BBM...I respectfully disagree with the statment I have bolded.. Also, It doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell the truth about what happened to a five year old.. All she has to do is name the person/s responsible for whatever it is that happened to Haleigh, and tell what happened..IMHO there is nothing complex about that, there are many pre schoolers who are capable of doing just that...JMO
I agree with you Em, up to a point, & this is hard for me to explain, but I'll try. It's not just the 6th grade education, because @ that age, I expressed myself very well, but it's her capability to learn, & then take that knowledge & defend herself. I just don't see it. I think she has learning disabilities that were ignored, so her educational level might be more on line with a 3rd grader. I think this case might come down to a he said/she said between Misty & Ron, & if it does, she's gonna be @ a huge disadvantage, because Ron is smart, & he has the ability to use mental skills that she just does not possess. He has the ability to outsmart Misty in a war of words, & that's not fair-because I don't trust him to be honest. I would like to see an even playing field, & if the answer is a language expert, as BlueSky reccomends, then I'm all for it. I feel like Ron & Teresa have been outwitting Misty since the beginning, & I hope a judge won't let her lack of mental capabilities be exploited.

How do you think Misty would score on a language skills test?

It is a fact a person with a grade 6 education will not know how to communicate effectively with others, be able to process complex information and follow instructions. It is pointless to deny a person's level of education doesn't effect their ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. This is why employers want high school graduates. I have a teaching degree and provide support services to underpriviledged people in conflict with the law. I also worked with forensic psychologists, psychiatrists and mental health workers who conduct court ordered assessments and evaluations for the Justice Dept. Misty is a person with special needs. Have you looked at her letters or listened to the tape where she is struggling to say what she means but misuses the verbs and nouns? She does not know English well at all and it's because she was allowed to drop out of school.

Bluesky, I always enjoy your posts but I have to disagree with this one. A sixth grade education would not prevent Misty from communicating with others. She is not mentally challenged, she has learning disabilities. I don't pretend to know much but I know this is a fact; In NC, a high school education is equal to an 8th grade education. Our community colleges teach courses on 9th grade levels. You are being suckered in by Misty to believe she is mentally challenged. She may not be the brightest crayon in the box, but she is not mentally challenged. Learning disabilities can often make people stumble but does not mean they are unable to circumvent their disabilites and get their point across. JMO

..Now I understand what you are saying and IF this is what BlueSky was saying, then I do agree... As I see it, they have attempted to set Misty up since day one and she hasn't been aware of it...JMO

Edit.. BBM RED
I don't trust Ron, his momma, his grandma, or anyone in his family to be honest. They will do anything to keep their Golden Boy from going down.. IMHO.. They have already proven that...

Misty has been the quintessential "patsy" from the get-go. jmo

I am going to say that misty has mental problems, plus a personality problem probably being BPD and it could be severe and she has compartmentalized any emotions into a safe place. Because I believed from the start she was delusional, it may have been my way of seeing her with this restricted affect at times. She doesn't respond in a nomal manner to any kind of a loss. When told about rc speaking bad of her, she defends him and says, "Oh, he wasn't talking about me". When speaking of Haleigh, she doesn't appear to be able to help in any significant way. She has blocked that too. If something reflects on her that is negative, she will deflect it, even if it makes no sense and defies logic. When rc was spotted with a new galpal, she says it doesn't bother her...WTH? She really doesn't show that it does either. Her emotional package though tell us it has to, right? Not necessarily. She never let it be known. I don't think this was intentional either. She was convincing.

She is a quick thinker so I don't put her in any kind of disability that way. Her problem is on the emotional end. She cannot be reached. This is either because she is conivng or she is very deluded (substituting for disassociating). I don't give her enough credit to be coniving, have to think about that.

Was all this due to her drug use? Not sure, but don't think so. I better listen to the tapes as I have not done so yet. I may change my mind or pick up something.

I've heard about crack babies & fetal alcohol syndrome, so it's possible that something was damaged before birth. Look @ her mom. She's been doing drugs for a long time. Even the bus stop video guy, alluded to crack babies, when talking about Misty. I don't know how or when, but I think something's wrong up there.

I've never read any details, but I remeber Misty telling her mom that Ron kept & took her medications. What were these for? I guess it's possible that she was diagnosed & treated for some disorder-maybe from an early age. I wonder if she got a gov. check.

Excuse me if I'm being a pest, but I'm not sure that we aren't going off topic? If I'm wrong, then continue. If I'm right, please find a thread that discusses Misty's mental issues. I think we already have two that are open. Thanks!

I think it was her anti-anxiety meds IIRC.

*Sorry Kimster-back on track now, just wanted to answer the ?

On all the jail house interviews, Hank Sr can be heard sighing heavy. This is an anxiety issue. It may be inherited by the children. I will say the least misty has and her brother has are anxiety issues. Pychiatrist don't normally prescribe anti-anxietys to kids though...

Can't go any further here though, I guess I will see about looking for another thread.

He also stated in one of the jailhouse interviews he had checked his blood pressure and it was way high.. 160 170 180 over 109.. Can't remember exactly how high it was, but that was with him taking BP medicine too...JMO

My skin is crawling on the third tape of LC and TC. His nervous laughter was obvious throughout tape one--I interpret that as "what is she thinking about all this." LC sounds confident, organized, content in response. She's finding everything she needs, but both of them are yearning for "rocket fuel" which is an obvious craving for something illegal by the way they are chortling together. By the third tape the truth begins to come out, he is a wreck feeling the walls closing in from MC's letters, and certainly is uncomfortable with the idea of a public polygraph.:twocents:

On the Larry subject and the $35,000....didn't TM have someone willing to pay the money?

I don't know about Hank, Sr. or other members of the Croslin family, but it's been mentioned that Misty used an Albuterol inhaler, presumably for asthma or some other breathing disorder. When I'm in the midst of an asthma episode, I frequently inhale deeply and sigh or exhale in an attempt to breathe more easily. I've been doing this a lot lately because of high pollen counts in my part of the country, and I've needed to use my bronchodilating inhaler several times daily.

We have had the priviledge of watching Misty's many faces. Compare Misty sitting beside Ron on the NYC trip and interview. She dumbed down her facial expressions in order to come across as a "twelve year old" with her glazed look and the open mouth. Then we have the beauty enhanced, very communicable young lady in the airport, having absolutely no problem speaking and making herself easily understandable. It is truly amazing how different the two Mistys are. She easily adapts to the situation and put on any face she needs to play her part. Hearing her recite the 911 scenario and on the LVA, it is very easy to see that, yes, she can follow directions and carry out instructions. She has absolutely no problem with lying, either as a "twelve year old" or as a young woman.

Lonetraveler: don't forget the batting-eyelash MC, complete with Daisy-Mae peasant blouse, in the seat next to the guy with the nice car and plenty of $ for DBs pain killers.

.... more and more the clues point to TC and cousin, primarily in these tapes the fact he failed a polygraph (I didn't know that before) and the fact that he is skittish about LP administering the test. And now rumors on another thread of a possible plea deal ...

Emeral: It was posted under a Nancy Grace thread; "bombshell" possible plea deal, maybe she's heard something we haven't. I watched last night--but plea wasn't mentioned.
