Which right would you be giving up exactly? I don't understand what you're talking about... If the implication is that one can't get a fair trial without ridiculously high profile 'experts'...that's unsupportable.

Good point.

If I were to kill someone today, and I asked my public defender to get me Dr. Henry Lee to study my case, do you think they would agree :innocent:? Do I have the "right" to do that, Notsomart?

Edit: To rephrase my last question, do I have the right to claim that Im not getting a fair trial because Dr. Henry Lee was not an expert in my defense? Anyway, that is the point Im trying to make there, sorry if I didn't word it well

Not really. I believe in the fair trial system. The state has a lot of resources. The only way to make it fair is for the defense to have a lot of resources. I enjoy my rights do not wish to give them up for anyone. Anybody is welcome to write their representative and ask to have the system changed. I don't think many in this country would agree to give up their rights. Including their right to a fair trial. IMO

Not factual. Florida, like all the other states are hurting for money.

Why would this outstanding judge allow the good taxpayers of Florida to pay dr. HL, if his expert opinion on anything is automatically impeachable? Also, why haven’t all the other lawyers involved in all the cases dr. HL was involved in filed appeals in their cases? And why would this judge not allow a trace evidence expert, stating that dr. HL is imminently capable of handling the trace evidence? Evidently Judge Perry does not share the opinion that dr. HL is MUD. IMHO
Dr. Lee's reputation is quite damaged, and as Bill Sheaffer said, Dr Lee's testimony is useless if the jury learns about his credibility problem.

Will the jury find out? We'll know in 2011.

I don't quite understand why baez keeps saying they recieved 275,000 when cathy belich claims 340,000. Is the balance going to be used to bribe TES searchers?

It hasn't a thing to do with giving up rights or getting a fair trial.

Since Lee agreed to work pro bono and now is demanding pay, that only makes him dishonest, an "expert" who isn't reliable for his spoken word, but it doesn't change his testimony in the least, doesn't interfere with Casey's rights and certainly won't impede a fair trial.

And since Lee isn't reliable for his spoken word on agree to pro bono, the Jury also can't trust his word on his given testimony.

The State will make mincemeat out of him, guarantee.

I thought AL was handling all the DP stuff, including mitigation specialist stuff. And that the expenses for all that has been being paid out of her law clinic. Which is said they are way in the hole because of this case. None of the money was spent on her personal fees. Maybe travel. All of it was dealing with DP issues.

Didn't she say something along the lines of $70,000 of clinic funds, plus $25,000 from KC's funds.

Also, if the experts have completed 50% of the work, does that mean that KC has all ready paid for that part of it, and they are requesting the State to pick up the rest of the bill.....

Are they saying all these folks have been working for FREE up until now.. Including picking up all the expenses for their work?? expecting the State to eventually pick up the bill.

If Im not mistaken, JP said they will not be paid for any work done previously.

I'm sure there's something 'bout a "Budget Hearing" in this thread somewhere... :waitasec:

Enjoy posting...just consider if you should be on a different/new thread or in the Parking Lot yukin' it up 'stead of on this thread. This puppy is up to 47 pages now.

When you read the thread, you will see that over half that is dealing with the actual hearing and post interviews. Most of the rest trying to understand what was said in the hearing and verifying it against previous comments.

Long hearing. Went over ALOT of stuff.

I think he was indeed working pro bono. I saw that Ng episode. But now the state is willing to pay. Heck why not? There are many companies in this nation that will give you free just what they think is needed until you need them. Many Lawyers around here give a free half hour consultation. Some customers need to see it first. Nothing wrong with any of that in my opinion.

Hmmm, bet you don't live in Florida, huh? How would you feel if everyone on your block got free water except you? You had to pay for yours?

Why should he be willing to give it to Casey for free but charge the residents of Florida for the same product? Casey can get it for free but I, who am not the least bit involved other than by the location of my home, have to foot his bill?

nts, what is fair about that? Nothing wrong? Then how about helping me pay my taxes?
