Direct examination of Dr. Arpad Vass by JA - continued

Back to analysis of the items he was sent - he was assisted by others at Oakridge, Dr. Marcus Wise and Dr. Martin.

Dr. Wise - lab where instrumentation for analysis was his. He is in charge of the instruments. He is an analytical chemist. A gas chromatograph mass spectrometer was used to analyze these items.

First analysis of carpet sample was an injection of 8/10's mil of headspace of can.

JB objection - overruled.

The can lid was cracked, syringe inserted, 8/10's of mil removed with syringe and put in GCNS by Dr. Wise. No chryo trapping was used here. (Head space = volume of air in can)

JB objected -

Initial evaluation of unconcentrated air sample -

Dr. Wise shared results - we looked @ GCMS - asking for a site (?)

Beth K. on IS...oh my. She said, say what you like about JB, he knows his forensics and that he basically neutralized the witness on Saturday about the hair evidence...lol...

I keep that station on because the sound is better-but I may have to stop, Beth Karas does such a disservice to the viewers by her pro defense position, it influences everything she says. What science does JB understand?. Please :banghead:

Dr. Vass explaining samples done on can when first arrived, and in layman terms explained what head space is (air around item in can) I <3 me some Dr. Vass....such a good witness, precise and understandable for the jury!

I can't with JB, I can't. I just cannot. How are we supposed to follow Dr. Vass if he keeps interrupting!? Is that what he's trying to do? Just be quiet and then grill the man during cross-examination if you are so inclined! Makes me want to.. grr!

He is making the evidence mean more to the jury by objecting every other question, and sidebar after sidebar. If I were on the jury, I would be wondering why the defense is apt to not allow this testimony.
