Kaine Horman was not in court Wednesday. However, his attorney was.

That attorney told KATU they were there for "a scheduling hearing."

Nonetheless, the hearing has taken on a life of its own. With the media barred from taking in-court images, at least two sketch artists furiously drew images of the in-court scene.

I've been watching the local news sites and some were first saying Kaine was there, then wasn't..

Terri's attorney, Peter Bunch, countered that divorce proceedings are involved enough, arguing the abatement and monetary issues separately would only further complicate things.

Bunch also informed the court that the $350,000 figure quoted is inaccurate.

Judge Meisenheimer took only minutes to decide in favor of Rackner and said these issues should not be complicated for the defense to prepare for.

Wow, it only took the judge minutes to rule on this? Not good for Terri so far!

And dangit, I was really hoping to get what she actually paid. I'm tired of them saying its inaccurate! So what did she pay?

And I thought Houze was a criminal attorney, so why is he taking over the next divorce hearing?

ETA: So Terri is the defendant. Interesting barb there at the end that the issues shouldn't be complicated for the defense to prepare for. When I first read that, I swear I thought it was Judge Perry scolding Baez in the Casey Anthony case (he does that a lot these days)! I wonder if that was the judge's exact wording?

I doubt he's the type that just fills in for other attorneys if they have dental appointments.

First, Kaine wants Terri to show where she supposedly got $350,000 to hire Houze.

Second, Terri wants all the legal issues Kaine has filed against her in their divorce postponed for up to two years. Legal experts say her side is trying to keep her out of any situation that would get her under oath.

Third, they talked about the contempt of court case Kaine filed against Terri, claiming she broke a court order by showing the then sealed restraining order to friend Mike Cook.

In the end the only thing that was decided is the judge will hear arguments on the money and postponement in early October, and the contempt case will be in mid-September.

Maybe he didn't have a babysitter for baby K. And with school starting, I'm betting he's not in the best of spirits right now. I don't blame him for not showing up at this hearing. Seeing Terri is the last thing he needs right now. And I'm sure it wouldn't have been pretty with the both of them there.

Terri doesn't need a babysitter, and I'm sure she was glad to get out of her cell, I mean the house she's living in, and actually go somewhere and do something. She was probably relieved Kaine wasn't there, I'm sure.
