darlie routier did take the stand. here is her testimony

http://www.justicefordarlie.net/transcripts/volumes/vol-44.php#2

although it is MUCH better to read the entire transcripts in order to realise how awful an idea it was for her to do

ETA: I think ICA has much more to lose by NOT taking the stand than darlie routier did

ETA again whoa I had completely forgotton that darlie also played the sex abuse card. this is IMO a very interesting read for anyone following ICA case.

fwiw darlie is on death row.

Thanks for posting this link. I don't know a ton about the Darlie Routier case but from what I do know, she seems to remind me a lot of ICA. I would really like to do much more research into this case. Maybe once this trial is over....which may be never.

As for ICA testifying, my gut is telling me she will not. She is already proven to be a complete and utter liar, so it's not like the jurors are going to believe a word that comes out of her mouth. It just wouldn't make any sense for the DT to put her on the stand....but a lot of things the DT has done hasn't made any sense, so I guess anything is possible. With all of that said, I would really love to see her testify. I think it would be fascinating to see what she would say, what her mannerisms would be like, etc. I really think she is one for the psych books and we will see her written about for many years to come.

The devil is in the details ... ICA is good at inventing people, their backgrounds and, tales like zanny's crash but they seem to be based on prior experiences re-worked.

If ICA testifies to the pool accident she needs to be prepared to have a complete story with all the details ... Like those you don't think of until asked step-by-step -- the same with the abuse. IMO ICA's lies while very descriptive did not stand much scrutiny but she stuck with them anyway. It is going to be he said she said if there is no supporting testimony so who do you believe ... ICA the party girl or GA the grieving Grandfather? - or are some Jurors pre-disposed towards sexual abuse?

The SA are going to dig deep if ICA testifies so she better have a complete story that is convincing and survives probing ... It will be the performance of her life to save her life and convince the Jury that this is the truth and not just another lie.

As she is the only witness to what the defense is claiming I would think she would have no choice but to testify. There is no evidence to back up the drowning other than her word.

Do the DT have to let the SA know that she will or will not testify in advance?

I don't know if she will take the stand, but I would love to see her though-I want to see how she explains all those lies with the new lies she tells in court..then remember all the new lies when the SA cross examines her!!-that would be priceless!!

I actually think the defense team is CONSIDERING putting Casey on the stand. The reason for that, in my opinion, is that the only time the jury has heard Casey speak is in the jail-tapes - and that ain´t pretty! They will be left with that very unfavourable impression of her.
It MIGHT humanize her if she got up there and gave a boo-hoo performance. No one will believe a word she says, but if she can pull off a convincing crying fit, at least they could perhaps see her as human. What do they have to lose? She is in knee deep as it is.

I think Casey should go for a plea deal. Tell the truth FOR ONCE, silly girl.

I'm not sure if it would make a difference here if iCA takes the stand---she already has ZERO credibility with the jury. They have seen and heard HOURS of her lying EXTREMELY well to the people who know her best. Anyone seriously believe the jurors would trust anything she said?

Whether or not ICA takes the stand I think depends on JB and the DT talking her out of it. I think she still thinks she's clever and can talk her way out of this, if she INSISTS on taking the stand, there won't be anything JB can really do about it.

There has been alot of critisism of JB for his opening statement, but I really don't believe that is the OS JB wanted to do. I think he wanted to go for the accidental drowning with Casey alone, but I think ICA insisted on involving George because she doesn't want to take one iota of responsibility. I'd bet money that the DT tried to talk her out of JB's ridiculous story, but couldn't. Same with her taking the stand, in the end it won't matter what the DT wants to do, it comes down to what ICA wants to do. They can advise her, but she has the final say.

I voted No. With that said, I'd like to make this personal appeal to Casey:

PLEASE testify! I dare you!!!

I don't think she'll take the stand. These State attorneys are so much better than the defense, they'll finish her off in no time.

The story of drowning is a loser after the duct tape testimony and Dr G's testimony about there being no reason to tape the mouth of a child who died 'accidentally'.

I believe they're going to count on either a lighter verdict than 1st or go for the appeal.....but don't count on Jose being there after this trial is over. IMO this is a 'make' or 'break' for him. We'll see.

I have no hard and fast prediction for the verdict. It's too difficult to do that when you consider there are 12 jurors with 12 different life experiences. That said, I guarantee they won't be life long friends when it's over. At least one or two will attempt to either hang the jury or hold out for a lighter charge.

I hope I'm wrong about that.

In another attempt to become Perry Mason, Baez may just call ICA first when he begins his defense.

I am still going with I think she will testify. In her warped thinking, she may still believe she can talk her way out of this. I am crossing my fingers she talks :)

Well, I would think that the DT has discussed their strategy with her before opening their defense with a story that cannot be confirmed by anyone other than the defendant. So, it appears that they are confident in her ability to relate her tale convincingly enough to sway the jury. She has had a lot of practice in deception and she has undoubtably learned much from these events.

Remember, she needs only to raise reasonable doubt in 1 juror to force a hung jury. From reading all the posts here by people with little or no familiarity with this case, that is a distinct possibility.

From my own perspective, I cannot, for the life of me, understand how anyone can look at her demeanor and believe that an accident occurred and KC chose to spend 3 years in jail rather than admit to it. Why then admit to it now?

This girl is looking to hang her father. I know people all talk about the tension between her and Cindy. I think she could fool her mother with her tall tales, but her father wasn't so easy to dupe. And she despised him for that and for loving Caylee more than he did her.

I think she wants to take the stand to completely destroy George, which will also finish off whatever sanity is left in Cindy. She may toss Lee a bone of "forgetfulness" about his alleged abuse, because he seems to still have feelings for her.

Taking the stand may be KC's way of settling all old grievances, even if she risks her own life to inflict more suffering on the misguided parents who loved her.

I didn't answer yes or no because I just can't decide.
- No, if she did, it would be suicide. LDB would rip her to shreds & likely prompt a visious display of temper, ( the mother of all "nobody is letting me talk !" outbursts).
- On the other hand, yes because she's arrogant and stupid enough to think she can talk her way out of this, (Danny Pelosi comes to mind).

Now that we've seen the defense's outragous 'story' of Caylee's death & her mother's subsequent reprehensible behavior - I would love to see a NEW yes or no poll. What say the moderators ?

Even if she does take the stand , WHO IN THE WORLD CAN BELIEVE A WORD THAT COMES OUT OF HER PIE HOLE.:maddening:

It'd be cool to allow ICA to testify, tell her new tale and then ... The SA refutes it all in their rebuttal with a surprise witness or two. ICA trips over her own lies ... Once again.

IMO there is no way she will testify.

As much as I'd like to hear what she has to say about this "accident" version of events, what's the point? She is a pathological liar and I personally would not believe ONE word uttered from her mouth (including her name) without corroborating evidence.

The defense has been so bad so far that I don't think they have anything to lose by putting KC on the stand. They lost this case when Baez said George sexually abused her along with her brother Lee. It was over at that point. And when he added George disposing of the body, it was over again. And when he added that Roy Kronk found the body and kept it till December 11th is his final disaster.

So who put the child in the trunk because that is huge and it has been proven over and over again that there was a body in the trunk.

One has to almost ask whether Baez wants to lose the case.

Good post by Softtail. It has a link that discusses whether or not KC will take the stand and some very good points are brought up

If she does the state would only have to ask her 2 questions:

1. Have you ever been convicted of a felony?

2. Were you raised to lie?
