As a picture of the woman been released to the public yet? I know they have only lived there 1 month, but people have to buy groceries gas. If someone doesn't recognize him, they may recognize her.

Who's name is on the lease agreement? I am sure that was 1 things checked. Car registration?

Alabama AMBER Alert expanded for 3-year-old Birmingham girl
UPDATE, Monday, 10:30 a.m.
Birmingham Police Chief Patrick Smith on Monday said the Amber Alert for 3-year-old Kamille "Cupcake" McKinney has been expanded to surrounding states.

"We want to make sure that her picture, her face, is out there in the media so that everyone, even in the surrounding states, knows who she is," Smith said.

Smith said there are two persons of interest in custody, but he said they have no information about Cupcake's whereabouts. The pair in custody was found in Center Point, along with an SUV sought in the investigation.

IMO based on what was said in the presser, particularly that the couple ARE answering questions and that they do think that there are others involved, it seems like it is alluding to that they were just middlemen in a larger operation.

There's also been no indication of arrests and wouldn't they have changed their language from POI to suspects by now (especially in the presser) if they thought that was the case? I know that's a small detail, but just sayin' as that seems to be the norm in other cases but maybe I'm overthinking it.

Questions - chief answering:

• delay in Amber Alert wasn't due to police, it was a delay in reporting, a little bit of a delay as family/attendees of birthday party were searching on their own and thought they could find her
• Can't give information on the time lag of how long between reporting and missing
• Again, no idea where she is at this point. Remain hopeful she is still out there and alive and they will return her to her family.

People on other sites were angry at law enforcement for not getting the Amber Alert out quickly enough. Some said it should have gone out as soon as she went missing. Well now you see why these don’t happen ASAP. The mom and people at the party knew she was taken by a stranger. Yes they should have been looking around but a call to police should have been made immediately. It wasn’t like she just vanished. Then I could see them looking around. So many people blame Amber Alert but it’s not something that goes off the very second a child goes missing. It takes time. It’s just a tool in helping put the word out.

I’m thinking the delay in the amber alert was because there were no adults actually out there when the child was taken. By the time the children told the adults what happened, the adults probably started looking around the complex before alerting police. JMO

Believe it or not, sometimes the older children are the ones left looking out for the younger ones, even if they are only a few years older! We have an annual carnival at school, and you would not believe the groups of kids that show up with NO adult supervision. Granted, we are a very small town and always try to look out for one another, BUT predators are everywhere unfortunately. MOO

UPDATE: Pictures sent in by a resident at the Woodside Apartments in Centerpoint, of Birmingham Police taking two people of interest into custody. 3-year-old Kamille McKinney has still not been found.

I'm not local, but about 55 miles away from where this kidnapping occurred. We received Amber Alerts all night on our phones and I believe that is where I got this information, but it could be just a mistake in reporting. One alert said Kamille was taken by a black male and a white woman. A later report said a black male and a black female were taken into custody. This could just be an error but could also be that the 1st woman (and 3rd accomplice) has not been apprehended. Or the 11 year old witness could have mistaken a lighter toned female as caucasian.

I do have to say that our government was on their game with the distribution of information via Amber Alert. Every time there was even a minor helpful detail, they sent out another alert.

Also... my two youngest are 5 and 12. I would absolutely send my 5 year old to play with my 12 year old in my neighborhood if I felt safe. Knowing there were older children that witnessed this incident makes me feel that Kamille's parents felt the same. Up until this point, there may have been no reason not to feel safe... even this being a public housing community.

However, the entire Birmingham area is notorious for crime and I do think everyone has a heightened awareness for suspect behavior. This would be what I attribute the quick identification and apprehension of the suspects to... people in the area are quick to identify out of place people and vehicles.

If only one kid saw it amongst a whole sea of other kids and I'm sure it was absolutely insane frantic chaos once they realized she wasn't there, I can see running around frantically/shouting her name as an instinctive first effort before it got around what the kid saw. I guess we also don't know just how long it was before that call was made.

Indeed. And I hope folks will be on the lookout for a 3 year old boy as well. Slap a ball cap on her and put her in boy clothes and they could be trying to "hide" her as a boy.

Facing questions about Saturday’s AMBER Alert, Smith said the multi-hour delay between Kamille’s abduction to when an AMBER Alert was sent was due to a delay between the abduction and when the kidnapping was reported to law enforcement. He also said they have not found a connection between the parents and the persons of interest.

After this PC and since it's been more than 36 hours, I'm 60% leaning towards trafficking and 40% towards someone trying to get some crazy revenge on one of her parents.

Last night I was 20% trafficking /80% someone known to her parents.

Yes... they stated she was last seen at 8:30pm. The first AA came at 12:04am. I'm not sure where they actually live in the complex, but it's right next to a community center, elementary school, and public library. There's a playground at the community center. It is a possibility that Kamille was playing with other children when she was abducted but the 11 year old child witness did not immediately know she was abducted. The 11 year old might have mistaken the abductors for relatives if the families did not know one another. When Kamille's family came looking, the 11 year old could have gone home and the info he/she gave only came out once the whole community knew about the incident. Four hours is a long time, but we aren't exactly sure how all this information was relayed.

I wondered that too! Almost looks like a skeleton costume. Ahh... really wondering what was going on ... and where is Cupcake? Why aren’t these people talking?

Wow. Lol. I wish I felt like you. My kids are 18 and 22 now and we live in a very safe neighborhood but I don’t think I’d allow my children under the age of 5 to be outside in the dark without me watching. I just couldn’t as a mom. This girl was three and it was dark and it’s a pretty sketchy looking complex. The chances of this happening ARE slim and none but a toddler shouldn’t be without an adult after dark. JMO. Nothing meant against you in this post. Don’t want you to think I’m being negative towards you. It’s sad kids can’t play and be safe.
