2025 Hurricane and Tropical Weather

We have been getting rain from Chantal in central NC, west of Raleigh. Expecting more rain today and tonight.
Very heavy rain for the past 45 minutes along with a tornado warning, which is about to expire.

I did ok during Chantal. Gusty wind and heavy rain. Flood alerts are out in the area, especially along the Cape Fear River.

We are continuing to get very heavy rain. It's so noisy on our skylights that it's hard to hear each other! We're also getting loud, booming thunder and lightning. Power flickered at one point but didn't go out. Hey, Chantal: Enough already! Go away!

Our internet is out but don’t know why. Hope they get it fixed soon.

The river closest to us (Haw) reached its second highest flood stage but no flooding in our area. In Chapel Hill and Durham, Chantal dumped so much rain that there has been bad flooding. Evacuations, water rescues, and a shopping center had businesses damaged.

Happy to hear you’re all ok. The girls in Wilmington NC (Jessie & Jen that I made quilts for) are ok.

Now that flooding is getting more exposure, press, known catastrophes and so many heartbreaking deaths, I wonder if flood insurance policies have increased.

:( good luck getting them. I worry insurers will make it so high in cost, not offer coverage, deny coverage, or deem it uninsurable.

Just seen this.

I hope all that Saharan dust gets dispersed because we’ve had enough of it already. Erin needs to go be a fish spinner in the middle of nowhere.

I've been keeping a close eye on this storm. I live at the southeast coast. Erin is going to be major. Here's hoping it goes north and misses the NC coast.
