I love how they try to make it seem like having to bug someone's conversations because they are not being forthcoming with info is a bad thing that the police did. To me, it points out how bad it is that a family would not offer ALL of the info they have when it comes to a missing child.

Ok, so let's say that there was an accidental drowning, and the family covered it up. Wouldn't they still be the only focus of the investigation (as in, it's almost if they're trying to argue that there was a cover up but LE didn't fall for it.)
