I am wondering if they are going to argue that kc had a "disorganized attachment" with her parents since infancy . . . wherein she was forced to be in the parental role and make adult decisions for herself without having appropriate role modeling by her parents. There are studies (replicatable and reliable research) which shows it can impact the higher functioning portions of the brain, as the child stays in a "fight/flight or freeze" mental state consistently as they can never anticipate their environment or their primary care provider's consistency. Inconsistency is the norm and it is very confusing for a young child.
