Yes, and Cindy will be able to sit closer to the front and make constant eye contact with her little girl ICA.
HHJP - :gthanks:

Oh yeah! they are changing their minds on this one. No way ICA wants to have to look at the Gallery with her Mommy watching her...let's take bets on how long before they go back to their original table with back towards the "audience."

TWA - I agree with you. However, I think it was out of respect for CM that the judge only named JB. That alone tells me exactly what JP thinks of JB as a practicing attorney in his court. However, JP gave some stiff admonitions that did include CM. He has been put on notice.

I'm not sure TotallyObsessed - I wonder if it was more about JB weaseling out of responding to this call for sanctions, when normally he won't sit down, and that he insists on always being the star, even though he doesn't have enough death penalty experience to do this trial on his own.

I think this was HHJP gently sticking it to him saying, No Mr. Baez, there will be no hiding behind CM's bluff and bluster today. You want to be a star, well, with great power comes great responsibility, so here you go Mr. Baez, and how do you like them apples? All with that sweet smile from HHJP.

Loved it!......... :skip: ........ :skip: .......... :skip:

Just based on a prior hearing when LDB quoted CM concerning deposition deadlines (deadlines don't mean anything ) IMO HHJP should have stuck it to CM,as well. He was the chosen representative today ,and as such was taking responsibility. He had absolutely nothing to back up his claims and he should know "I don't know" is not an excuse in court. JB was too much of a :loser: to defend his own actions. I think HHJP is losing any respect he has for CM,as he should. But that's just me :innocent:
PS : I had a full day yesterday and only just saw the hearing.Thank you Nums for linking the hearing and thanks to all the WSers who highlighted it so well!

The judge also had them approach the bench after the sanctions. I'm sure he made it crystal clear he would not tolerate this behavior in his court :rocker:

I agree. I have the feeling HHJP gave CM one last chance to get his ducks in a row and act better in court, probably based on CM's long career. I think he feels sorry for CM to have work with a lowlife lawyer like Baez too. However, CM shouldn't be constantly going down to Baez's level, pulling shenanigans time and again instead of vigorously defending Casey, and that is no one's fault but CM's. Sparing CM was probably HHJP's way of warning CM to not go down like Baez has. CM still has a chance to save his career, which has spanned many, many, MANY more years than Baez's has or ever will. I hope CM gets the point and shapes up, or it'll be his career that gets flushed down the toilet next. Baez is totally out of chances with HHJP. Now CM is on his very last one. I hope he takes it seriously or he will get a sanction, maybe even contempt of court against him. HHJP is through playing games here.

I mean, come on, CM, do you really want to be known as the great lawyer brought down by Jose Baez, the most laughable lawyer out there? Don't you want to finish your career with some dignity left intact? This is your chance to take a good, hard look at this case and at the team you're working with and go out on a good note instead of letting Baez drag you down into retirement. If you're smart, you'll shape up and quit all of this foolishness, which has gotten you exactly NOWHERE. Quit the Foghorn Leghorn act and do your job for once. Quit throwing your career away for the likes of Jose Baez. I'd like to believe you're so much better than Baez, but I haven't seen anything from you to prove that yet.

By the end of the next hearing,if not before !:floorlaugh:

ITA, Manatee! CM should probably have gone ahead and retired. He seems very unprofessional, IMO, when he makes certain statements that sound childish and bullyish. For example, when he was talking about the "blogger" calling him an idiot, he said that he would like to have a word with them but they didn't have the courage to face him. Really? All I could think about when I heard him say that was CM in a cowboy outfit, standing outside of a saloon calling out some "varmit" to face the music and take it like a man! Lol! And, the dig he made about getting "professional" transcript people. How rude! I'm sure the nice Florida transcriptionists are just lining up now to take down those recordings for him. He needs to zip his lip and sit this one out. JMO, of course.

I was very happy to see HHJP pick that one up, give him "the look" and smack it right back in his face. He was NOT happy about that remark at all.

You might want to call a real cowboy like say, LP
lennyshoting.gif
to cow tie him for that face to face meeting.

Would like to be a fly on the wall when JB barks at Cheney "you owe me half of the sanction fees" and Cheney replies "sorry can't hear you" "you're on your own with this one" or "court order has your name on it, not mine". Take your pick which one Cheney says.

What about the last motion re Casey's interview with the police and not being read her rights. She was not under arrest lunkhead and she called the police and they asked her if she would be willing to show them the places she was talking about.

BUT ABOVE ALL THAT, the State DID NOT have a copy of the motion. Cheney's response; what with the holidays I just finished it and the State will be getting it shortly. Perry hands Burdick the motion and her response I don't think we should be looking at this motion until the Court has decided upon what sanctions will be taken regarding the lack of production on the defense's part.

Judge Perry then said he has heard there are civil lawyers trying to make money by suing defense lawyers. Deadlines mean deadlines. I don't want to try this case a second time, BUT I WILL IF I HAVE TO.

I believe the word Casey is looking for is 'GULP'.

I would like to have been a fly on the wall after the hearing. I bet they loathe each other.
They didn't strut out to taunt Kathi Belich this time though, they skulked out with their tails between their legs...

Regarding the BBM -> I'm guessing that's his shtick. Why else would Orlando attorneys have given him that nickname...

Fairly reasonable per hourly fee. Do you suppose Baez will be contesting this?

He better not. $83 a hour is a steal.

If I were JB (thank God I'm not) I would zip it and take it like a man and just pay the sanction. But I'm sure he will fight it. Because he just doesn't know when to stop.
