The aspirin has taken effect and I've read the entire thread. I'm sorry I didn't take the time to thank every poster individually! You all were fantastic!
I'm not a lawyer, but as a teacher I know from organizational skills. If Baez had taken on one or two trained people, perhaps paralegals, at the beginning of the case to read, organize, and cross-reference and index the discovery documents from the get-go, he wouldn't be in such a pickle today.
Of course, he would have had to do a lot of reading himself, but it would be purpousful and organized.
Oops! I forgot. He was doing the case on the cheap. Remember him complaining about the cost of depositions? Instead of doing the major ones first, he frittered his time on side issues. He's probably spent more time digging up dirt on everyone and hasn't had time to do some solid legal work on legitimate issues.
I worked as a teacher and never, ever missed a deadline in over 30 years. AND, I worked nights and weekends the entire time school was in session. That was just what was expected. Same is true with attorneys. Especially true for attorneys working on a death penalty case.
