To add to that, OnStar is controlled by a fuse to the left of the steering wheel. So, if it were the OnStar location info that was disabled, that fuse was removed.

I'm on the side of the fence that says Car 3 is responsible for Danni's disappearance, disabling the GPS and the theft of her car. I strongly suspect that she was followed from the Dublin to the Shell station.

If she had not forgotten her phone at the Dublin, I think there's a good chance that there would be no investigation and that the assumption would be that she chose to leave Mobile in her shiny new car.

Per the ONStar pages of her manual, that fuse is part of the Infotainment System and the fuse for that is pictured in this page of her owner’s manual.

Update for anyone who wants to send/twitter out a graphic on Oct 12, the day before the vigil. There is a graphic that I'm finalizing. I will share it closer to the vigil so we can blanket media and anyone else with a reminder of Danni's disappearance.

I’m on board! Hopefully it’ll get some well deserved attention. DV deserves it!!

Please, why don't you just ask what jail he was in? That would really clear up a whole lot here and we could move on possibly being more productive.

Arrested 6/6/18 in Mobile County, AL.

After his release, he was in rehab and has only been home from rehab for about 2-2.5 weeks.

Thank you @cedgison That at least eliminates him as a suspect in my book.

OnStar stated they can continue to track the vehicle unless a customer requests otherwise, they even say to call them for instructions on disabling it.

If she had not activated OnStar and the previous owner had requested the discontinuance of the location services would that transfer over?

There does not have to be a subscription to track the car using GPS. It transmits regardless of what the owner does except if it is disabled.

Can you confirm if he was in jail or rehab on July 17? I only ask as rehab is typically 30 days. Unless you are in a facility you or insurance pays for but I do not get the impression this would be TT’s situation. It is not a lot of folks situation so no judgment. Basically he would have to be Demi Lovato to get a longer term. No judgement on Ms. Lovato either as I hope she is going well and getting her life in order.

I understand that OnStar can track your location regardless of whether you are subscribed or not. What I am saying is: Per ONSTAR you can opt out of the two way communication and location services by calling the 888 number and request the two-way connection be turned off. This is a separate request and process from simply cancelling your service.

ETA: If a customer has requested to discontinue ALL communications between OnStar and their vehicle- subscribed or not. Wouldn't OnStar have to basically reconnect to the car in order to regain that visibility? If so, when does the visibility begin? Does it start upon the reconnection of the two-way communication link? This change was made when OnStar changed their privacy statement to say they could continue to monitor vehicles post-termination of service. People FREAKED out about it.

My understanding (from what I've read in her owner's manual, on OnStar's website & in 15.2 posted above) is that the only way to get that communication (the location part) to completely stop is to remove the fuse. I also Googled and that seems to be what a lot of people are doing.

Yes! And as long as it’s the original fuse and not a replacement it’s even labeled “OnStar” right on the fuse

OT; just an idle curiousity but every car made since 2014 has a similar "black box" type thing from the manufacturer. Are people disabling them in all their vehicles or are people not aware that all cars now have them?

I think most people are not aware of them. I will look up how they are disabled. I wonder if they are hidden or easily accessed. I know that caused controversy with privacy advocates.

Almost all are built into the airbags or standardized restraint systems. Trying to remove it would deploy your airbags. From what I have read is they are very difficult almost impossible to remove. So surely a mechanic would have to be involved and since it is illegal in most jurisdictions it would have to be a shady mechanic!

This is in reference to the black box in vehicles!

I can't find the original missing person report where Danni's birthday is mentioned - does anyone have a link handy? What are thoughts about putting together some information that we can push out on that day?
In my notes I have DNV's Date of Birth as being:
3-8-93 ....

But I do not have the resource from where I got that information... And I do not remember...:(
