I still stand by DW could have been Car 3. Being car 3 doesn't mean that he had anything to do with her disappearance, it doesn't mean his story as told isn't less true, and it doesn't mean there was a voluntary disappearance.
11:24 leaves gas station, assumes she's behind him. Estimated travel time 12-14 minutes.
11:37- 13 minutes later- gets to Dublins- whether he was already there or not is unknown- to retrieve phone. He could have realized at any point along the way she was not behind him. The text confirming the Dublins at 11:37 was in response to the question of "what time did he get to Ollies". It looks suspicious because it makes it look like he didn't go to Ollie's at all if the response was he was at Dublins at 11:37. I assume it's because that was a hard-fast fact that could be confirmed via phone records. Alleged that DW waited about 20 minutes at Dublins before heading to Ollies, getting there around midnight. Unknown whether 20 minutes waited was from the time he got there or time he retrieved the phone.
11:57- Using the 20 minutes from the time he got to Dublins, includes retrieval of phone- heads to Ollies. I'd think probably he would have waited until Dublins closed at 12 honestly and then headed to Ollies thinking the wires were crossed. Estimated travel time at that time per Google maps is 7 minutes.
12:04/12:07- Arrives at Ollies. Hangs out for a while. Unknown what time he left.
1:00 AM- returns rental car and goes home.
I think the Shell station cluster could be- he pulled in and she couldn't find her phone. Offered to go look for it, realizes before actually leaving- hey this is a closed gas station with poor lighting off of the main highway- maybe I should wait while she looks. Seems odd it would take that long to look for a phone in a new car that probably had little to no clutter in it and confusing as to why he wouldn't have just called the phone to determine whether it was in the car- or maybe he did. Maybe they were trying to get RC/MK to go look before he went all the way back. There's a lot of reasons- whether they make sense to us or not- it took that long.
The drug theory has hung around because there was evidence of her using marijuana over the years and there are some indications that TT was also at some point a user/dealer. Whether she did anything harder than marijuana or not is unknown, but it doesn't change the fact that it's still illegal here. It doesn't change that there have been numerous drug busts/raids over the last several months, so dealers/users are likely more careful. It has hung around because the timeline as told felt questionable. I think most people felt like DNV/DW had a plan- whatever it may have been- and that he was not just driving along completely clueless to the fact that she was behind him. It has hung around because the state of the GPS was questioned- there doesn't seem to be any confirmation as to what happened to it. Did it malfunction? Did it get disconnected? Was it manually, intentionally powered down? Onstar can track cars regardless of a subscription, but if the dealership was the one that tracked the car did they use OnStar or did they use an aftermarket GPS?
Day 11: Mobile mom still missing, few answers .."no GPS, ti was turned off. No pings."
Candlelight vigil for missing Mobile mom "the company where Vian purchased her car confirms the car's gps pinged at the Dublin and then at the Shell gas station.."
Also, based on this article, I'm not sure that OnStar would have been able to release location information to the dealership for privacy reasons since they are not the registered owner and/or LE.
OnStar Tracks Your Car Even When You Cancel Service They state that they can maintain the connection post-service cancellation, UNLESS, the customer says otherwise. If it were OnStar, could it have been maintained up to the point that Vian purchased the car and at that point cancelled because the dealership had their own way to locate vehicles? If it was a dealership GPS- what triggers a ping? I still have this feeling that the ping is triggered by some event and I keep leaning towards the car being started. If the ping occurs upon ignition then, IMO, it only serves in support of the DW story/timeline. Car pinged when she started the car at Dublins, pulls into the Shell and out of habit or just because, turns the car off. Car pings again when she starts it to leave at the gas station. They head towards Dublins- depending on the route, there are plenty of red lights in which something could have happened.
Again- did she tell him she needed gas or needed to swing back by her apartment before heading to Ollies? Is there a reason he would have expected her to be longer getting to Dublins? It would be helpful to know what time the car pinged at the Shell- was it when she first got there or just at some point during the duration of the stop?
