Caylee Anthony story: WESH reports that George and Cindy Anthony won't help prosecution without immunity

<snipped>
But at 6 p.m. WESH-Channel 2 then turned to the Caylee Anthony saga. Bob Kealing reported that the attorney for George and Cindy Anthony says they will cooperate in daughter Casey's prosecution -- "only if their words aren't used against them."

Attorney Brad Conway told Kealing, "We've discussed immunity, and I won't put them in a room until I get it."

I am intrigued that they think the prosecution needs their help...just going by what has been stated in this article. I lost track of the thread long ago I am afraid...

Thats the A's lawyer trying to bring doubt about the case - the DA hasn't commented and IF the prosecution absolutely needed the A's help this deal would have been made a long time ago

Just the statement saying that the A's won't help the prosecution without immunity speaks to me that they are guilty - and we don't even know if they know what the REAL truth is - it's the A's truth which isn't even in reality it seems

I am so glad the question asked in this poll was easy. "Would the GP's be totally candid and truthful if provided full immunity?" Easy question/answer. No. They are liars.

I was afraid the question was going to be "Shoud they be given immunity?" That is much harder. I would struggle with the thoughts of "What if..." What if their testimony could definitely lead to KC's conviction and without it she might (no matter how remote) be allowed to walk free? :furious:

I hope no deals are necessary and that if they are guilty of any crimes, they too will be punished.

These people have had ample opportunity to do the right thing for CAYLEE. They did not. I want to see everyone who knew anything at all and either lied about it or covered it up to pay for it.

Question-Is there a limit on who can receive immunity? The reason I ask is it sounds as if LA lawyer is jockeying for position. While I agree with him, having the parents testify might stir up jury sympathy, it just seems as if he is saying "Pick me!"

I agree. I also think what Lee, George, and Cindy want is a 'package deal'.

(lol, I just keep hearing that commercial where the talking birds say, "Pick me, pick me!")

LOL! I swear, this is the screwiest case I have ever seen. Next thing you know, they'll pronounce KC has multiple personalities named Jeff, Juliette, Zenaida, Raquel, Samantha, Darrin, Tabitha, etc...

I can't see any motivation for the SA to give any of them immunity. They are obviously very unreliable witnesses and the State has little to nothing to gain by granting them immunity. There case is just fine with them as they are....they can easily establish that they are unreliable and the jury should not believe what they say. IMO, the best evidence is Casey's behaviour after "the kidnapping"....I think a jury will have a difficult time reconciling that with any defence she is running.

Would Immunity effect the ZG/JM depo's and lawsuit?

  • #212
I don't think so. I don't see how it could cross over into civil case, but it is a very interesting question.

  • #213
I think we should have a thread - Everyone that has requested immunity

Even if they were to be granted immunity and stated that they would actually tell the truth this time, how would LE be assured that they were being truthful this time around? The arrogant posturing of their attorney regarding the immunity issue is disgusting and has undermined any goodwill his earlier actions and statements generated for his clients with me. (For what that is worth...)

It is my hope that this point is moot and that LE has enough evidence from the bag and the dump site and what has been removed from the house to make the case, in which case CA and GAs version of the truth will not be needed, and they can face the consequences of their dissembling and misleading.

As Sweetspyrit said above, the jailhouse tapes were really creepy and showed a very disordered family. I have posted previously that I believe they were trying to appease KC to get information because at that time they truly hoped that Caylee was recoverable. That is why they were telling her what she wanted to hear ("Hi, Gorgeous" and so on- yuck!) It reminded me of the Twilight Episode with Billy Mumy ("It's a Good Life") where everyone has to kow-tow to the child with the special powers or he'll 'wish them into the cornfield'.

But it is apparent that at some point they realized the awful truth and chose to circle the wagons to protect KC rather than deal with the situation head-on and make moral choices. If the concept of morality is too subjective for some, then please subsitute the 'correct legal choice under the judicial code of the United State and state of Florida.'

:clap::clap: ITA. I wonder as well how anyone would know when or if they are telling the truth. I don't think they will ever tell the truth & nothing but the truth. I think in their mind, Caylee is dead, nothing to gain by being truthful, but everything to lose in their mind, Casey.:furious:

:furious::furious::furious: That freaking speaks volumes! In other words, WE DO NOT CARE IF THE MURDERER OF CAYLEE GOES FREE. This entire **** family is only about "me, me, me, what's in for me!" I bet everyone in the family has said they would lay down their life for Caylee. Ah, I dont think so, they will die for her but won't tell the truth for her.

You know what, if LE find's they broke ANY laws & I dont care how small, I hope the charge the crap out them. Poor Caylee never had a chance with this family. If they ever really loved that child they would tell what they know. Srew them, I hope they all rot in hell after they spend a very long time in jail. :behindbar:furious:

:clap::clap: They never even saw Caylee as the victim, they saw Casey as the victim & themselves as victims. I would love the chance to legally slap the pi$$ out of all of them.
