route between the two places so asked an eager public to help out. I'm thinking the real action is in Turtle Lake at this moment.

But where? What? Why?

jmo

Hopefully, we'll get many of our questions answered today.

So, they'll be looking for things of interest tossed into the ditches along Highway 8. This jives with an attempted quick getaway from the crime scene, IMHO.

Wondering how Turtle Lake plays into this? Did the perp. frequent the casino?

I saw a casino was right near Turtle Lake. Gambling debts for anyone? Or a random stopover after murdering two people and taking a thirteen year old? jmo

The casino is not near Turtle Lake, it is in Turtle Lake city limits. A small part of Turtle Lake is also in Polk County.

As a semi-local to the Barron area, but who was born and raised in Northwestern Wisconsin, I want to say that even though it’s been 20 years since I was Jayme’s age, some things still don’t change, and by that, I mean the love that our communities have for its citizens, and the love that the citizens have for their communities.

Even with drugs, and cell phones, and the internet, and whatever, we are still hardworking (mostly blue-collar) people who know our neighbors, care about the cities we live in, and we will do anything to help each other out.

If there is any group of people who can find Jayme, it’s Sheriff Fitzgerald and the citizens of Northwestern Wisconsin. We know this area inside and out; we know what happens in our neighborhoods, on our streets.

I don’t know Jayme or her family, but I hold firm that Jayme is with someone that she knows, and that she is somewhere close by. I hope Polk County is actively searching throughout the county for Jayme.

I havent read back in this thread much yet so forgive me. But as I watch the WCCO chopper feed I wonder, why here? Why are they scoping out this particular location? Have they said? Is it possible they pinged her phone here?

Random WI question...are meat processing/packaging plants common? I noticed that all three towns involved in the search zone have one.

I think so. Besides venison processing for whitetail season, many towns in WI have had a processor for years, especially if they don't have a grocery store...family started them in the days before supermarkets and refrigerated meat sections.

Earlier in this thread, some folks familiar with the area said that it was likely the murderer had to head west out of Barron, as heading out east would have placed them squarely running into LE.

Edit: fixed typo

I am very impressed by this community and LE. I like that they are holding pressers and doing this search.
I am surprised that there is no reward yet.
It seems like an organized and methodical investigation. I hope that indicates they have clues to follow. Seems like it....something lead them to Turtle Lake.

Yes they do. First time I received an alert I was in a public place and some two dozen cell phones went off around me. Definitely gets your attention.
Off topic:
Wanna guess how many cell phones were collected from the adult detention system when the national alert went out?
Who knew what kinda trouble you can get into and out of with a phone?

They probably were advised this as a precautionary to be careful. I know the meth heads in the city I live in prefer to leave their uses syringes laying everywhere both on the streets and in buisnesses without even putting the covers back on the needle part.
Also dangerous activity for any K-9 as well. People might be able to do the job just a little quicker!

I agree. LE and community seem extremely involved and active. Good point about the reward. Is it too early to offer rewards for information? Anyone have any insight regarding the lack of reward?? Maybe LE knows alot more than they are saying and don't think a reward will help anything?
