2010.04.30 Casey Anthony: Friday hearing

I am still in shock and need time to digest this and watch it again on another channel.

What I got to see is either Judge Perry or a close-up of Baez - who looked dead scared and I could see a sheen of sweat on his forehead.
And Casey who didn't move and rarely blinked. And the coverage kept freezing - stuck with Baez's head.

I cheered when Perry brought up the guilty verdict and death penalty phase. If Baez had been standing up I think his knees would have buckled. Beautiful! And Wow! I really want to hear what people who were actually at the hearing have to say - please please post even the slightest observation!

Did you notice Judge Perry is like the energizing bunny the way he jiggles his chair triple time instead of JS's rocking?

Wow - how exciting was this!!!!!

ITA, Aksleuth. Seems to me it's finally hitting Inmate Anthony that she is in the fight for her life. I don't think she really took it so seriously before but now, she's got a different look about her, like a deer caught in the headlights. I sure hope reality has finally slapped her in her face. She kept her eyes affixed on Judge Perry. I saw her hugh sigh when he mention, should the defendant be found guilty of murder in the first degree, how long do you think the DP phase will take..huge sigh..Yeah, Inmate Anthony, I think you may know what the outcome might be..

Also when LDB bought up the motion on hearsay, innuendo and gossip, party photos, etc..another huge sigh..this to me shows the consciousness of guilt..JMHO

Justice for Caylee

She went from a Judge who has never imposed the Death Penalty to a Judge who has including a woman.
That should invoke a huge SIGH, a head shaking Oh No and an Oh Chit from her. IMO

Didn't get a chance to post this before but before the Judge came in Baez was showing Casey stuff on his phone...obviously don't know what it was but Mason didn't look that happy about it, Casey on the other hand seemed enthralled.

I saw it. Cell phones are not allowed in the Court room, turned on and showing pictures or whatever. Also a problem with the secret email communication stuff. CM was stunned and ticked, as he should have been.

I have to say, I've been impressed with TWO Florida judges this week, Judge LaRue in Putnam, and now Judge Perry in Orange. Super! :woohoo:

Making note not to traffic drugs or kill people in Florida.

Is anyone else listening to TruTV? Did I just hear that Jose Baez is going to be on there later today?????? :banghead:

Hm. Wonder what KC is doing later today.

George's shirt was a very bright green, probably in support of Casey. He doesn't look that well. Cindy actually looks better. I saw her all excited like a Casey groupie. It's sad when it sinks in that Casey is their daughter.

I thought it was non death penalty issues - or did I mishear?

Speaking of CM, did anyone else get the impression that he looked awfully meek sitting there today? I thought it strange that he didn't speak up once for all the bravado talk and the motion he filed to recuse JSS. He looked a little worried to me.

Also when hearing was over and KC was leaving it looked like she spat out an angry comment to JB. I need to rewatch to see if I saw what I think I did. Anyone else catch that?

mooo

I actually thought he looked rather po'd.

Perhaps it was texts he was showing her? In any event, he shouldn't be doing that, imo.

I did not notice him showing Kc his phone but I did see JB push a button on his phone while it was laying on the table while the Judge was speaking. The Judge must not have seen it or I am sure he would have said something to him. And why the heck does he need his cell phone laying on the table during court.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Casey Anthony was in the courtroom Friday morning for her first hearing in front of the new judge presiding over the murder case. Casey arrived just before the 9:30am hearing and sat down next to her attorney, Jose Baez.

I got the same impression about CM. I wonder how hard it was for that Whipper Snapper to stay seated and not jump up and interject?

Here's a game that will never make it past the defense.

Called Disorderly conduct....http://www.uncommongoods.com/item/item.jsp?itemId=14001

You Be the Judge
DISORDERLY CONDUCT

The verdict is in: this is a game that anyone fascinated by a little litigation will want to play. Answer legal questions from the 350 question cards on seven legal topics - contracts, torts, property, criminal law, constitutional law, evidence and general practice. You have to answer questions in each category to win the game, and all of the questions are supported by legal precedent. Keep things lively with Action cards - then win the case with a final general practice card. It's fun for all - no law degree required! 2 or more players.

Wait.........that is actually JB's class materials from his correspondence law school.

Yeah darnudes :)

I was wondering about that also. Is JB allowed to do that? I don't want to insult children with the comparison but it's like they knew the judge didn't want "nonsense" in the court room...so they HAVE to push it...

no, I won't insult children...children know to act better when they are told.

moo.

Baez is joining Vinnie Politan on 'In Session'.

He's just gotta get his media attention.

I stand corrected...I thought Mason was going to do all the talking today.
