I know this is not a popular position however, as I see it, JB is rude and disrespectful in open court, yet he is hopefully reprimanded privately?? Was he actually reprimanded? IMO he should be reprimanded in open court and made to apologize to LDB in open court. I still see JP coddling JB and the defense team. Leading them by the hand. Geessch!

I see HHJP as the consummate professional that refrains from calling out any one offender in public. Hence his policy of mostly giving out warnings or reprimands as a blanket statement. I believe, since he IS such a professional and has such respect for the court, that he takes great pains to reprimand individually at sidebar, or in chambers.

Sometimes I wish he wasn't such a pro and would just rip Baez and Cheney a new one, but I believe he prefers to lead by example. God love him.

there was one time you were a participant? in being involved in something the dog was actually analyzing. You cut yourself and put it on a cloth.

Yes.

You put it out there for the dogs to either find or not find.

That is correct.

you read what other people have written. you have read the work that other people have done. you are an observer, but as it relates to the research of cadaver dogs you are a reader.

Huge BURN!!! moment there :great:

Cadaver dogs are trained to specifically find the odor of decomposing *human* remains.

Cadaver dogs are trained to ignore live human scent and animal scent, and only indicate on human remains. These dogs can be used to find human remains related to crime scenes, missing persons cases and forensic evidence related to decomposing human remains.
Cadaster

Cadaver dogs that have special training in the context of disaster scenes and debris (cadaster dogs) can also be used to locate human remains following a natural or manmade disaster. Illinois Search Dogs routinely cross-trains their cadaver dogs to be operational as cadaster dogs as well, to compliment our disaster dog teams.
Water

A specialty subset of cadaver dogs is water cadaver dogs. Similar to cadaver dogs, these dogs have been trained to find the odor of decomposing human remains. However, water cadaver dogs have been specifically trained to locate and indicate the source of the odor to assist divers in a more directed and speedy recovery of a drowning victim.

LBD is absolutely destroying this guy as a expert...she got him to say he is only a reader on per-review records, and only an observer in about 10 to 20 dogs in various situations. Basically he is no better than you or I if we knew someone with dogs to go watch.

  • #567
He's watched the dogs operate somewhere between 10 and 20 times? And this makes him sufficient to testify to this in court? WOW! Given that standard I am probably a better expert than this dude. (and please note I am NOT saying I am a qualified expert. Far from it.)

  • #568
DrF says based on his "anecdotal experience" dogs can detect decomp about 10 min after contamination.

LDB is absolutely my hero today.

  • #569
can anyone hear that?

oh, it's just the sound of LDB chewing this witness up before she spits him out.

  • #570
Ouch!!!! LDB is destroying him ... I think she did her homework BTW JB....

  • #571
observer
reader

Yes indeed, that is his only expertise....:floorlaugh:

JB has got to be feeling pretty  green around the gills about now.

"So you're telling the court your anecdotal experience. Do you know what the RESEARCH says?"

Nice try, Jose. Ain't gonna fly, IMO.

  • #573
JB: Object

JP: Overruled

  • #574
Watches shreds of his "expertise" go flying in the Florida trade winds ....

  • #575
OMG....this is a clinic in how to destroy an arrogant witness!! :floorlaugh:

  • #576
That was good. He tries to act like he knows something, and she shoots him down.
lmao

  • #577
She is dissecting him point by point...she is awesome!

  • #578
how long can the scent of a deceased person permeate the air? do you have any knowledge about that?

NO.

In fact, when you were asked about the odor and its "stayability" do you remember what you said?

(transcript to remind witness)

Jose objects, says "there is no inconsistent statement"

Judge says, "lets get to the page and see"

:)

  • #579
I think we have a female Bugliosi lol

  • #580
JB: "Object to improper impeachment."
HHJP: "Overruled"
