Baez was never to sit first chair, CMason was to lead this pack. I think Baez is trying for ineffective counsel or he wants OUT and can't get out. HE's a waste a huge waste...

All I believe when this goes to trial, Baez will be slapped down by the expertise of this prosecution. They have more experience in their little finger than Baez has in his body. He's the useless one...

I'm thriled beyond thrilled that RK will not be used as an experiment for this prisoner to walk free. It won't happen, not in this lifetime...I remember in the beginning, CA told the police, I know where Casey's at and I don't care if she spends the rest of her life there. All I want is my Caylee back...I wonder if she still feels this way? Caylee can't come home and the prisoner surely won't either...I think she's there to stay...and Baez will seal the deal with his ineptness, his cavalier attitude, his smirks, his expensive suits....JMHO

..i don't care if he pays or not.

..i want him to get the "smackdown" that he deserves, and see him do that "neck-snap" thing that he does------and i seriously want him to work his (fancy-shmancy) pen to the point that it will no longer click.

..and i want cheney present as well, so the entire "dream-(on)-team" can all share in the sanctions.

Of course, if he cares at all about his career, he'll pay. I just don't know how much he cares about it, or how much he's really willing to risk for his career in this case. He won't be risking anything for Casey, though she'll so think that's what he's doing *eyeroll*

Ah but this whole time JB has had his eye on a 'new career'. There is no doubt in my mind, but of course this is only MHO, that JB is not planning to continue to practice law when this is over. He is attempting to position himself to become the 'legal talking head' on as many spanish language TV stations as he can. I would not be surprised if he isn't already in 'contract negotiations' with spanish language channels here in the Orlando area, or even more likely, down in the Miami/Dade area. He sees this case as his 'ticket to fame and fortune' - he does not see it as a case about a precious 2 1/2 year old child who was killed by her mother.

It truly does seem like Baez wants to be let go. Why would he continue going on and on with these shenanigans if he didn't?

IMO she won't...he has been by her side since day 31...he is one of her "boys"...he has introduced her and her case to some big names in the legal and medical professions..
I believe they see it as them against the big bad State Attorneys..

IMO Baez has not wished to let the reigns go on this case...I believe he is hanging on as tight as he can...he wants to be the one in charge of this case
IMO CM is only there because this is a DP case and a DP qualified lawyer has to be on the case...yes he is doing some work but Baez is in charge...plus Baez NEEDS the experience.

Let's remember that prior to this case, JB was a virtual invisilawyer. Nothing about him stood out, garnered attention, or demonstrated any unique skill or talent beyond passing the bar exam (albeit after more than one attempt).

The "HOW and WHEN" JB came to represent KC remains unknown. I think if we knew the definitive answer to that mystery, many more questions would be answered. I'd BET on it!

Much like the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary appeared on a piece of toast, JB became KC's counsel errrrrr attorney of record. He thrust her image, and his awkward smirk into the national media. He fed the media beast every meal like clockwork and provided snacks and table scraps too.

JB made it his goal to craft kitschy soundbites, avail himself to any network willing to fly him in, create drama and controversy, and maximize the "story value". Remember KC's use of the term "story" in her statement regarding media deals and defense funds????

TO JB, this has never been a "case"... it's been a "story". Who wants to read a "story" that is vanilla, expected, and by the book.

I believe that JB never expected the case to get this far with him at the wheel. BUT......it has and he is stuck.

I believe that after that infamous hearing where ABC was "exposed" for their checkbook journalism, that his power to negotiate high profile expert affiliation with the case was reduced significantly.

JB made the cardinal mistake of over promising and under delivering. Now...after media interest has subsided, photos are stale, and nothing really NEW is happening, he is left with little more than a giant scrub brush and the need to get all of that EGG off of his face.

Which would lead you to believe he needs to keep control for his own self interest. If he truly were concerned about KC getting the DP he would have let a qualified DP attorney handle everything and do all the leg work just to get that experience under his belt. Let the Masters take over and show him how a REAL DP attorney works. The sale of the pictures painted a whole different image of JB and he continues to travel in that same direction. Could he already be aware of a book deal in the future? It would certainly explain his attempt at grandstanding in court. jmo

Oh yes,,,it has led me to that belief...especially after the departure of T.Lennamon.

Baez and Casey ignored the limited immunity offer...and decided to take this case all the way.

This case was first scheduled to go to trial in November of 2008...

Baez argued against a Gag Order on this case
" Citing U.S. Supreme Court precedent, Baez said the gag order wasn't necessary. "It's a whole lot of hot air and not a whole lot of law," he said, adding "when push comes to shove, I'm going to err on the First Amendment every time."

When you think of JB's initial claim as to who his witnesses would be.- ALL of the State's witnesses- it doesn't come as a real surprise that his strategy will be to attack, attack, attack. There won't be any new revelations on his part, IMO, as he alluded to long ago.

The sad thing is, the outcome really doesn't matter to JB. His future is pretty well set. he is now thanks to this case a "big name TV lawyer", at least enough so to market himself as such into the Spanish speaking community of central Florida. Where his fame will score more points than his actual effectiveness or competence. The niche market he will be going for is not one that would be considered a sophisticated well informed customer base, or is one prone to follow the specifics of his prior cases. All they will care about is he has been seen alot on TV.

Once again this is a clear case where the lawyers personal interests do not coincide with the clients, and in alot of ways run at cross purposes. Taking this to trial in hope of a Hail Mary acquittal is a fools errand at best in terms of the clients best interests. Competent council would quickly point out to the client that "she is NOT OJ". Nor is she a sympathetic subject for any potential Florida jury. She is facing capital murder and probably the best she could hope for given the massive circumstantial evidence will be the possibility that they choose not to apply the Death Penalty. Yes there is a chance that she might prevail at trial, but it is sooo slim as to be outside any reasonable risks to the clients actual life. It certainly is not in the clients interest to be grandstanding in public or doing everything in their power to keep an already overwhelming case up front in the media.

JB is farming this for fame. He is in out of his head but figures the continued soft shoe and juggling act is the only hope he has for a positive outcome. if he pleas it he isn't the famous tv lawyer. If he leaves the defense team he loses his marketing hook. There is no downside to him to taking it all the way. The risk is his clients aand his clients alone. While the benefit is JB's and JB's alone.

I think you are completely spot on. Its a win-win situation for him. And the way of the world allows for it. He knows how to manipulate the system and brazenly skirt the rules without personal damage. Nor does he care what 'nobodies' like us think of him. We are not his target audience. IMO, the guy has had a lifetime of practice, just like the As and the felonious perp. He will prevail even when he loses the case.

I do not recall there ever having been any type of an immunity offer made to Casey.

Could you please provide a link on this? When did this happen? I must have missed this.

I understand your point of view...but I have to believe, at the end of this trial(or before) JB has to be disbarred. If he is not, the prestiege of being a lawyer( I do respect that vocation) would be lost for me.

Being around law for a long time, I have seen all sides of the system (Def, Pros, accused, Police, etc...) walk the preverbial line, bend some rules and manipulate. To me what he has done for the past two years is criminal. He should be a poster child for the Florida Bar on how not to conduct yourself.
