Aruba - Natalee Holloway, 18, Oranjestad, 30 May 2005 *AL extortion trial* *Guilty* #3

Those aren't LE sources. Under Dutch law, Joran could be (and was) held for 30 days even without being charged with any crime. Something we can't do in the US and we are rightfully proud of our own protections. Then he was released for lack of evidence. IIRC he and the brothers were held and questioned several times, along with others like the guards at the hotel.

Those news sources can accuse him of being a "suspect" because he is a foreigner without funds to sue them. Same as what happened when BH publicly, repeatedly accused the minor-aged Joran and also Deepak and Satish of being murderers and rapists. Had they been Americans she and the media show featuring her would have been rapidly sued.
imo

Joran is indeed a suspect - no, let's make it THE Suspect - in the death of Natalee Holloway. What the Aruban govt does or doesn't do to figure it out (or to care) will not change that fact, and it's just a semantics game to try to claim that he's not.

In fact, he even he admitted he killed her. It's in the affidavit in the indictment.

And it's also a proven fact that in general he is a murderer of young women, who kills on a whim with no concern for human life. That's the psycho scumbucket he is.

Any of us who care about women, who have a daughter or granddaughter or sister we love, or who are female, or who have someone we care about who is female, we should certainly want him locked up even longer, where he can never get out of prison (wherever it may be), and do his thing again. I highly applaud this attempt to add to his years behind bars, locked up like the animal he is, before he can be on the street again. May that day never come!

So are we to get from this link that Van der Sloot likely killed yet another unnamed woman, and paid his now-deceased friend to destroy the evidence? No surprise he lied, again, about the identity. He will never tell.

The way I read it is the person killed by his girlfriend in the USA (Ludwick) was way after jvds was in prison. U have to read that really long article in the link right before that, referring to the guy who participated in Dave's tv project. (Same Ludwick fella, self described good friend of jvds) The guy (same guy subsequently killed by his gf) claimed to have cremated NH and went with jvds to dispose of her remains at sea. It's all there in that long meandering link. Iirc that tv doc that DH participated in, with the bone fragments, etc, was in 2016. Then the guy (Ludwick) who had told the tale about (sorry) what he did to NH's skull, cremation, etc, was himself killed by his own gf. Something like that.

I remember this from way back when... And I believe the LE did go out there to look. Some cliffs or something - getting old - and can not remember the details. :)

According to that link they also went out to look at some "fish pots" although I can't visualize a fish pot.

I googled it - but can not copy the picture - just do that & you will see what they look like.

Visualize a crab pot or lobster trap, only shaped differently and large enough for a human to be.

Good answer -- especially knowing the victim was a petite woman.

And there are many types of fish in Aruba -- even when excluding all the game fish that are present in abundance in these waters.

See the link for a great visual on the dozen+ fish species found here, and where supplies such as a fishing pot would be easily available and accessible. I also think a fishing pot, 6/12 hole Fishing Trap Bag could work here. MOO

Oh I know, I constructed hundreds of crab pots in Alaska but the smallest (dungeness) was too small for a human unless uh, cut up, and the ones we made were 5' x 5' for king crab and tanners, way too big for any type of crab in the caribbean. I was mainly unfamiliar with the use of pots for fish down there, except they do use these black cod pots in Alaska. I guess I could just google what they use in the caribbean......

Anyway, thanks.

According to Tim Miller from TES, a metal and wire fish trap had been stolen from a fisherman’s hut on the beach the night Natalee disappeared. This is an example of what I recall the trap looked like….

Could that be a lead? Weighted down? Sunk to the bottom?

Did he have access to a boat?

It’s been said he could have had access to a boat via his friends.

I remember now that some type of fishing gear had been stolen from the huts.

Thank you @NuttMegg! This is what I had in my head but I could not think of the word "collapsible" to search out the "fish pot." Geesh.. I hate when that happens.

I am concerned that now he is here, we won't ever be able to get rid of him. He could easily use the 8th amendment to get out of going back to his Peruvian prison.

6/9/23

A 2001 treaty between Peru and the U.S. allows a suspect to be temporarily extradited to face trial in the other country.

[..]

Peru has agreed to let van der Sloot remain in U.S. custody until the Alabama case, including any appeal if he is convicted, is concluded, according to a resolution published in Peru’s federal register. U.S. authorities agree to return van der Sloot to Peru’s custody after that, the resolution states.
^^bbm

I don't follow the use of the United States Eight Amendment-- the US did not impose JV's Peruvian sentence. His United States Constitutional rights apply to his case and practice before the federal court while he's lawfully situated in the U.S.

While I've not accessed the 2001 Treaty between Peru and the U.S., it seems to me that first and foremost, the U.S. has a vested interest in protecting and honoring any Treaty it has with another country and that as soon as JV has exhausted his last and final appeal (if convicted), he will be returned to Peru to complete his initial, existing sentence for murdering Ms. Flores.

In other words, pursuant to the Treaty, once JV has exhausted his final appeal rights pursuant to the US Constitution, he will no longer be legally situated in the U.S., and as a foreigner no longer permitted here legally, subject to deportation. MOO
