You got it! I started a thread in the discussion forum, and copied all the links (the ones that were still active) so that we can start over there. This thread will be for information only.

I haven't seen ABC do anything on her yet.. so- Good for the Nolan Family- Kelly is getting a LOT of coverage! Keep her in the news!

http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=3341397&page=1

She's so conscientious," April said in an interview with ABC News. "She would know that she would have hundreds of people worrying and wondering."
"She wouldn't just disappear," her sister said. "It's completely out of her character. She's responsible and has goals in her life."

I'm glad this thread was started.

(AP) Madison, Wis. Two weeks after a student disappeared following a night of drinking, her family announced details of a $10,000 reward, even as police said they have no reason to suspect foul play.

This was under "related stories" (posted 3 hours ago):

Audrey Seiler -- who faked her own abduction in March 2004 when she was 20 -- has finally paid off her $9,000 restitution to the city. That's what police said Tuesday.

Madison police are currently looking for another missing student. The case of 22-year-old Kelly Nolan is drawing parallels.

Hi SS. I'm glad that Audrey has finally paid her restitution, but she can never undo the damage she has done to real victims of crimes like this. I don't want to believe that our Madison PD is tainted by the experience of Audrey Seiler... but I know that public opinion has changed regarding young missing female students. The first thing people thought when Angela Drake went missing in Fitchburg was "It's just another Audrey". As many know, Angela was found dead in a ditch.

I wish the whole thing had never happened. It's really frustrating to see an article that says there are parallels between Kelly and Audrey. I see no parallels. I hope that when she is found (hopefully alive) that people will realize that jumping to that conclusion helps no one.

Speaking of parallels, however.... I do see a lot of parallells between Angela Drake's disappearance and Kelly Nolans. Both were out at a bar, both separated from friends, and both left with a man. I hope, with ALL my heart, that the conclusion won't be the same. :(

A tearful Mary Jane Nolan said Saturday the reward is being offered for information leading to the return of her daughter or the conviction of anyone responsible for 22-year-old Kelly K. Nolan's disappearance.

The money has been donated by two sources. The Carole Sund/Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation, a California group that helps find missing persons, is offering $5,000, and a corporation with ties to the family is offering the other $5,000 anonymously, the mother said.
<SNIP>

Isn't the Carole Sund/Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation the same group that helped Sharon Rocha when Laci disappeared? I think it is. If I remember right, one of the people with the CSCMRF did most of the press conferences that the Rocha's had when laci first went missing. I remember Sharon saying that they were a great help during that time. God Bless the people who do that kind of work. The people who extend a hand and give anything they can to a family who is hurting beyond our imagination.

Since I wasn't up on the Drake case, I checked it out. You are right. There are definite similarities between the two cases.

I don't know tho...I have felt from the beginning something in this case wasn't quite right and it isn't just knowing about Audrey's case. The way things have been played out with Kelly Nolan seems so odd. Trying to skirt the issue she was dealing with the death of her father, step-mother, school problems, duis, etc. wasn't a good move on LE's part.

Has anyone mentioned what her relationship with her mother has been like throughout the past couple of years? Has it been strained? I know when a parent dies, sometimes it either draws a child closer to the surviving parent or can cause a child to push the parent away out of anger and remorse. Was she close to her step-mother? How did this death affect her relationship with her own mom? I would like to know how Kelly was really affected by all of the trauma leading up to her disappearance and how it could play into what has happened to her. It certainly may have nothing to do with anything, but who knows at this point?

LOL! :slap:

I did read the whole post... I just don't know the answers. My impressions are all I really have. It sounds like she was very close with her mother and her sister. I'm not sure about other siblings (do you remember hearing about any?). I have not heard anything at all about the details of any relationships she had with the father and step mother.

From the articles early on, her sister April had said that it is very unusual for her not to be in contact with the family for more than a half of a day. It left me with the impression that she called her mom and sister several times a day. Which is why I have no idea why they waited almost a week before going to the media with her disappearance. They reported her missing on Sunday. Nothing was in the paper or online until the following Thursday.

You mentioned that you feel they're trying to skirt the issue about dealing with the deaths, and school problems. You've hit on something that has been sort of bothering me too.

Her mom says that Kelly told her that she had enrolled in the fall. But, the UW Whitewater spokesperson has said that she had not enrolled. UWW says that the seniors have priority enrollment time in April, but she didn't enroll then, and hasn't enrolled for classes in the fall up to now. I wonder if she wasn't planning on going, and didn't have the heart to tell her mom yet... or if she was planning on enrolling, but just hadn't done it yet. It could be simply a money issue. She was working a summer job (that she had just been fired from)... so maybe she was just saving up for tuition. I really wish the family would tell us more. It seems like the more details people have, the more interest everyone would take.

Tha Carole Sund/ Carrington Foundation is the same group who assisted Sharon Rocha when Laci went missing.

I read in one article that Kelly has 3 sisters.
I could see where someone would be upset if a parent died / but not so much a step parent unless they had raised them from very young.

Her Mom said she was very close to Kelly I think that was on Greta.

mssheila,

Please don't worry about any of your posts. I haven't seen anything you needed to worry about.

During the Christine Rudy / Shawn Rudy case in Thorp Wis I called LE with tips we had here. I got to be friends with her cousin & Christines best friend we are still in close contact today. I was very out spoken of LE / the DA etc

LE don't have the resources to sit mulling over every aspect of a case the way we do here. People might think we do no good.....but that is where they are wrong.

You're right about that! I think that we do a lot here. Because I live in Madison (as you all know by now)... I can take the information that we discuss here and look at these places we talk about. Tomorrow, my route for work will be taking me downtown, and I'll try to drive to these places and see what I can find out about the locations. One thing I did want to do for sure was try to figure out how long it would take Kelly to walk from The Lava Lounge to the building she was living in. Does anyone remember which street she lived on? I've been looking all over for that article that gave info from the guy she was subletting from... I think he talks about where it was located. If anyone knows, or can find what street she lived on, that would help a bunch! :blowkiss: I'm glad to have people here who take an interest in this as much as I do. I'm going to be passing out posters tomorrow, and trying to get a map put together on her last known whereabouts.
