I have never seen a house without locks on the bathroom door. Jmo
Me too! I mean, how would a per
It's definitely inconclusive as to what is on the front left of the chair. It's also possible that it's some sort of ID tag. I suppose something like a zip tie could also look like splinters that protrude top and bottom? JMO, but I don't think that this white object is enough evidence to support the conclusion that someone was tied to this chair, which was a prevailing theory over the last few days.
I don't think it would be someone tied to a chair, as it is lightweight and if it were me, I would be able to walk with it on, if given the chance to get away.

Just a few things:

All 5 cell phones in my family are in my name, I opened and paid for the Verizon Wireless account. So is that one potential reason why reports are the phone belonged to the mom? Maybe the cell accounts are in her name, but her husband or Jayme may also have had phones.

rsff

When 911 operator called back it went to the mother's voice mail.

Good question, especially since the aunt recently moved and thus would have new neighbors, etc etc. If the aunt has children Jayme’s age (or cares for kids her age), Jayme may also have had more opportunities to be online or interact with outsiders than she did at home.

Or if the caretaker took her places, say for ice cream or a certain park, hypothetically.

Thank you so much!! This makes a great difference in the timeline. The question is what were they doing in the house so long? Appx 25 minutes from initial gunshots to call. So many questions. When people suggested that the chair had restraints, I thought there was not enough time. The length of the ties is off for a chair cushion. So I wil add it to my assumptions that there was indeed enough time to restrain someone. This is a horrible crime to try to decipher. Everything about it is frightening.
It would be great to get a house map of where each bedroom and bathroom are inside and also a timeline showing the correct times, especially re. neighbours.

Throwing out theories here - what if the intruder is someone the family knows? This person came over to the house, an argument of some sort occurred, somebody grabbed a gun, dad went to the door as if to open it for them to leave, there's a struggle, James gets shot, then they turn to Denise, trying to make a call - they shoot her, Jayme sees the whole thing, and in a panic they grab her and run. Plausible theory, however, no idea who the intruder is, and what subject would make a discussion that heated?
ETA: the possible suicide from dispatch could be someone was heard in the background saying they would kill themselves if *blank* does or does not happen? This could be coming from the intruder, if they were mentally unstable?

I also think there’s confusion created by the wording of “family caretaker.” Whoever initially used the phrase meant that it was a relative who looked after Jayme (and, in fact, it turned out to be her aunt). A caretaker who is an extended family member, a “family caretaker.”

The phrasing, however, makes it sound like a social services person appointed to monitor family dynamics and ensure any vulnerable persons receive adequate care, a caretaker for the family. There’s no indication that’s the case here.
I completely agree, and after a week of this confusion, I wish they'd simply used the term "babysitter."

It doesn’t really explain the door being kicked in though.

It also doesn’t explain why there hasn’t been a break yet, if the killer is that close to home.

Am I the only one leaning toward an older boyfriend situation?

For me, this is the only one that makes sense ( as of now). There are things we believe are known facts:

Gunshot went off at around 12:31 am and 911 call comes in at 12:53 am were yelling can be heard in the background. P0lice arrive at 1:00 am. There are two deceased people and one missing child.

Police are sure Jayme was present when murders occur. The ONLY way they could know this is she was on video whether visual or audio.

I see zero chance that a drug deal gone bad, trafficking ring, robbers ect... Are going to make rooky mistakes like leaving shell casings, not securing hostages to make a 911 call or take 20 minutes between killing one and then get into an argument with anyone else in that house.

Whoever this person is they felt secure enough to walk right up to the front door. I would even say that James probably began to open it and saw the gun and attempted to shut it and that is when it got kicked or shot in.

The family not pleading for this young girls life makes sense if they have reason to believe she is somehow involved. Not as the murder, but with the murder.

As for radar online they are a gossip site, and yet there have been several cases bobo, chambers, tibbett that somehow they get people close enough to the case to begin talking.

This scenario screams to me a delusional individual saw themselves as the rescue. I would definitely check out that dad's cabin. This young lady is not safe.

<modsnip - no source for rumor>

Not a bad angle at all. Definitely would answer why the girl was not killed. I so want to believe she is still alive.

Shouldn't cell towers know every pinging phone even if you dont know the number you want to check for?

Like who was pinging here around this time? Bam.

Shouldn't it be that easy by now? Like a cell tower dump or something?

There was a tech guy who posted for a bit in the Mollie Tibbetts threads who suggested pulling the logs of a target home's internet router might yield useful data.

Even if the perp didn't have the login info, a lot of devices are set up to automatically "ping" in-range wireless hotspots; whether or not those non-authorization attempt pings are logged by the router depends on how the router's logging's configured.

While I agree with you that it seems like a harder way to abduct her, if she wasn’t the target, why not just kill her on the spot? The moment they knew she or someone had called 911 they would have to known their window was short. Why not just shoot her and get the heck out? Instead they risk what we can only assume to be a struggling kid to get into a vehicle and get away quickly. That doesn’t add up either.
I don’t think it’s going to be possible for you, me, or most of us here to see through the eyes of somebody like this and make sense of their thoughts. As much as we try to make sense of it all, we’re just not wired that way.

To be more direct than I’m comfortable with, just shooting her and leaving is too merciful for this person. This whole scene is about unspeakable horror and I don’t think we know the half of it.

The "caretaker" has since been identified as JC's Aunt. I believe the consensus now is "family caretaker" sounded better than "babysitter" of 13 year old. This person is said to be family so I don't believed connected to any outside source but simply someone to drive busy teen to her after school events, track meets, etc. when working parents unavailable. MOO
do we know if aunt has, or previously had, an official position as a caretaker somewhere? just asking because i saw someone's profile on FB that for her employment she lists both Jennie-O and working as a caretaker. Now, obviously NOT going to provide link or name, and i don't believe at all that this person is involved in any way, but thought the coincidence was interesting. Working at Jennie-O isn't odd given the location, so maybe caretakers are a big thing in the area too. But i'm thinking about possible links and who knew who, etc.

I was just talking to my favorite go-to all around brainiac about this case. I just gave them the bare bones overview, and their immediate response to the "why" was gambling debt. I had *not* told them Jayme's family home was close to a casino, so this gave me goose bumps. Their backup theory was a disgruntled employee.

I find the gambling theory interesting, and wonder if this has any possibility?

Amateur opinion and speculation only
