No I don't think so. She has to go with what she said before even if she knows now that it was human decomp.
She can't change her story or JB will have a field day with her.

Precisely! She has to stick to her earlier story. She is saying AT THE TIME she didn't think it was decomp. Every word of what she says is important.

I think it's good that CA didn't think it was decomp odor because that helps explain why she told GA to go back to work and why they didn't call the cops. I think at that point the idea of Caylee having died in the trunk was so far out of the realm of something she could consciously consider without losing her mind that she shielded herself from that possibility. :cow:

Also explains the time lag from LE taking possession of the car. Very good.

At one point in my life everything was spinning out of my control except for work. I spent every moment possible at work to escape everything else. I've always thought that's why Cindy got whiff of that car and fled back to work.

The way CA walked in a took a purposeful look at ICA made me convinced that she heard about ICA's fit on Saturday.

I'm enjoying Bill Sheaffer's commentary in the recesses on WFTV. Very helpful.

  • #506
I'm not worried about CA testifying this way about the smell...subconsciously, then and now, she didn't want to believe the worst. Any parent/grandparent would wish the worst thoughts away.

  • #507
Does anyone have a link to ICA's outburst on Saturday? TIA

  • #508
WFTV said that if CA admits to smelling decomp she can be impeached because she previously testified (when protecting ICA) that she did not and that it was not the smell of decomp.

  • #509
Bill S. saying CA is "married" to the statements she made while in her "protective" mode and cannot now change them on the stand.

  • #510
I love how LDB is SLOWLY and METHODICALLY questioning CA.

You just know JB is ready to gnaw off an arm to get up there and cross.

"At that point" I did not (when asked if she thought something had died in the car or that's what the smell was).

I still have hope.

IMO CA will be honest. But at that time I am certain in her mind she was not believing a dead body was in her daughter's trunk or car let alone her baby grand daughter Caylee. In as much she is angry and betrayed by ICA she certainly doesn't want her to get the death penalty. IMHO all of the A's, Lee, George and Cindy do want the truth what ever it may be. I believe that in my heart.

wftv is saying that Cindy can't say the car smelled like a dead body, because it would contradict her earlier testimony. Are they talking about her deposition?
Yes the depo. She has to stick to the same story but she gave the state a little when she said that about what died in there. She had not said that before and did not have to now,.

That recess happened due to technical difficulties. The photo of the car got published to the jury before it was approved to be. Jury spoke up and told judge, then it happened again, so took recess.

(Interesting that when His Honor addresses the jury, I hear a female voice responding. I wonder if we are going to have a female foreperson.)

What is with the clutching of wrists? I don't get it... makes me crazy. I so want to slap KC into another dimension.

She's trying to control herself since she can't control anything else.

  • #516
She's minimizing the intensity of the smell - basically lying

I don't think she is. I think she is telling the truth - you don't go on about your day/events if you really think it was an actual dead body. The trash explanation would make you more comfortable and be easy to latch on to. The most horrific of possibilities would not be a natural thing to accept.

Cindy is not an expert on death smell though. And she didn`t say that it did not smell like death (or did I miss something?), just that it smelled real bad. A natural reaction would be to clean up the smell.

"Why is she crying now?" Casey said in the jailhouse visit, with amusement and curiosity, is taking on new meaning for me. Casey doesn't feel for others and is puzzled when others do. Wowsa.

I'm looking forward to seeing her reaction (or lack of) when they play the 911 call where she talks to the cops and is so cold. And the jail visits. The whole concept of her being so traumatised that she's emotionally disconnected might have worked if she didn't turn on the waterworks from time to time (when it's about her and not her dead daughter or distraught mom).

I do agree with the DT about where this family's priorities are. Seriously, George wastes no time calling the Police about his gas cans, rather than calling ICA first (who had stolen gas before), yet, when the car smells like a dead body, they decide to go about their normal business and then give ICA the benefit of the doubt to explain it? WTF?

I do believe ICA is guilty, but, my goodness this family is a circus.

we are back on......views of car..back and front..CA testified she had taken items from the car, so that explains why the pics we saw on Sat showed a car that was not "messy" as stated by the manager at amscot, and George....pictures were taken after CA did her magic or attempt to clean up the car..
