Oh wow that is severe damage

Great screen grabs. I'm wondering if this could have happened while pulling the car out of the water or when it went into the water, maybe hitting a pole or something along to edge of the boat ramp?? After watching the video repeatedly and seeing these screen shots, I don't think I'm putting much stock into these dents having a whole lot to do with the crime or being of huge significance. I am still very curious about the back window being down though

I think you were onto something. The deep dents are almost perpendicular. It is hard to imagine something causing that except a purposeful hit. A car hitting it would dent the whole wheel shaft, wouldn't it?

Another thought: Unless they attached hooks to the car to pull it out and it dented those deep dents above the wheel well? LE made a big deal about taking pictures of the car before moving it so maybe they wanted to show it wasn't dented before they did what they had to do to gently lift/pull the car out of the water?

Cassie Fambro - NBC 15 She verifies in the comment that damage is from MPD (during recovery)

Oh wow cool, I am SO glad we are able to put that to bed so quickly!! Usually we have to go on and on and on about stuff like this lol

No worries the pictures came from Cassie Fambro - NBC 15 on Facebook from a regular cell phone camera.

the window being down could have been done purposely to allow air to escape the car when it was driven into the bayou. If the window was closed the air bubble inside would have allowed the car to float somewhat. I agree I think the damage could have come from hitting something in the park maybe. The damage is minor but significant to the case I think.

Whew. I am surprised she was allowed to say it though.

Have they removed the body from the car yet? Or do they wait until they tow it somewhere to process. It’s surreal to think Daniellas inside that car right now.

I’m a mix of sad, shock, and glad. It’s a weird feeling.

I'm thinking they were all standing there when the car was taken away and one of the journalists said something like woah look at that damage and a cop or someone was like oh that's from taking the car out of the water. Probably just a convo between a couple of people, not like during an interview. Am I making any sense?? I'm taking a break for a couple hours, be back later. Love reading everyone's input and ideas and theories and I'm just going to say it- I'm happy today. I know that's a horrible thing to say but the not knowing anything at all is just awful. I pessimistically had zero hope at all that she was still alive and was just so upset that her body wasn't ever going to be found. When this all first happened I was 100% sure she had decided to leave, first night in a brand new car, but it had been too long and my feelings changed and I knew she couldn't do that to her baby.
As I said earlier this way DNV gets peace and there is finally momentum again in her case!!! It makes me ill to think of her under water there for so long and like I read on twitter someone said they can't even imagine the number of times they've literally driven over her not knowing. SO heartbreaking

I don't know what cars look like when they have been submerged in a lake or bayou for 9 months, but except for those dents, DNV's vehicle looked pretty good, imo.

The person at the scene was a friend of Danniella's MIL, not Danniella herself. If you go back to the video in the beginning the person is crying and saying she is a friend of Julie and they just told Julie (Danniella's ex's mother).

Things are coming into focus for me.

There will be an arrest soon IMHO. There was another missing woman in Mobile where they had a suspect, but no body recently. They found her body in a burned out car and then two days later there was an arrest.

I think they have known who did this to Daniella since the video at the gas station was pulled off the Internet. This police chief likes to operate in stealth mode.

One of the reporters showed a video of the ME truck driving away with an ambulance and said the body has been taken to the medical examiner and the car is being taken to a secure sterile area to inspect further. I don't have a link but I took that to mean they did already remove the body and it was in the ambulance that drove by.

I know what you mean. We are not happy that this happened but we're happy we can finally start to get justice for Danniella and get closure for her daughter and friends. They will have a grave or a place for a memorial.

Anybody know if she'll be too decomposed to determine if she died from drowning?

Ehh the windows and side paneling on the car look pretty waterlogged. Especially the windows. They’re all foggy and the paint on the car looks pretty dull. I think it’s been there since July
ETA look through the back window that’s down. You can really see how dirty the front passenger side window is. It’s completely opaque and the sides of the car almost look like someone took a sander to them to dull the paint down

Thanks, it does look pretty dull. I guess it would have to be submerged for a pretty long time for corrosion, etc. to take effect.

I'm wondering if it can be determined if she died from strangulation. I guess a bullet wound would be pretty easy to identify. I just can't bring myself to Google this. We need an expert for answers.

There are a lot of different things to consider when it comes to water decomposition.
  • "If a body is left submerged in water the rate of decomposition will typically be much slower due to the low temperatures and levels of oxygen..." Decomposition – The Forensics Library
  • Decomposition is slower overall in water than in the air, but the rate in the water also depends on what type and temperature of water it is. Decomp is faster in warm, freshwater than it is cold, saltwater, and it's also faster in stagnant water than it is running water. Skeletonisation can also happen in just a few days depending on predatory marine life: fish, crabs, etc. Putrefaction | Forensic Pathology Online

If she's skeletal it'd be very hard because there wouldn't be ligature marks, bruising, hemorrhaging etc. that could be examined. If a bone in the neck was broken they might could tell from that, but I'd imagine it'd be difficult to ascertain whether it was from strangulation or the impact of the car hitting the water, etc. That's just if she's skeletal though. If there's a decent amount of tissue there's a much higher possibility that they'll be able to determine COD. I've seen many a case where COD was not able to be determined due to time in the water, though.
