Is the County even involved or is it just MPD?
Just MPD so far. No outside forces such as Sheriff, FBI or Alabama Bureau of Investigation. It would be easy for this case to just be swept under the rug by the Chief. He is giving the case no oxygen via news to the press, family doesn't have means to hire outside professionals to search and so far as I can tell has not threatened to sue the City for negligence in the search for their daughter/in law. I'm surprised some enterprising atty hasn't knocked on the door of grieving family and offered to represent them in an action against the police. I hope I'm proven wrong but so far the handling of this case is about as poor and ineffective as they come even in small places like Mobile.

I don't understand what the Police Chief meant when he said that this case is not an ordinary missing case?
We don't know but my guess is that there is a bigger story here most likely tied to drugs or organized car theft that is impt to the Chief. He didn't seem at all interested in finding DV but I think his eye is on nailing a larger crime or maybe its worse than any of this in that maybe he wants to protect someone prominent in the community and is willing to shortchange the search for DV to accomplish this. There has to be a reason for LE not sharing info and not really engaging the public in a search. When the decision was made to strong arm the local TV channel into pulling the tape footage off the air to me that was a huge sign of coverup and protection. We just don't know who or what yet and maybe we will never know. I wonder where we would be today if the TV station had the courage of its convinctions to say they wouldn't pull the tape and left it up for the family and community to view? DV might have been located weeks ago.

As someone pointed out up thread, you usually get a free trial when you buy a car. But I’ve never had OnStar, so I don’t know if you still have to provide a credit card for them to charge when the trial is over.

I realize her car model come comes with OnStar capabilities. But do we know the “disabled GPS” was for sure the OnStar? If Danniella doesn’t have a credit card and operates as all cash, she wouldn’t have a card for OnStar to eventually charge.

On the other hand, the dealer she used was a buy-here-pay-here lot—and they often put GPS on to track their cars until their paid off.

The big difference IMO is anyone turning on the car would know if there was On Star to disable. But you’d have to have more car specific knowledge to look for a different type of GPS tracking device.
Here is link to 2014 Chevy Cruze navigation options. https://my.chevrolet.com/learn/navigation. There appears to be two systems OnStar and MyLink. What was in the DV car is a function of trim level. I don't think we know which trim package she had in her car. OnStar is a purchased/subscription option which I am not sure how she would participate in without a credit card for payment. MyLink is part of a screen based entertainment system that is availabe on some trim packages.

Here is an interesting article on LE ability to get information from OnStar and other services: Law Enforcement Has Been Using OnStar, SiriusXM, To Eavesdrop, Track Car Locations For More Than 15 Years

Based on this article it appears that with a warrant that LE can approach OnStar to have them activate Stolen vehicle recovery mode and this could be possible even if the service isn't active so long as the fuse has not been disabled/tampered with. So, I am not sure how much stock I place in the statement that the last 'ping' was at the gas station unless the OnStar was deactivated via removing the fuse - maybe this is what took the people at the station the 15 min to figure out how to do?

I also am suspicious that the process of looking for the phone might have deactivated the system as if you look at the steps to remove the fuse its not likely looking for a phone would put you near the area where the fuse is located.

Deactivating OnStar is possible but looks like it would take a little bit of time: How to Deactivate Onstar and know how. What was interesting though is that to completely disable the service the fuse has to be removed. So, if the fuse were not removed then it would have been possible for LE to track the car OnStar with a warrant.
  • The system is not completely disabled at this point (calling up to discontinue service), however. OnStar can continue to collect data from your vehicle for its own purposes.[2] If you want to deactivate the OnStar system's ability to collect data, you will need to remove the system fuse or disconnect the system completely.
So, even if DV didn't have OnStar paid for it is likely that LE could have located the car with the system so long as the fuse were still in place. My guess is that LE knows where the car is unless the fuse were pulled.

Here is the cached version of the live report from the Shell gas station by the Station that agreed to pull the CCTV footage.

http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...ther+&cd=19&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=safari

What was interesting in this version was that the reporter states that DV left the station alone and in her car. Previous theories had considered that DV possibly had left in another car. According to the car dealer they were not able to 'ping' the GPS beyond the Shell Station. We don't know if LE was able to track the GPS signal beyond the Shell Station. We don't know the order that the 3 cars left the station. We don't know in which direction DV turned coming out of the Shell Station.

This might be answered by the time I get to the end, I am only on page 2... but which car left the gas station first? The friends? or hers? and whose was the third car that pulled in to the gas station...? Completely unrelated or no?

Where did the friend go after they left the gas station? To Dublins? To their next location? ... Where?

Something sounds hinky about the flashing of the car headlights, the lost cellphone and the timing of all the cars at the gas station. I can’t put my finger on it, but I hope the friend really is/was her friend. I sure hope they find her soon.

That's where I am at right now.

Do we have a FB page for Daniella?

JT reports Papa Johns is going to put her flyer on each pizza that goes out in the area. I wonder why LE is being so tight lipped? Pulled down the video but then no PC or announcement?

Good. I wonder what other businesses we can target with this kind of thing?

I'm going to call in the big guns: @JoJoJo @AnaPisces @imstilla.grandma we have a 24 year old mom missing into thin air in Mobile, AL. Mobile woman missing for 43 days now, fundraising events planned to help family

Her daughter's grandma has been posting flyers and trying to get the story out for months. Here's her FB and her mother-in-law's FB (that is serving as a missing persons station for now):

Danniella: Danniella Vian

JDT: https://www.facebook.com/julie.thomas.372

Reached out to JDT on Facebook and she has no update and has rec'd no information from LE. Doesn't know why the male missing person was with hasn't come forward to speak with media or why he didn't follow up with missing person directly to return the phone. Also doesn't know why there has been no call to the FBI. Not sure there is anything here to work with? Ideas anyone?

BBM.

This says more to me than anything.

Indeed JoJoJo. Very sad. Where is the sense of urgency? I wish her Mom would speak out again. She could provide valuable insight into DV’s normal behavior and plead for the public’s help.

Has her mom ever spoken out?

Oh my goodness what an unusual case I really hope this young lady is safe and well . I may be shot down in flames for this. I have only seen a couple of posts infer that she may be missing voluntarily.

I have to say the first thing that crossed my mind was the three things that could track the location of a person.
  • Mobile Phone (Left behind mislaid )
  • Car GPS (Disabled at some time after shell)
  • No Credit Card ( Deals in cash only)
I am not sure if I can post the following so please remove if inappropriate.

I have seen mention of Dauphin Street on FB which was reported as the cars last GPS ping near the shipping containers.

I must admit if I wanted to vanish the last thing I would take with me is my mobile or anything that could electronically track my where abouts.

I also notice the PD missing report refers to a 2017 Car not 2014 which one is correct? Not that I know what difference it makes other than value of said car.

I sincerely hope she is ok.

I have always been skeptical that someone would take th time at the gas station to pull the fuse—especially since it may involve getting out of the car and opening the hood—in the bright lights of a location that has lots of people coming and going and probably has a video camera. It would make more sense for someone to drive off to a nearby dark location to do it.

But then, how do you keep the victim in the car and quiet while you do it? Is a gun enough of a threat if you have a chance to escape?

I’d love to know if she ever left the car alone to go inside at the station. Because nothing makes sense here.

I don’t think I’ve seen media reports with her mother, but she has been somewhat active in SM. DV was estranged from her though. So it’s been the MIL driving most of the effort.

There is a group page for DV on FB but it’s not an official “Find DV” family page. They spelled her first name with only one N.

Yes, the Mom did an interview via phone with one of the Mobile TV stations from her home in NC.

Interesting. This is the first reference to 2017 that I've seen as other references from family and MSM have said 2014. Not sure which to believe. I'd like to think LE checked with Pearl Motors and had the VIN number etc. to confirm the model year of the car but this case seems to have been handled in a slipshod manner so I'm not sure who to believe?!

The fuse box is typically located near the steering column and isn't hard to reach at all. Interior Fuse Box Location: 2011-2016 Chevrolet Cruze 2011 Chevrolet Cruze LT 1.4L 4 Cyl. Turbo

This is for a different model year but it clearly explains how easy it is to replace the fuses. If someone knows what they are doing it can be done in a couple of minutes.

Your right nothing makes sense she must of known the area to be able to flash her friend to pull over into the shell garage in time for him not to miss the turning or the ramp - not sure what you call it in USA.

If the friend was flashed by DV and was in front she was following the friend so car number 1 onto the forecourt was the friends because he was leading the way car number 2 was Danniella's, Car number 3. I did find the remnants of an NBC 15 Twitter Tweet with a still
